79 The religious (and cultural?) moral in the painting is obvious: the wealth, power, and domination of the world is fleeting and won't bring one more second of life. But it is told with exquisite talent. The brilliant and appropriate use of color, the realistic detail, The placement of the objects in shadow versus the angel with her warning all set the mood and impact of the scene. The banner reads : "Eternally it stings, swiftly it flies and it kills".

He was Spanish but this, and other still life works by Pereda are part of that Low Country style from the period that are amazingly rich and eye catching. I can look at this kind of art for hours, taking in the artistry.

121 "We have uncovered a large Christian veneration cave complex that was used by Christian pilgrims who came to venerate the water-to-wine miracle," McCollough said.

"This complex was used beginning in the late fifth or early sixth century and continued to be used by pilgrims into the 12th-century Crusader period."

During his excavation, McCollough also uncovered an altar and a shelf with a stone vessel.

He noted that there was space for five additional jars, consistent with the biblical account of six stone jars.

On the walls of the complex, his team of excavators also uncovered references to Kyrie Iesou, a Koine Greek phrase meaning Lord Jesus.

ANW, I'm in your cohort, and I admit I'll get sleepy after lunch and in the evenings in front of the TV. *Symbolizing the transience of life, the futility of pleasure, and the certainty of death, and thus the vanity of ambition and all worldly desires.

196 Even the cost of Humility is subject to inflation:

VATICAN CITY (LifeSiteNews) — Recent investigations have revealed that one of Pope Francis’ most notable and purportedly “humble” decisions actually cost the Vatican around €200,000 a month.

For the past 12 years, secular pundits and close allies of Pope Francis have relentlessly pushed the message that his humility is striking. One of the earliest and most prominent examples cited to support this argument was Francis’ decision to reject the papal apartments in the Apostolic Palace in favor of the Casa Santa Marta guesthouse.
....
Francis famously decided not to live in the traditional papal suite in the Apostolic Palace, and also rejected the summer residence of Castel Gandolfo. Both decisions were cited by his allies as evidence of an immensely humble man.

Jean-Pierre herself has switched her affiliation to independent after working in two Democratic administrations, according to Legacy Lit, a Hachette Book Group imprint that will publish “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines” on Oct. 21.
