Wednesday Morning Rant

A Time Warp of Sorts

It's "Pride Month," though it is easy to miss it this year - at least, it's easy to miss it in some places. Some years ago, I fled the conquered territory I used to call home and moved elsewhere. Where I live now, you would be hard-pressed to find evidence that it's time for the annual celebration of child grooming and other perversions. In other places, though, it's very much business as usual on that front.

Being in the midst of an apparent preference cascade is a weird situation, and where you are plays a role in how it looks. Things are in fact changing. Many outfits who do business outside the blue enclaves or have to make terms with the United States government under its current executive are fairly suddenly pretending that they never remade their logos as rainbows and agitated for revolution. If you live in the widening sea of normality, it's increasingly easy to forget that any of this is even a thing at all this year.

But all it takes to experience a touch of culture shock is to travel a few hundred miles to an island of Party power. I recently took a trip to a big eastern city for work and it was like entering another world. It wasn't entirely bad, but I found it a bit weird. Starting with the good, the hellhole factor was pretty low. Work usually takes me to the west coast, so my default assumption was that I was traveling to a no-go zone. It wasn't. I was in a fancy part of town, but being in a rich area doesn't really matter in a place like San Francisco. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are still places where at least the moneyed parts of a city still feel normal rather than like a totally dystopian hellscape. Expectations status: subverted.

But it was also like stepping back in time several years. It was very obviously "Pride Month" there. Local restaurants loudly advertising rainbow-colored food with rainbow napkins in the dispensers. Banners and signs up on buildings and in the windows of businesses. Billboards and ads on buses bedecked in rainbows with vague statements about "diversity" or spoiling for a fight with The Man. Even big companies that have gone more or less mum online or in wider campaigns had the flag flying in the enclave. The mega-corp I was visiting had "All Genders Bathrooms" scattered throughout their swanky, brand new digs. It's nowhere to be found in their public marketing, but still very much a thing on the inside.

It all felt kind of dated and worn-out. It's how things used to be, and not in a good way. Coming from a place where this stuff basically doesn't exist anymore, it was like I wandered into a time warp. "Pride month" and its trappings are still very much real things in some places, though others have emphatically moved on. It's still big in some of the enclaves, but many other places enthusiastically sloughed it off, consigning its corpse to the ashcan where it belongs. The transition was jarring and underscored that nothing happens at all once.

How are things where you live? Is "Pride Month" still on full display, or is it already in dustbin?

There were a few events and marches in downtown Des Moines early in the month...and electronic billboard on the highway had a Pride flag in the rotation, but otherwise, not much thankfully.

Of course it's in the dustbin in most of Texas. (But it will always be "in" in Oak Cliff) The most amusing part of this is that all the parts of the country that told themselves they were oh-so trendy and ahead of the times, are suddenly badly behind the times without a clue what to do next.
Sic transit gloria and all that.

As in the clip in the art thread of two white lefty activists blocking traffic, then sneering and laughing at a black woman who wants them to move so she can get to work.
She tried the "you're stopping a black woman from getting to work" appeal -- and it didn't phase them. It's surprising how impervious they are to this after years of anti-racism trainings, BLM protests, etc..

BLM is so over!

Beyond that, from a coaching perspective, seeing them start to think about the game as a mental game and improve their mental toughness is probably the biggest reward.

15 You must not have been in NYC. There's very little PM perversion here this year. Sure, the leftwing city council -- whose members are packed with rump rangers and clam diggers -- is trying to pimp PM in those annoying video ads on subways and shit. But overall, you'd hardly notice PM this year. Thankfully.

People who SHOULD be living comfortably, based on income, seem to live in small houses, in slightly out of time dated communities.

It's so strange to come home to Podunkville where I live, where everything is clean, people look cheerful, roads are being torn up, not by neglect but by the constant improvements that never seem to stop.

Cities are dumps.

82 5 years ago in liberal MA there were little acts of rebellion against the Pride stuff. A classic white church in the Wenham main street had placed an oversize pride flag on it's exterior, and the museum across the street had done the same. Both were stolen within days.

A non-profit that purchases old farms to maintain open spae, The Trustees of the Reservation, posted a picture of the most hideous drag queen degenerate on Insta to announce a DQSH at one of their sites. The next day they posted pictures of a detailed 2-page statement put out by its director defending it -- indicating they got A LOT of pushback, lol.

People are rightly sick of this rubbing our noses in their deviancy.

88 I live in a fairly red suburb of a deeply blue city in this otherwise red state. My Target had that awful trans-kid garbage on display right up front as you came into the store two years ago. Last year that spot was just regular merchandise. This year, there is a Fourth of July display up and you get red, white and blue instead of lots of rainbows. No "tuck friendly" swimsuits to be found. The past two years, and especially the last election, seem to have pretty profound results.

