Author Frederick Forsyth just died at age 86. He was a rare bestselling fiction author who didn't turn out to be an insufferable leftist (think John Grisham). In fact, some people point to Forsyth's plot in "The Fourth Protocol" of being quite prescient [in the novel, the USSR wants to take over the UK by making sure it controls the leaders of the Labour Party].

Any dog that enjoys doing something is an absolute monomaniac about it. The 300th time is just as fun as the 1st. Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh ============= This is why I've been known to get bored while baby-sitting. I once entertained a 5-year-old who went through rapid-fire, ENDLESS cycles of changing, feeding, and and napping a baby. "Okay, let's change her now!" "It's time for a nap!" (one second later) "Time to eat!" We must have gone through it, honestly, 40 times. I tried to break it by asking her what she likes to do at kindergarten and she gave me a blank look. The question "Do penguins belong in art?" has long been debated. The early Greeks answered with a resounding "NON!", setting the trend for many years until the Renaissance, when certain French painters began incorporating poorly disguised Spheniscidae into their creations, masquerading as nuns and oddly shaped livestock. The Spanish Inquisition put an end to all of that, until early in the 20th century, when communist and Nazi sympathizing artists began blatantly incorporating mephitic messages in their mediums, including painting and carvings. These obscene objects merely set the stage for what was yet to come.

Also not much like bats. This is why I've been known to get bored while baby-sitting. I once entertained a 5-year-old who went through rapid-fire, ENDLESS cycles of changing, feeding, and and napping a baby. When I was a kid, like 8 or so, my parents had me visit the family of a girl who was like 7 (I think they were trying to connect us). Little Angela wanted to play house, which to her consisted of kissing me good bye in the morning and hello when I came home from work, which was basically a 10 second cycle. I think she just wanted to kiss, and all I wanted was to go explore the orchard next to the house LOL Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at June 09, 2025 08:04 PM (e7kz6) 67

Maybe. But what is the alternative? California is ground zero for illegals and we all want them gone. Despite what leftists say now the rioting started last Friday when ICE started doing raids and arresting people. Just walking away from California and letting it burn is not a serious solution. Last I looked people from California are able to travel wherever they want in the US. The LA police were not doing anything to assist or protect ICE. Should they have just been left to handle the mob by themselves? They carry weapons too but they would be badly outnumbered. During the 92 LA riots Bush sent in both the Army and the Marines. I don't remember serious blowback on that. Various NG outfits have on the border for years. No idea what they will be allowed to do but the LA police are hugely outnumbered and their political leaders have so far not allowed them to do much of anything other than stand around and watch and get rocks tossed at them. The new John Wicke style movie "Ballerina" only pulled in 25 million over the weekend. That's quite a bit of money in one context, but for a 90 million dollar movie its not very promising.
Theories are numerous but the main one seems to be that Hollywood has so annoyed people with noxious girl boss movies with women who can do no wrong humiliating men and defeating enemies three times their size that people just assume whatever comes out will just be more of that and give it a pass. According to reviews, Ballerina is not that, at all. But by now who trusts Hollywood with a female lead? Especially in an action movie? I mean, when was the last good one, Aliens? Evening, folken,
Earlier today I was trying to figure out the circumference inside a hat I want to sell on eBay. It's a little big on me, so I know it's got to be over size 7 US, but how far? There is no size tag. Putting a tape measure inside doesn't work too well, as it keeps slipping. It turns out (according to the 'Net) there is no exact formula for the perimeter of an ellipse or oval. There are several ways to get approximations. Pi and a square root are both involved. I found a site with a calculator, entered the semi-major and semi-minor axes, and got 22.43 inches, about size 7 1/8 to 7 1/4. When I tried doing the math myself I got about 66 inches, so I must have not divided by 3 or I must have multiplied somewhere by 3. String and some masking tape. Tape one end of the string down to the inside of the hat that needs measuring leaving its tail end exposed. Next, tape the string down as you trace the circumference. When the string overlaps the initial spot mark the string with a sharpie. Undo everything and tape the string down on a flat surface and then measure it. Total time: 15 minutes max. Optimize as needed. Posted by: Altaria Pilgram - My President has convictions at June 09, 2025 09:33 PM (NXz8h) 270

We saw "Ballerina" today. It's a tremendous amount of fun. Just a great action movie that just builds and builds, getting more crazy as it goes along. I could give some examples but that would just spoil the fun. Go in blind if you can. The story's more or less John Wick with a little girl training to be an assassin to get revenge on the man who killed her father. I suppose you could see a bit of girl boss if you wished but early on there's a training scene where a male trainee just keeps whipping her butt and she complains that she can't win cuz he's bigger and stronger, so- Eve's trainer tells her that everyone is bigger than her so she needs to cheat, exploit her opponents weaknesses, don't try to fight fair, fight with anything and everything she can, improvise "Ballerina" takes that bit of advice to the max and that's what makes the movie so fun. Eve often finds herself in a bad spot but then uses whatever she can to get out of it. One great thing about the movie is that once Eve finds a weapon to even the odds, she keeps using it in wilder ways until she no longer can. Excellent summer action flick with a John Wick bonus. Check it out. Posted by: naturalfake at June 09, 2025 09:43 PM (iJfKG) 296

Hey, fellow Morons! Mr. Bassman and I are traveling soon and will be northwest of Chicago on June 22 unsupervised (also maybe the 23rd). We might be interested in attending church with any Horde friends in the area or perhaps meeting up for lunch or dinner.

I just don't want to see more depressing video of LAPD or Sheriffs getting attacked, vandalized, flamed, and streets getting shut down and civilian cars burned while federal agents stand by because this isn't their area of authority.

Rumor is, Marines possess a thing called 'gas pack', it's like a back pack only it's a gas generator with a hose. Think flame thrower only it can spray tear gas 50 yards forward.

Seems to me that the National Guard/US Army could set up a perimeter around the terrorists. Then start dropping neon dye on the terrorists so they are an easy-peasy ID. This is in addition to geo fencing the cell phones in that area. Then let the LEO's push the terrorists in a fleet of prison buses that will soon be headed to the California/Nevada desert where the finest summer jail camps are waiting. After that it is jail or deportation.

Miss Linda wants to attend a yoga session at our suburban library on Thursday morning. Not just yoga, mind you. Kitten yoga. With real kittens, she says. RICO was passed in the 70s but nobody really knew how to use it until Rudy Giuliani used it in the 90s to gut the mafia. Personally I think its extremely questionable legal concept, but it has been used successfully. Its what the Patriot act was based on.
