Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 5/ 28 /25![]() Republican Texas Rep. Brandon Gill blasted Democrats on Fox Business Tuesday over the Memorial Day weekend and accused them of engaging in a “bizarre and grotesque” public display of sympathy for a deported MS-13 gang member. Maryland Democratic Rep. Glenn Ivey traveled to El Salvador over Memorial Day in an unsuccessful bid to meet with deported and alleged MS-13 member Kilmar Abrego Garcia, becoming the latest Democrat to publicly advocate for his return to the U.S. During an appearance on “The Bottom Line,” Gill blasted Ivey’s action as tone-deaf and offensive, especially on a weekend meant to honor fallen American service members.Second case: Democrat New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is sticking to her far-left views on immigration despite a growing number of Democrats changing their tune on border security issues. Ocasio-Cortez, a rumored 2028 presidential candidate who is viewed as a rising leader in the Democratic Party, renewed her calls for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in a campaign email published Monday evening. The socialist firebrand’s decision to commit to a viewpoint out of step with a majority of voters comes as many Democrats have sought to distance themselves from the “abolish ICE” bandwagon that some strategists believe has hurt the party’s brand. “I believe that ICE, an agency that was just formed in 2003 during the Patriot Act era, is a rogue agency that should not exist,” an Ocasio-Cortez campaign email said Monday slamming critics that consider the far-left congresswoman “extreme.” The New York Democrat, who called for the abolition of ICE during President Donald Trump’s first term, also posted content to social media earlier this year advising illegal migrants on how to evade ICE arrests. A majority of voters — including Democrats — appear to reject Ocasio-Cortez’s “abolition ICE” advocacy, according to recent polling.I guess yet again, an example of the Left Hand not knowing what the FAR LEFT hand is doing. All the way to the midterms and beyond Democrats. Keep on digging, eventually you'll strike Satan right on the head. Of course, it's too bad we lack a GOP that can take full advantage of Democrat/Leftist disarray, case in point the whole madness surrounding the arguments over the so-called "Big Beautiful Bill." While DOGE and the exposure of the insanity at Harvard and academia in general by cutting off the brainwashing mills from taxpayer funding are certainly big wins. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis slammed Congressional Republicans on Tuesday over their lack of action on cutting the government waste and abuse identified by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). . . . . . In a post on X, DeSantis put the heat on Republicans to do just that, pointing out that DOGE Chief Elon Musk “took massive incoming,” which included “attacks on his companies” and “personal smears” while leading the DOGE effort. “He became public enemy #1 of legacy media around the world,” DeSantis wrote. “To see Republicans in Congress cast aside any meaningful spending reductions (and, in fact, fully fund things like USAID) is demoralizing and represents a betrayal of the voters who elected them,” the governor added. DeSantis was commenting on a post by Matt Van Swol, an independent journalist from North Carolina, who had blasted Republicans on X, Monday. “DOGE is literally one of the most popular government initiatives in history,” Van Swol wrote. “73% of Americans say they support cutting government waste. Trump brought in the smartest man on earth to do it … the Left destroyed Elon for it … the GOP won’t vote on it. I can’t believe this.” . . . “We have a Republican Congress and to this day, we’re at the end of May, past Memorial