"Paul Cadmus (December 17, 1904 – December 12, 1999) was an American artist widely known for his egg tempera paintings of gritty[1] social interactions in urban settings. He also produced many highly finished drawings of single nude male figures. His paintings combine elements of eroticism and social critique in a style often called magic realism."

I had a funny back-and-forth on Reddit with some Lefty convinced Mitch McConnell and Joni Ernst were far right senators beloved by Republicans. He eventually asked for evidence of Right-Wing sites not liking them, so I linked here with a few quotes over the years. His response?

that’s one in the sea of the right wing media ecosystem. This is very obviously a blog built on provocation and radicalization...Well I feel gross for “defending” Mitch McConnell. Also Ace of Spades HQ is trash. It intentionally blurs the line between vulgarity and political commentary in order to dodge criticism. Its sole purpose is to provoke and get coverage from big daddy Fox News.

As much as I dislike the medical community, they're getting good with the heart valve thing. Have a friend in his 70's that's had a pig valve, which was replaced with a cow valve years ago and he's still kicking. Still plowing and planting his field and selling vegetables every spring.

142 >>Notice the guy with the ribs looking like he's about to take a dive off the high board, he's wearing a sailor's hat. So the penguin is his pet?

Maybe a reference to this?

Instead of creating a typical American scene [for his Public Works of Art Project], Cadmus submitted The Fleet’s In! (1934), a wild scene of drunken sailors interacting with civilians and sketchy women inspired by his memories of the uninhibited sailors who flooded New York’s Riverside Park. . .

Indeed the most striking thing about the Fleets In! scandal is that no one mentioned the homosexual subtext of the painting. They denounced the loose women and drunken sailors, but once you delve into this scene of general debauchery, you notice at its center an unmistakable gay pickup in progress. We see a well-groomed man wearing a red tie offering a cigarette to a Marine, who eagerly accepts it. As George Chauncey wrote in Gay New York: “The blond civilian with plucked eyebrows, rouged lips and powdered face is the 30s archetype of the gay ‘fairy.’ His red tie was a well-known queer code that conveyed his availability.” The painting’s queerness extends beyond this encounter. . . .

162 Take home messages from the Joondeph COVID article linked in JJ's Morning Report:

1. mRNA vaccines do not have a an "off switch", meaning that the production of spike protein by the cells can persist for days, weeks, or even longer

2. Whether from the actual virus or from the vaccine, the spike protein is the key villain, triggering the adverse effects such as myocarditis, clotting abnormalities, "turbo" cancers, etc.

3. COVID antibodies are detectable whether you had the disease or the vaccine or both. Thus it is a challenge to distinguish 'long COVID' from vaccine injury.

197 June 9, 1973 – Secretariat wins the Triple Crown at Belmont Stakes.

Secretariat (March 30, 1970 – October 4, 1989), also known as Big Red, was a champion American thoroughbred racehorse who was the ninth winner of the American Triple Crown, setting and still holding the fastest time record in all three of its constituent races. He became the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years and his record-breaking victory in the Belmont Stakes, which he won by 31 lengths, is often considered the greatest race ever run by a thoroughbred racehorse. During his racing career, he won five Eclipse Awards, including Horse of the Year honors at ages two and three. Widely regarded as one of the greatest racehorses of all time, he was nominated to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1974. In the Blood-Horse magazine List of the Top 100 U.S. Racehorses of the 20th Century, Secretariat was second to Man o' War.

I just asked google's AI if Hyaluronic Acid (a supplement for skin) is best taken with a meal. Answer: "Taking hyaluronic acid with a meal is generally recommended for optimal absorption and utilization."

Then I asked Google AI if Hyaluronic Acid is best taken on empty stomach. Answer: "The most effective time to take a hyaluronic acid supplement is typically on an empty stomach. This is because hyaluronic acid, especially when combined with collagen, is absorbed more efficiently when there's minimal other food in the digestive tract. Taking the supplement on an empty stomach can also help reduce the potential for stomach acid to break down the supplement before it's absorbed. "

309 Then I asked Google AI if Hyaluronic Acid is best taken on empty stomach. "

312 If I were President Trump, I'd put out the following brief statement:

"Back in '20, I was far too permissive with the rioters. Partly because of my well known sympathy for the cause of criminal justice and policing reform. Mostly because I didn't want the heat I'd catch from the Left for putting down the riots they incited.

But, now that one of them shot me, I don't feel that heat nearly so much. Their endless stream of crocodile tears packs less of a punch than their bullets do, and I've seen more than enough of their intimidation and violence.

Going forward, I can promise that any riots will be met with force. Know this: if you want to riot in 2025, then you better pray for G-d's mercy, because you'll find none from me. That is all."

372 It's a terrible analysis of 2020, assuming that BLM inspired the populace to vote Democrat.

The proper reading of 2020 is that covid was used as an excuse to change election rules, fortify the vote, and manufacture literally millions of ballots, all necessary because BLM didn't inspire the people to vote Democrat.

374 Apparently LAPD is arresting rioters for show.
Surprise! They are all being released and the DA is either not charging or reducing and dismissing the charges.

They are also not turning over anyone arrested that is an illegal immigrant to ICE and are not releasing information or pictures on the arrests.

So the LAPD’s action are all for show.

And that's just how all this shit works.

I think the secret ingredient to 2020 was Trump's acquiescence to the experts on Covid. I do not think without everything moving in that direction, it would have built up the head of steam. I expect he will be a bit more circumspect in future. At least we can hope.

Martial law can be done at the state or federal level. In the former, it’s usually by governors. In the latter, the President invokes the Insurrection Act, which is what Trump has done.

The Bulward: The Senator Who Isn't Afraid To Punch Trump In The Face, June 6, 2025

"Senator Chris Murphy joins Lauren Egan to talk his new political action committee, the American Mobilization Project’s $400,000 effort not to fund campaigns, but to fuel grassroots protest and organize resistance to what he calls a looming threat to American democracy."

Chris Murphy joins Morning Joe today
I will be on @Morning_Joe in a few minutes to talk about Trump's dangerous affection for martial law, but also the main thing this week - the Republican bill to throw 15 million off their health care to fund a new $270,000 tax cut for the rich.
&
The Republican budget bill will ruin people's lives all across the country. 40% of Americans would lose money. 15 million will get thrown off their health insurance. The only people who will benefit will be corporate CEOs and millionaires, who all get a nice tax break. Disaster.
---
Chris Murphy needs to take his silly white ass out L.A., lead a charge or 2.

404 Can AI reason?

Posted by: Soothsayer at June 09, 2025 10:47 AM (e82mC)
---
No indication that they can, yet.

Remember the definition of a sentence: "A complete thought."

Thus any properly constructed sentence is in the form that we take to be "thought".

AI are good at associating words together. They are called "Large Language Models". They imitate humans by putting associated words into an order that just so happens to sound like us.

Now, they are also really good replicating--but for the most part plagiarizing--parts of images and graphics. This is probably their most impressive use so far.

But you have to remember how many people you have talked to in your life that can't manufacture a slick painting like image of Trump fighting with a light saber like that, to see how, even if impressive, it's not quite an expectation of "intelligence".

But it's starting to show visual recognition and association to concepts.
