Wall Street Journal: The Corrupt Biden Administration Put Musk Under State Surveillance for Two Years After He Bought Twitter

Ed Morrissey:

Gavin Newsom and leading Democrats have spent the last few days fulminating about "authoritarianism" by Donald Trump for sending National Guard and Marine units to protect federal law enforcement agents and sites. What will they have to say when they discover that the Departments of Homeland Security and Justice spied on an industrialist supporter of the opposition party?

Oh, wait, Trump didn't do that. Joe Biden did that. For two years, according to the Wall Street Journal, Merrick Garland and Alejandro Mayorkas surveilled Elon Musk and his contacts to check out "influence." This seems to have started around the time that Musk bought Twitter and refused to participate in the Biden administration's Big Tech-Big Government Censorship Complex:

Several U.S. government agencies in 2022 and 2023 tracked foreign nationals coming and going to Elon Musk's properties, according to people familiar with the matter.

The investigation included the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department. It focused on people visiting the tech billionaire, from countries in Eastern Europe and elsewhere, who might have been trying to influence him. Until last week, Musk was one of President Trump's closest advisers. ...

The probe, predating the current Trump administration, highlights concerns about the number of foreign nationals in Musk's orbit. Musk runs five companies, including SpaceX, with sensitive government contracts, and has had unprecedented access to top government officials.

Note the pretext for spying on this political enemy of Biden's is the same pretext the Democrat-Media Party used to launch the RussiaGate Hoax: We're so, so scared that our political enemy is talking to foreigners we're compelled to spy on him and get FISA warrants against him.

Musk seems to have reconsidered some of the things he said during his Twitter meltdown:

The feud between Elon Musk and President Trump appears to be cooling--at least publicly--as Musk on Friday deleted a provocative tweet accusing Trump of being tied to the long-sealed Jeffrey Epstein files. The now-removed post had read: "Time to drop the really big bomb... @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!"

The accusation came amid Musk's multi-day online assault on Trump's proposed spending bill, which he labeled as bloated and misguided. But the tweet quickly triggered a wave of rebuttals, including from David Schoen, Epstein's former criminal defense lawyer.

"I can say authoritatively, unequivocally, and definitively that he [Epstein] had no information to hurt President Trump," Schoen wrote on X. "I specifically asked him!"

The White House dismissed Musk's outburst as political sour grapes. "This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted," said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday. "The president is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again."

Trump is also conciliatory:

Trump says he doesn't plan to remove Starlink wifi from the White House, calling it "a good service." And he says he isn't planning to get rid of the Tesla, but might "move the Tesla around a little bit."

I saw noted elsewhere that Musk hasn't been a "conservative" for long.

The first betrayal by our "leaders" in congress hurts the most.

He's blaming Trump, but as he's rather smart, I think he'll figure out that there's a LOT wrong with the country and it can't be fixed until a LOT of our "elites" are dealt with, hopefully by voting them out of office.

I suspect that it's an issue of Trump being aware that there was no benefit to being mean to Musk. He's not an opponent, sometimes he's an ally. Let him bluster a bit. Keep him on-side.

Musk's expectations were unrealistic but he shared them with a not insignificant number of people in these very comments.

Most people, even people who are interested in politics, understand how things get done. They want immediate and total gratification. After all, it seems like that always happens for the Dems. Never mind that they're being gaslit by the media hyping Dem shit while downplaying Trump shit.

Musk's issue, one he shares with virtually every rich/famous/powerful person on Earth is that he doesn't listen when someone tells him that he's wrong even if it's about something outside of his expertise.

I don't think he's that naive. I think there was something he wanted (according to Trump, an extension of EV subsidies and an EV mandate) and Trump did not deliver, so Elon threw a fit like a child and accused Trump of raping young children and covering it up.

I don't know if it's how they should choose people to spy on, but the fact of the matter is, we live in a surveillance state, it is what it is, and most of the country seems fine with it.

So with that framework, I'd be surprised if a foreign billionaire with a sketchy backstory who clearly has no loyalty to Americans or American workers (lets not forget this tweet: "The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B. Take a big step back and FUCK YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend.") was not under surveillance by at least one of our 22 intelligence agencies.