Day, and not one CENT in DOGE cuts have been implemented by the Congress!” DeSantis cried. And on the international front, President Trump seems to be more preoccupied with doing exactly the wrong things, be it with the whole Ukraine debacle and in feeding raw sugar to a cancerous tumor. A senior Trump administration official told The Daily Wire that the White House is “proud” to back GHF’s “incredible mission” and that the group is a direct threat to “Hamas’ longstanding system of looting the assistance intended for the people of Gaza.” “The U.N. and other aid agencies were wrong to criticize – aid is getting to the people in need and through their secure distribution system, Israel is kept safe and Hamas empty-handed,” the official said. According to GHF, Hamas has made death threats to aid groups supporting GHF’s operationsSadly, as has been confirmed on numerous occasions since the October 7 mass attack/pogrom there are no innocent civilians in Gaza, newborns and crawling infants perhaps notwithstanding, but parents and children alike were complicit in the kidnappings and imprisonment of Israeli hostages or at a minimum cheering on the butchery of the Jews. That President Trump and his advisers have yet to realize this is a head-scratcher. Obviously, from an optics standpoint he cannot give a thumbs up for the IDF to go all out and wipe out Hamas regardless of the collateral damage to "civilians." But that said, it is the civilians and their government that they put in power HAMAS that are to blame for their own suffering by waging a genocidal war against Israel, leaving the latter no real alternative. But, the problem is not Hamas. The problem is ISLAM itself. Hamas is merely a weapon/manifestation of the latter. And this is the case with Iran as well as in Syria where President Trump and company are impressed with a Mohammedan ISIS thug merely because a second hand John Gotti Brioni suit looks good on him. Meh, Islam is the world's problem and unless and until the world decides to openly and loudly declare its right to defend civilization from its millennium and-a-half long rampage that can only end in an Islamic world conquest which would be the real end of History as we Fukuyama ourselves in the head. Unless the Chi-Coms beat them to the punch. Or perhaps if we're lucky . . . A 3.6 magnitude earthquake struck near Soda Springs, Idaho, about 100 miles from the famous Yellowstone supervolcano caldera, renewing some concerns about a potential eruption. . . While geologists are still investigating the Friday morning quake, the Yellowstone supervolcano influences seismic activity in this region due to its massive magma chamber and connected fault lines. It generates 1,500 to 2,000 small earthquakes each year, most of which are weaker than 2.0 on the Richter scale of magnitude. These tremors usually shake areas within the Yellowstone Caldera and nearby fault zones, but the supervolcano can also influence seismic activity over 100 miles away.Things that make you go boom . . . Congress is a bastion of cowards. Instead of seeking what’s best for the country, you have frauds like Lawler from NY along with the “SALT” Caucus looking to bankrupt the country in order to pay for their states profligate spending and oppressive taxation. It wasn’t about the “cuts” or fiscal responsibility to these caitiffs, who by the way have never given anything to our country. It was once again about what they could steal from others in order to satiate their short-sighted, selfish, conceit. They are everything that’s wrong with Congress- less focused on the greater good and therefore unable to offer new and innovative solutions to our problems that may require a level of sacrifice. They are craven invertebrates without the spine nor brains to lead and succeed when our country needs it most. Disgusting.