Also in super blue surrounds like Media PA.

someone around here was advertising a pride march or walk or sashay, or whatever, it wasn't even worth my time to see where it's located, maybe Delaware, who knows

In my immediate locale, which is a purple-ish suburb, middle class, a couple big pride flags went up outside of homes right after the OrangeManBad Regime took office.

I was glad they did so. Because if those particular homesteads are so assiduous in "showing their colors", the parents of the area know what houses their kids should avoid.

Dear Mr Diogenes we regret to inform you that in the recent correspondence were we said "you do not have cancer and will not die in three months" we added the word "not" twice by accident.

After careful review those are the only typos made so you should consider the document now to be correct and corrected.

Charitable interpretation, because my own neighborhood had that problem, is that a rainbow is a Christian symbol (although unicorns and rainbows are some kind of creepy little girl thing). When the neighbor was informed of the connotation, it quickly disappeared.

I no longer have a red, white, and blue 'Welcome' sign because of the same misappropriation.

Posted by: The Rank Organization at June 11, 2025 11:09 AM

Via Grok:

The rainbow flag, a symbol of the LGB movement, was first designed and used in 1978. Created by artist Gilbert Baker in San Francisco, it was commissioned by Harvey Milk, a prominent gay rights activist, for the city's Gay Freedom Day Parade. The original flag had eight colors, each with a specific meaning, like red for life and blue for harmony. It was later simplified to six colors for practical production reasons. The flag gained widespread recognition as a symbol of gay pride and diversity in the years following, especially during the 1980s as the movement grew.

There is really no reason for companies to virtue signal with rainbow stuff anymore, because the movement has been extremely successful in getting their policies into US law.

Our company's sexual harassment training was all about the "transgenders" and pointing out that it is US law that recognizes "gender identity" as a protected class.

Made an explicit point throughout the training to say it is corporate policy, based on US law, to recognize anyone by their "preferred pronouns" or face punishment and that anyone who "identifies as a woman" must be allowed to use the bathroom they choose.

Just like the BLM stuff is seen less, because they got all their grift and policies put in place.

Well, this would be one of those examples of people not paying attention to what he actually said, and getting butthurt over something that's not really all that controversial.

Seems to me, the same institutions of "higher learning" that get ragged on in other settings, when it comes to someone saying "Yeah, Indians and other foreigners are needed for highly skilled jobs, because American schools are shit" gets a jingoistic backlash.

I really don't get it. Either American schools are failing us, or they're not.

The two can coexist. Most of the failure of the american college system is in liberal arts, though the commiefags are trying to destroy the STEM areas too. Nobody gives two fucks about your gender studies degree unless you go work for a previously-funded-by-USAID-NGO. I have not seen evidence that there is actually a compelling need to import a bunch of H1Bs do do IT work. On the contrary, at least anecdotally, people in IT positions have been REPLACED while on the job by H1Bs, and being made to train their replacements.

I've said this before. I think he needs to Anglicize his name. It's just too "foreign sounding". "Kash Patel" is easy for us both to spell and to say. "Vivek Ramaswamy"? Not so much. And he could do it by simply dropping out letters:
"Vivek Ramaswamy."

If there are brown folk who want to work at least 8 hours a day, I assume there are companies just itching to hire them.

The Chinese have been doing this in business for decades, with the added twist of assigning the anglicized name to your account, and having 10 different sales reps use the same name. Had that happen with one Chinese company I used to buy parts from at my last job. You could tell when they fired someone because the replacement would barely be able to compose an email in English, then they'd only last a few months before someone would come in who could communicate like they were US born-and-bred. All under the same name.

Certainly not my area of expertise. I sorta assume companies pay people what they deserve, and are not in the business of getting rid of talent... unless it's overpaid.

Seems me though, if pale skin people are getting replaced by brown skin people, the place to start is getting rid of quotas or whatever the hell else there is that would cause that in the first place.

I can tell you do not work in the auto industry as this is exactly what has been happening for at least the past 5 years... companies laying off local engineers by the hundreds and replacing them with outsourced remote cheap labor contract "engineers" in India, Mexico and Indians working in Canada. They are paid 1/3 to 1/2 of what the laid off American engineers were making. And most of them in my experience have 1/3 to 1/2 the experience and IQ of American engineers. Average IQ of people in India is 72, borderline retarded.

Specifically, Stellantis has a policy in place in my department that for any local American engineer management wants to hire, they have to hire 3-4 BCC (Best Cost Country) "engineers" from India.

344 Greetings from the northwest suburbs of the Blue Hive of Chicago! Here in the burbs the rainbow splash is fairly non-existent in stores and businesses this year. But there were more suburban communities having Pride parades than in past years. Amongst my social group there were still proud gay allies sporting rainbow paraphernalia and tshirts, but no one gushed over their posturing like in years past.
