FBI Director Kash PatelI don't know if Trump blames China for this. It might be a case of another of these Frankenvirus maniacs just deciding to play dice with human existence. Trump said he had a "very good call" with Chinese tyrant Xi over trade terms. President Trump on Thursday announced he held a lengthy and productive call with Chinese President Xi Jinping, focused "almost entirely on TRADE." Trump said both sides will soon send top officials to a follow-up meeting, location TBD. Key Details: Trump described the call with Xi as "a very good phone call...discussing some of the intricacies of our recently made, and agreed to, Trade Deal," adding the conversation "resulted in a very positive conclusion for both Countries." He named key U.S. representatives for the upcoming trade discussions: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer. Trump confirmed the discussion excluded any talk of Russia, Ukraine, or Iran, stating, "The conversation was focused almost entirely on TRADE."Update: Last week, the State Department announced that it will begin revoking Chinese "student" visas. One day after Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the U.S. would scale back visas to Chinese students, a department spokesperson emphasized that the Trump administration would fight back against China's "exploitation" of American research and intellectual property. Spokesperson for the Department of State Tammy Bruce delivered her warning against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) during a press briefing on Thursday. [RELATED: Education Department launches investigation into UPenn over foreign donations] "The United States, I further can say here, will not tolerate the CCP's exploitation of U.S. universities or theft of U.S. research, intellectual property, or technologies to grow its military power, conduct intelligence collection, or repress voices of opposition," Bruce said. In her opening remarks, Bruce noted that initiatives like pulling visas from CCP-linked students are part of the department's updated "America First" reorganizing. "Every visa adjudication is a national security decision - every single one of them," Bruce continued. The spokesperson noted China's extensive role in "exploiting" American intellectual property and research, adding that the State Department's latest strategy is "one way that [the department] can certainly try to mitigate that issue." In a brief press release on Wednesday, Secretary Rubio said that revoking student visas would place "America First, not China." "I think everyone who's here on a visa has to recognize ... that America takes their visa seriously, that vetting is not a one-time process - it's continuing," Bruce said. ![]() Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

339 Well... you might also want to put the period inside the quotation mark. See, this just makes no sense to me. The Brits have it right. In general, yes, the period typically goes inside the closing quotation mark in American English...Commas also follow the same rule and are placed inside the closing quotation mark. However, this rule is subject to some exceptions, particularly when dealing with citations or when the punctuation belongs to the entire sentence, not just the quoted material. In most American writing styles, periods and commas always go inside the closing quotation marks. British English has a different convention where periods and commas only go inside the quotation marks if they are part of the quoted text. Posted by: Archimedes at June 05, 2025 01:24 PM (s8j++) 12

Elsewhere I saw that this fungus-smuggling case might be directly connected to the previous (thus far unsolved) mystery of why Chinese nationals and front companies have been buying up huge tracts of land near US military installations.
Turns out we might have been looking at that mystery the wrong way -- the fact that the huge tracs of land were near military installations may have been irrelevant -- because those same huge tracts of land were also near or in farm/agriculture areas. Could be that the Chinese were going to infect the land that they owned so that the fungus would then spread to surrounding land and eventually spread nationwide, crippling our economy. British English has a different convention where periods and commas only go inside the quotation marks if they are part of the quoted text.
Posted by: Archimedes at June 05, 2025 01:24 PM (s8j++) Thanks for the explanation, Archimedes. The universities will do whatever they can to fight a ban of Chinese students. Because Chinese students are good, good money because they pay the highest tuition prices as international students, and are the upper tier of Chinese society. I remember staying in a hotel near the SLC airport, huge buses of Chinese tourists pulled up and filled up the hotel. I helped one of the Chinese tourists figure out how to use the coin operated laundry machines. The shuttle driver to the airport said a lot of the students, when they graduate, do a massive tour of the US with their parents, and pass through SLC on their way to Yellowstone. And I know someone in a college town that rented to Chinese grad students. Polite, nice, quiet. But their parents paid for everything. -------- Maybe not "entirely." Certainly from a business perspective, yes. But I think he did feel like he was making a difference, for the better, and believed as many do that his work at DOGE should have mattered more than it apparently did. That being said, I have read that some (maybe) of the waste, fraud and abuse uncovered by DOGE is going to be codified by Congress. Perhaps not in the amounts Musk (and we) would like, but if true, it's better than nothing. And Trump's slash and burn earlier in the year over some of the findings, while tied up in the ongoing judicial coup, should still end up in his favor. Eventually. Ahh, finally, the sternly-worded memo. Now things are happening!

> It posits that the Trump team is using the complete capture Palantir system now to identify the inner workings behind the destruction of the country.
-------- Using AI to game out every possible Democrat reaction to every Trump admin action. I've read a bunch of these "Q-like" missives. I guess everyone's got some sort of coping mechanism and writing "fan fiction" is one. Or it's true. Either way, I'm dubious. Posted by: Martini Farmer at June 05, 2025 02:48 PM (Q4IgG) 250
ike this hasn't been going on a while. Asymmetrical warfare in action. How did the Asian citrus psyllid that is wrecking our citrus industry get here? Or the Asian carp that are threatening the Great Lakes?
Curious as to how NOBODY looks into it. Posted by: Tom at June 05, 2025 01:44 PM The Asian carp came from a boneheaded idea to use them in retaining ponds to keep them clean. They didn't take into account river flooding, which overcame the ponds and allowed the carp to swim free. The perfect storm is a completely asshole Chinese-Canadian who kept importing them into Canada from the US. He was caught multiple times at the Detroit-Windsor border but the fines weren't big enough to overcome the profit from selling them for Chinese New Year. The craziest thing is that the Toronto community had a tradition of eat on fish... release the other. So who knows how many are in Ontario waters? 'Your FBI will continue working tirelessly to be on guard against it.'
You've got to be kidding (gaslighting) me! The FBI is not monochromatic (and I am beginning to doubt Kash Patel). Part of it is the Deep State (Socialist). It has been since the 60's. Think Lee Harvey Oswald (CIA Bay of Pigs). Yes it was an dichotomy, but dig deaper. We do not have a Republic, nor a Democracy. We have a Deep State that promotes ignorant POTUSs (Trump excluded. That is why 2 assassination attempts were made) such that 'The Collective' control our (unrepresentative) government in the background.
