Reuben is adorable.
And amazingly, Snowflake is back! Trumpy and Snowflake were outdoor cats I took care of over the winter. Mom passed. Too much was going on. But a month later they were back in the house from 11am until about 6pm. And we have a crazy neighbour who took Trumpy for a ride in April and Snowflake in May. But Snowflake is back. She has a tracker on and it was a blessing my friend's found her. She stays in most of the time now. Oh, and she comes to sleep with me a lot of nights. Well, I may have a new cat. One of the new regulars is a young, thin, fuzzy black cat. I am not sure if male or female but I suspect female. It was thrilled to find free food. It loves to be petted and does not seem to be afraid of Jake. Mr Trouble is not thrilled with it but they don't fight. They seem to just talk to each other. If it continues to stay around, I will take it into be fixed, given shots and chipped. No name yet.

Cat showed up at the shelter where my sister works. Chipped and neutered, but its owners never came for it. So, my sister took him in.

Our new to us dog who came into our lives last Saturday, is the sweetest and most loving dog we've ever had in our almost 50 years of marriage. We think since she spent most of her 18 months of life in a shelter she feels safe and very loved. Posted by: fourseasons at June 14, 2025 03:28 PM (3ek7K) 20

I notice you stopped saying “not my cat.” You have been assimilated into cat ownership. Posted by: nurse ratched at June 14, 2025 03:30 PM (mT+6a) Posted by: Aetius451AD work phone at June 14, 2025 03:30 PM (zZu0s) 22

Next couple of weeks will be busy here at Schloss Hadrian. Diana goes in for a chiropractic consultation on Tuesday after last week's MRI. Then we have two immediately consecutive events. On the 24th, Puff, Ruth, Dot and Dan will go to Texas A&M for heart testing and immediately upon our return, Her Majesty and Rosalind are headed off to Oklahoma City, then Dallas for shows. Lots of baths, lots of loading. Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at June 14, 2025 03:31 PM (QnmlO) 24

I notice you stopped saying “not my cat.” You have been assimilated into cat ownership. Posted by: nurse ratched at June 14, 2025 03:30 PM (mT+6a) I got her and the dog fleastuff this week. Life has been too much so I've been taking care of the animals as best I can. My brother came by. I went for a walk and saw a dear friend of my Mom. He was walking the fluffiest 89 pound Chow. That was nice. Posted by: Stateless.. 27% - mental state clawing up from 10%, shit happened, clawing back now at June 14, 2025 03:34 PM (jvJvP) 27
Lily the Cat continues to provide endless amusement. She patrols the cul-de-sac, racing from window to window keeping tabs on all critters foreign and domestic.
Hogmartin nicknamed her Little Babushka for her busybody tendencies. Other monikers include Cookiebear, Kugelblitz (ball lightning), and of course Lady Plushbottom Posted by: All Hail Eris, She-Wolf of the 'Ettes 'Ettes at June 14, 2025 03:37 PM (kpS4V) Posted by: Stateless.. 27% - mental state clawing up from 10%, shit happened, clawing back now at June 14, 2025 03:39 PM (jvJvP) 29
Kaylee the Calico Kitty Cat (the cutest little cat of them all) had some fun in the sun room this morning.
Apparently a vole or two was running around in the shrubbery just outside the sun room and Kaylee was fascinated by them. I'm amazed that her and Hexie finally get along well enough for both of them to be in the sun room without any issues. Hexie used to be fiercely territorial of the sun room, living room, and kitchen. Now she's cool with Kaylee. Yay! Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel at June 14, 2025 03:49 PM (GlyvH) 30

And Jake has been fine all week. If I hadn't seen him wobbling around and throwing up, I'd say the vet was wrong. I do think the DMSO helped.

My poor girl Gigi (8.5 year old Pittie, Boxer, Rottie mix) has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Now I am making homemade dog food and trying to learn all I can to help her out. She has lost 14 pounds since she got it. Needed to lose some but needs to stop losing weight now and just maintain. It seems to be a very complicated disease that affects all dogs a little differently. Very big learning curve.

The late Reuben was a pretty kittuh! Siberian? Maine Coon Kittuh? I tend to mix those breeds up.

I took my girl dog Paisley to the dog park today but found there was something called a pagan festival there. So I turned around.
It's not that pagans frighten me but I could see my white, Christian dog biting pagan of color. Didn't want that. Posted by: Still lurking at June 14, 2025 04:33 PM (kTd/k) 36
Short pet thread today. Can we call it still "active"?
Welcome back, KT. Glad to see you. MiladyJo called to me from the front door to come help her. She'd been walking Daisy the frisky Malinois, and Daisy managed to snag a mole and wouldn't put it down. I did get her to manage to drop it, so, good dog. The mole was no longer frisky. Yesterday morning, at the end of my walking Daisy, she managed to get her feet in between mine, and I was heading for a sidewalk face-plant. My feet were shuffling, trying to regain my balance, but there was nothing to grab onto, and I was going down hard. However, I still had hold of Daisy's leash, and with her as an anchor, I managed to save myself from another hospital trip. Yay. Hope to see more Moronimals next week. Posted by: Puddleglum, drive by meow at June 14, 2025 *** Afternoon, all. I'd say Reuben was a Maine Coon thanks to those big ear tufts and the expression -- not as sweet as a Siberian's face (a "sweet expression" is actually in the breed description). And a Norwegian would have more slanted eyes. My two furry thugs are still busy playing with the wire Cat Dancer toy. I bought that for Arizona the huge Coon-mix* red tabby when he was a young adult and have passed it on to each cat since. These two actually go find it in the toy basket and have a grand time with it. * So the then-Mrs. Wolfus No. 2 and I always said, but the actual likelihood of him having been even part Maine Coon was vanishingly small. Posted by: fourseasons at June 14, 2025 *** My black Stirling cat seems much the same for three months of his early life at a shelter. Our elderly rescue dog Ralphy isn't eating much. He's about 15 and has been very difficult to feed the last several years.
I give him canned food. I have put in gravy, vegetables, eggs, chicken, sardines. Still difficult to feed. Posted by: Stateless.. 27% - mental state clawing up from 10%, shit happened, clawing back now at June 14, 2025 04:43 PM (jvJvP) 42

Time to take the current wet food can for the cats out of the fridge so it can warm up a bit, and run water in their bowls to clean them before I give them dinner.

Of my two kittehs only brother kitteh has taken to walk with me outside at our new home. Sister kitteh is still deciding after 5 months. I'm thinking in another month she will decide she doesn't want to stay in alone while her brother and I are outside taking a walk.

Stirling is trotting around squeaking. He doesn't usually do that just before dinner. Obviously he wants me to do something else as well, and I don't know what it is.