He keeps going, gets loud, puts his hand on me when I turned my back, calls me a liar and repeats that I tried to hit on his girl. I turn around and say, I definitely didn’t hit on your girl. I can smell her hoo hah from here, probably because half the guys in this place have been inside her. Bing, bang, boom. Still have the scar on my arm where he stabbed me with a broken bottle.

At least with Trump, I believe his temperament is mostly him playing a character. He doesn't seem to hold grudges and seems to have a pretty even keel.

Posted by: Harry Paratestes at

Not impressed teenagers. Honestly, it all does make sense. It’s probably really hard for him to engage in a normal relationship and online gives him a bit of the safety to communicate. It’s kind of normal with high functioning autistic people. Being normal socially is not what comes easy to them. They have to fake it. We have had a ton of behavior therapy for my daughter, and thank goodness we did. But even now, she will just say things and have no idea it would be received as hurtful. They also don’t do well with the word no, and if they are spiraling, it’s worse.

It’s meaningless anyway. Nobody makes $7.25 an hour. Shit McDonald’s in my area pays almost $20/hr and they still have a hard time keeping people.

Most states have their own minimum wage as well.

The only thing it can affect is union contracts which use the mw to calculate wages for their members. Other than that it’s really a non issue.

195 Musk acted out of two motives, I believe: one, he tried regulatory capture of the biggest prize (Trump) and that flopped miserably, so he flounced a little over his failure, and two, he genuinely does not understand the Congressional sausage making and he was appalled by the bill.

Trump knows he needs the tax cuts first, foremost, and desperately, so he is willing to settle (for now) on allowing the pork to roll along with it.

I believe Trump will come back to spending reductions, and Musk was unwilling to trust that will happen. Fair enough, he has a better than even chance of being correct.

Anyway, having started the fight, Musk also needs to finish it. His businesses are too reliant on federal cooperation for him to do any other thing.

234 I dunno. Trump gets worse said and done to him every day by Democrats and some Republicans.

Maybe we need to dispense with the fiction that politics is some kind of polite game for the proper and upstanding. The commies in particular are vile vicious scum on the underside of slime who will say and do anything that gives them one more morsel of power.

Yes, but Elon is supposedly Trump's ally, and is now likely going to try to "mend bridges" with Trump.

Again, Trump has a way about him where he can get away with being outrageous. He's unique in that sense. It feels very tongue in cheek coming from him. And even then, he doesn't really always get away with it.

This outburst from elon? I don't think he was being Trumpian. If Elon had made fun of Trump's hair or something, sure.

But how do you come back from calling Trump a pedophile who is covering up the evidence of that? There will be books written on Epstein for the next 50 years, half of which will cite Elon's tweet as proof that Trump was an Epstein client.

My car's a/c went out on me twice, and was supposedly "fixed" twice. Worked fine for a little while each time before it died. Third time it died, I was tired of spending money and time trying to get it fixed, so I let it stay dead. That was maybe ten years ago. I just drive with the windows down on the really hot days.

245 But how do you come back from calling Trump a pedophile who is covering up the evidence of that?

That isn't what he said, though. He said Trump was in the Epstein files. Which he almost certainly is - we've all seen photos and video of him at parties with Epstein, and he invited Epstein to a party at one of his properties before banning him for getting handsy with the staff.

Donald Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, revealed that the raids that sparked the violent LA riots were not for immigration purposes. Homan explained that the raids that took place in downtown Los Angeles on Friday were part of a criminal investigation into a money laundering scheme and cartel activity.' It wasn’t an immigration raid. It was to service of three criminal warrants at locations based on a large criminal conspiracy that ICE is investigating,' Homan on MSNBC.

It is impressive to me how completely they believe the media narrative that only sweet, innocent, never-harmed-a-fly grandmas, mothers and family men are being arrested.
And they must protect them.

I really like how they're trying so desperately to manufacture outrage of "they're separating families!"

To be met with, "yeah, that is what happens when the parents are criminals. American jails are full of parents separated from their children."

251 arresting SEIU people is one definition of a good days work.

As a 23 year old cousin was reaching the end of his days, lying in a hospital room, SEIU (1099) was on strike outside, banging on metal garbage cans and chanting through loud speakers. So I hate them with the power of burning sun.
