Psalm 13:19/-24
19 How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you. 20 In the shelter of your presence you hide them from all human intrigues; you keep them safe in your dwelling from accusing tongues. 21 Praise be to the Lord, for he showed me the wonders of his love when I was in a city under siege. 22 In my alarm I said, “I am cut off from your sight!” Yet you heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help. 23 Love the Lord, all his faithful people! The Lord preserves those who are true to him, but the proud he pays back in full. 24 Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord. 1. What do you do when you struggle to sleep? Where do you find peace on sleepless nights? 2. What sounds of nature do you find most peaceful and comforting? How do these sounds remind you that God is speaking to you? 3. When have you received a message from God that helped you get through your day? What was the message? How did it help you? How are you encouraged to know that you don't have to face life alone? Posted by: FenelonSpoke at June 04, 2025 05:41 AM (r69/0) 26

Her grants gained a lot of overhead money to the school. If her research was that great, then she should be paid from the endowment fund. In college hockey games whenever the Harvard goalie allowed a goal our school tradition was for the entire crowd to stand and point at the goalie and chant in unison "It's all your fault! It's all your fault!"
Hey Harvard, it's all your fault! It's all your fault! It's all your fault! Stop your illegal discrimination. Stop victimizing Jews. Posted by: Huck Follywood at June 04, 2025 07:22 AM (1V/rV) 108

Listening to Rachmaninov Symphony No.1, Kochanovsky conducting. NRPO. Posted by: NaCly Dog at June 04, 2025 07:22 AM (u82oZ) A symphony with an interesting history. Glazunov conducted the first performance while drunk. It was a disaster. Rachmaninoff fell into a long, deep depression because of it and basically disavowed the piece. When he left Russia, the score was left behind and forgotten until the mid-1940's when the orchestral parts were found and the work reconstructed. Eugene Ormandy led the American premiere in 1948 in the first televised concert ever. I first heard it in Ashkenazy's interpretation. That'll knock you through a wall. >> Oh, wait. *Could* have. If the research is truly useful, the school can fund it directly or the research can be transferred to another school, Harvard is not the only school that does research. There are numerous joint studies that research schools conduct. This is of a piece that whenever budget cut are discussed the first thing that goes on the chopping block are teachers and cops, even those entities typically have alternative funding mechanism outside of the general budget. Thank you for the prayers for my Mom. They've assessed her and it looks like a valve issue in the heart which can be fixed with an endoscopic procedure (they'll go up through a major vein or artery and perform microsurgery that way.) Bottom line: Not immediately life threatening, but serious enough. I told her to agitate seriously for getting the surgery done sooner rather than later, because our health system up here will absolutely put you off for years if they think they can get away with it. (I'll be advocating on her behalf too if need be, and that might well be the case, and I am not put off easily.) Posted by: Grumpy and Recalcitrant at June 04, 2025 09:47 AM (O7YUW) 122

A guy on my investment board has the cloned pets. He keeps 3-4 living clones at any given time. I think he is a few generations down the line now and has used both Viagen and the Korean lab.
I think he said they are something like $50k a pop IIRC. Posted by: Thatch at June 04, 2025 10:43 AM (jaD5Q) 124
Cloned pets really are pretty common. I got an otherwise totally normal Christmas photo from a friend last year, showing her family gathered for the holiday, and there were 3 cloned dogs in the frame - one a direct clone of the original, 2 who were clones of the copy. Must be nice.
