I think ICE had better get their security perimeter tactics beefed up a bit. There's no reason to have the public in the streets, surrounding your vehicles and team members. Tear gas them. If they don't move, apply more forceful methods until they do.

I'm gonna throw a little nudge out to say a little prayer of thanksgiving for at least one thing that's gone your way recently, or turned out better than you hoped, or anything like that. Even something as trivial as "hey, my coffee turned out better than usual this morning". It's good to be thankful for the little silly junk that doesn't matter, too, sometimes. Maybe if you have giant massive very-much-not-silly things going on, just a tiny spiritual vacation from it might help settle your mind a bit, and give you a little goose of strength to deal with it better. The small grace might not make the massive crisis disappear, but the massive crisis shouldn't make the small grace disappear, either.
It's something that's helped me in the past, at any rate. Posted by: Warai-otoko at June 07, 2025 08:16 AM (jeWRt) 48

You can blame politicians and apparently the LAPD for that death.
Those officials in California have allowed people to believe the law is not applicable to them. Furthermore that violent, riotous actions in complete violation of state and federal law are somehow, according to them, magnanimous. The United States has a legal immigration system. We have entire chapters of federal law dedicated to it. If you are here in violation of US laws and statutes you are subject to removal, no matter who you are. If you commit crimes in our country you are further subject to prison and immediate removal. These actions are nothing but an attempt to subvert the law by Democrats and their supporters. They are flagrant violations of federal and many state laws, and we should not stand for attacks on our law enforcement officers. Period. Posted by: Marcus T at June 07, 2025 08:36 AM (8Zc4w) 99

Period. On his three day, he has taken to baking something. Cookies, cake, brownies, whatever. This week he made donuts. These are not baked and I don't care for that style of donut. So he made chocolate chip cookies also. From a recipe my mom had. I like those. A lot. A lahhhtt. More than you think. A lot.
I have some choices for what to do today. Work on my quilt, get started on the play mat for grandson, do my part of the purse Hubbymayhem made for me, or mow the lawn. They have mislead people to believe in falsehoods. Then they use those falsehoods as a rallying point for illegal and violent responses, enlisting the mislead into advocating for their political beliefs. They use euphemisms like “our community” for a group of people who are here in clear violation of state and federal law. States like California are not sovereign unto themselves. They are part of our country and the republic. We should therefore (and I believe we finally are) let them realize the rest of our country won’t stand for a cancer to be nurtured under their tutelage that will undermine our entire federal system. This morning, they are intimating that further violent and riotous attacks on federal law enforcement are coming of they continue their attempts to enforce the law. I'm considering writing a book on this, tell me what you think of the premise:
A serial killer that targets street protests, kind of like the ICE raids, BLM riots, etc, using a sniper rifle, with the chaos and confusion of the protests as cover. It takes the government quite a while to even discover there is a pattern of this happening and become aware of the shooter's existence. As the story unfolds, there emerges a strange entanglement between the government agencies that are on the one hand trying to stop the killer, but on the other hand are themselves involved in clandestine operations to actually foment the street protests to destroy the country. The serial killer then becomes somewhat of a moral quandary for the reader. Dark hero? Sociopath? Both? Posted by: Protestant Coffee Drinkers at June 07, 2025 09:01 AM (6Wx0O) 148

Agree, Musk is an engineer, but he is also used to being in a position of being in charge of the very destiny of his own companies and being able to fire, and fire without recourse, any incompetents that are trying to sabotage his directions/decisions in a non-constructive way (which is apparently exactly a perfect description of the sole function of the entire US Congress). Finding a significant problem, collecting data in support of a solution, and being told "Time to move on!" does not sit well with such people! I think ICE had better get their security perimeter tactics beefed up a bit.
===================== Yes. This. They might want to rethink their OpSec, too. Are they handing out press releases so these half-wits can mobilize? Posted by: Brave Sir Robin at June 07, 2025 09:06 AM (lPeS+) I suspect that ICE is advising the local cops, who then advise the local politicians, who then mobilize their Antifa (Commie) street thugs. There is a solution (deploy hundreds of agents, make a $h!t-load of arrests, and process the thugs in Gitmo while said thugs cool their heels for a month or two) but I don't think Pres. Trump is ready to pull that trigger. Posted by: Retired Buckeye Cop is now an engineer at June 07, 2025 09:14 AM (pJWtt) 177

Posted by: Marcus T at June 07, 2025 08:56 AM (8Zc4w) -- I have lots of them. Future purchases, future home improvements, daily tasks. One of my little pleasures is checking them off. I learned this from my grandmother, how had five kids and husband working in the upper echelons of the auto industry. She showed me how to organize my life, and lists were a key too. One thing I do is that if I see something else and fix it, and it wasn't on the list - I add it to the list, and then check it off. And there is a certain satisfaction to seeing it all filled out and throwing it away. Next! Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd at June 07, 2025 09:16 AM (ZOv7s) 182

That was my first thought but I don't know. Musk was obviously very frustrated dealing with the pit of despair that is DC and he's not shy about expressing his feelings. Same thing happens here about every 5 minutes. A lot of the problems are glaringly obvious but DC was built to stop easy solutions. In business Musk can make a problem disappear with a snap of his fingers. Doesn't work like that in DC. I think he was genuinely frustrated and angry that not only was he not hailed as the conquering hero his businesses were targeted for violence and so was he personally. I like it better when they aren't throwing anvils at each other. Bad guys are over that way. Posted by: JackStraw at June 07, 2025 09:33 AM (viF8m) 231

Got the offending wires dug out of the ground, found breaks about a foot uphill from the valve box, where the lawn dude's zero steer mower has been turning. Next step is apply power to the circuit and see if that's the only break. If I have power there, i'll verify the relays on the valve bodies of both valves, then wire it all back up. This time, I'll have a loop at the splice for slack and ground movement due to mowers.

I thought Musk v Trump was an elaborate hoax to preview the release of the Epstein list and more, because I couldn't believe that Musk would say what he did.
Musk just lost billions ($100B? $300B?) in personal wealth and goodwill. e.g. Tesla will survive as the last EV maker standing but it's not worth $950B -- 10x revenue! p/e is 162x, Toyota's market cap is under $300B by comparison. You could add up the market value of all the auto makers and not get $950B. Won't be long until Elon is looking up at Jeff and Mark. The people who have been running this country for years don't think DC is a problem. They think we are the problem.
They've become fabulously wealthy and powerful doing their thing. The topple governments just like they did in Ukraine and many other places. They start wars that nobody really wanted. They control the media and start narratives out of thin air. They get the judiciary to line up in opposition to the elected president and make idiotic decisions just to throw sand in the gears. And when all else fails they move on to assassinations. They aren't going to give up being masters of the universe without a fight. Posted by: JackStraw at June 07, 2025 09:53 AM (viF8m) 274

Why was the federal government paying groups like Catholic Charities hundreds of millions of dollars to bring illegals into the US? They even had plane loads of illegals being flown into the country from places like Venezuela and Cuba.
Posted by: Ignoramus at June 07, 2025 09:50 AM (Gqoy+) I don't think he's losing that much. I've heard from several sources that it's around $50 billion. I just watched the dude get run over by the ICE vehicle. What an idiot. These people should be deported solely for bringing down our average IQ.
ICE should detain all of these rioters and check citizenship status. How many illegals or visa overstays there? Even green card holders should be tossed out. And what’s it going to take for Congress to pass a law making it a felony with harsh penalties for interfering with ICE or attacking Federal police? Those laws are probably already on the books but only get enforced against grannies in MAGA hats who never even set foot inside the Capitol.
