81 I enjoy this kind of painting with the wonderful use of light, detail, composition, and pose of the figures. I find the scene with its romanticized realism draws the viewer in as they notice more and more of all the subtle and bigger details of the painting. Then the questions begin: Who is the girl? What is her situation? She is clearly comfortable and at ease but not wealthy. And what happens after she leaves the alley?

Reminds me of many NC Wyeth illustrations. They show the immediate scene but the sense of what happens next is always in the viewer's mind.

Oh, I agree. With any luck this surgery will be truly minor (I see my doctor tomorrow) and the recovery swift. It'd be pretty insane to set off on a multi-day trip if I'm not physically ready.

I read somewhere that the war in Algeria, 1954 to early 60s, really messed up harvesting the briar and it didn't come back to the same degree. (The Frogs fire bombed the area that had the most briar.) There is probably some still available but les than before. Also, What makes Algerian briar so good requires a much longer growth period and years of seasoning.

Back when the Internet really took off and we were able to download "rips" of movies and TV shows, I was thrilled to snag a 700MB movie file with 360p res!

If you told me 20 years ago I'd be downloading single movie files 15GB big, I wouldn't believe it.

Doing OK! Things are very crazy at her job (like lawyers-involved-crazy) and the CEO decided to go on a cruise. She and her partner somehow got ahold of a weather balloon and inflated it in his office, so when he got back and opened his door, there was a big wall of fabric looking back at him.

Having worked fraud for a major credit card company I have to tell you how easy it is for scammers to hoodwink lonely ladies and gents into getting themselves thousands of dollars in debt doing the gift card scam. The women and men were so shocked to learn that their on line boyfriends or girlfriends were in fact scammers. They so wanted to believe they had found true love. It was very sad.

257 The original on-stage 1964 Felix was . . . Art Carney, famous in the previous decade as Ed Norton. Jack Lemmon played him in the film with Walter Matthau re-creating his role as Oscar. Then came Tony Randall, who made the character a lot more fussy, which was even funnier.

There was a remake a few years ago with Matthew Perry as Oscar and some actor I don't know as Felix, and it was as unfunny as you might imagine. Perry might have made a better Felix if they hadn't wanted the character to seem gay.

It's a nice painting; again, pretty colors, beautiful detailing & highlighting. (However, posing was probably arduous and the rather fair skinned young women looks like she'd like to kick a pigeon or two.)

You could be right, but I think that's more an example, in both those movies, of the "magic pussy girl".

The gal who once the flirty boy sleeps with her realizes how empty his life has been and marriage to her would make his life better.

I believe making his life better is always the key component to most rom-coms.
