My brother & his wife are basically foster parenting a pit-bull now.

'Spicey' won't give up a ball.
She wants you to pry this slobber covered ball (she has about 20 around the backyard) out of her vise-grip jaws.

Eventually she'll give up and drop it at your feet if you ignore her long enough.

She'll play fetch for so long that's she'll drink a half a bowl of water in one sitting when she's done.

When I was a kid, like 8 or so, my parents had me visit the family of a girl who was like 7 (I think they were trying to connect us). Little Angela wanted to play house, which to her consisted of kissing me good bye in the morning and hello when I came home from work, which was basically a 10 second cycle.

I think she just wanted to kiss, and all I wanted was to go explore the orchard next to the house LOL

Maybe. But what is the alternative? California is ground zero for illegals and we all want them gone. Despite what leftists say now the rioting started last Friday when ICE started doing raids and arresting people. Just walking away from California and letting it burn is not a serious solution. Last I looked people from California are able to travel wherever they want in the US.

The LA police were not doing anything to assist or protect ICE. Should they have just been left to handle the mob by themselves? They carry weapons too but they would be badly outnumbered.

No idea what they will be allowed to do but the LA police are hugely outnumbered and their political leaders have so far not allowed them to do much of anything other than stand around and watch and get rocks tossed at them.

Earlier today I was trying to figure out the circumference inside a hat I want to sell on eBay. It's a little big on me, so I know it's got to be over size 7 US, but how far? There is no size tag. Putting a tape measure inside doesn't work too well, as it keeps slipping.

It turns out (according to the 'Net) there is no exact formula for the perimeter of an ellipse or oval. There are several ways to get approximations. Pi and a square root are both involved. I found a site with a calculator, entered the semi-major and semi-minor axes, and got 22.43 inches, about size 7 1/8 to 7 1/4.

When I tried doing the math myself I got about 66 inches, so I must have not divided by 3 or I must have multiplied somewhere by 3.

String and some masking tape. Tape one end of the string down to the inside of the hat that needs measuring leaving its tail end exposed. Next, tape the string down as you trace the circumference. When the string overlaps the initial spot mark the string with a sharpie. Undo everything and tape the string down on a flat surface and then measure it. Total time: 15 minutes max. Optimize as needed.

I'll try it. But the calculator gave me about what I expected. The hat has to be about 22" inside; 21 7/8 fits me perfectly, and this hat, a Western, is a little too big to fit me even with padding under the sweatband. (It was a gift to me from the Denver Stock Show in 1998, and was always too big.)

We saw "Ballerina" today.

It's a tremendous amount of fun. Just a great action movie that just builds and builds, getting more crazy as it goes along. I could give some examples but that would just spoil the fun. Go in blind if you can.

The story's more or less John Wick with a little girl training to be an assassin to get revenge on the man who killed her father.

I suppose you could see a bit of girl boss if you wished but early on there's a training scene where a male trainee just keeps whipping her butt and she complains that she can't win cuz he's bigger and stronger, so-

Eve's trainer tells her that everyone is bigger than her so she needs to cheat, exploit her opponents weaknesses, don't try to fight fair, fight with anything and everything she can, improvise

"Ballerina" takes that bit of advice to the max and that's what makes the movie so fun.

Eve often finds herself in a bad spot but then uses whatever she can to get out of it. One great thing about the movie is that once Eve finds a weapon to even the odds, she keeps using it in wilder ways until she no longer can.

Excellent summer action flick with a John Wick bonus.

RICO was passed in the 70s but nobody really knew how to use it until Rudy Giuliani used it in the 90s to gut the mafia. Personally I think its extremely questionable legal concept, but it has been used successfully. Its what the Patriot act was based on.