A Newsmax article regarding DeSantis slamming the GOPe for failure to codify DOGE cuts has this lovely quote:
Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., was far more dismissive, saying the GOP is too busy to rid government of the waste, fraud, and abuse left over from former Democrat President Joe Biden's administration that was unearthed by DOGE. "I don't know that we should be taking our limited legislative time to look at that," Wicker incredulously told Politico. "I don't think legislation is called for." ------- In a short video posted on 𝕏 a dejected Musk said "it's just not worth it" referring to a return to DOGE in the future to continue it's work. None of the waste, fraud and abuse uncovered is going to be codified by the Republican congress. The entire process DOGE started would have to be re-run next year to uncover (again) the same shit. That assumes the pseudo government agency continues to operate. Posted by: Martini Farmer at May 28, 2025 07:36 AM (Q4IgG) 23
Good morning, J.J. The mid terms are going to be interesting. Republicans are being put in a position to where all they have to say is, "Hey, we're not them." As long as the border is secure and a couple of things are done around the edges, the GOP won't really have to do much, because Democrats have gone crazy.

When put up against Mark Lynch — a businessman who announced his campaign for Graham’s seat earlier this year — Graham still failed to garner majority support, as 43 percent said they would support him compared to 29 percent for Lynch. However, nearly a quarter, 23 percent, remain unsure — more than enough to swing the race. (

This is why the Republicans fear AOC. She is one of the country’s most intelligent, competent, articulate, and media-savvy politicians. That’s why Republicans continue to disparage her.
Her refusal to yield—on substance or style—has made her the GOP’s favorite foil and its most persistent nightmare. Last week’s 3 a.m. Medicaid-hearing clash again displayed why: she fused wonky interrogation with direct, televised appeals to voters, leaving Republican committee members visibly rattled. Her mastery of social media, her ability to translate policy into plain English, and her unapologetically progressive agenda combine to threaten the right’s preferred narrative that big ideas can be shouted down with derision. Republicans do not merely dislike AOC; they fear her capacity to reshape the political battlefield Conservatives—from Randy Weber to JD Vance—attack her persona as much as her policies, evidence that her popularity and policy fluency imperil their cultural playbook. Her core agenda—embodied in the Green New Deal—ties economic justice to climate action, a linkage Republicans aim to sever by scrapping clean-energy tax credits in the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Posted by: Intercepted Daily Kos Transmissions brought by the Intrepid AoS Liaison at May 28, 2025 07:50 AM (ycI94) 43

From Brave AI:
Kush, a synthetic drug prevalent in Sierra Leone, has been rumored to contain ground human bones, though there is no direct evidence confirming this claim. The drug is a dangerous mixture of substances including cannabis, fentanyl, tramadol, formaldehyde, and disinfectants. It is particularly harmful due to its unpredictable composition, which can lead to severe health issues and addiction. So it’s marijuana, and two synthetic opioids mixed with some crazy additives. If it’s got weed in it, then I’m guessing you are supposed to smoke it? You can snort crushed pills but I can’t imagine trying to snort anything with weed in it. I’m guessing this stuff looks like crack with a green hue or something. I can’t imagine what the human bones could be for other than texture and used as a calcium supplement. Depends on which Communist you hear from who is talking about tarifs. One Communist will say that the price of everything will skyrocket (which means the tariffs are in the high hundreds of billions or low trillions) Another Communist, after hearing an explanation that the income will lower taxes and diminish the deficits, will say that the tariff revenue is ~only~ 50 or 60 billion. There will never be a coherent and honest discussion on anything with Communists, every thing, thought or act is transmogrified and perverted into an instrument of obtaining and wielding political power. Why would a politician in DC want to reform the government? They have everything in place now that insures their ability to enrich themselves and remain in office until they’re ready to move on to their lobbyist job or corporate board position. To think that there is a desire to reform government in DC is ridiculous.

It's the *exact* same Paul Ryan strategy from 2017, because you go with what you know works. Refuse to move Trump's agenda in any meaningful way. Lose the majority at the midterms, even if it takes a bunch of early retirements to get it done. Then stand aside and let the Democrat House and Senate GOP freeze Trump legislatively.
It's literally like watching a rerun. The twist in this episode of Shell Game II: Return of the Cucklings is that Trump is just doing everything without these repulsive sacks of gibbet meat by using executive orders. Thus the new need for hyper aggressive judicial usurpations to contain those. The Party has to put in special teams. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at May 28, 2025 08:30 AM (BI5O2) 154

Bondi comes in for a lot of fire here (including from me) for her perceived lack of action .
But, I'm starting to notice, there's no action really from the other departments either. Other than a few policy announcements--not action, just announcements--and excluding the DOGE cuts: What have any of the rest done? And especially on the DOGE cuts. Many of the illegal writs of mandamus from the courts rested on the specious claims that DOGE didn't have the authority to order the cuts, only the department head. Well? We're waiting! Where are the additional cuts? Where are the additional firings? Where are the memos directing and enacting the DOGE reforms? Adopting the DOGE recommendations as policy? Going farther than DOGE, on the roadmap laid out? Most of these illegal orders would be moot if they acted. Momentum is stalling. And that only benefits the left. Senator Chris Murphy is another northeastern Democrat who demonstrates what passes for thinking on their side of the aisle:
“the Republican Party still does essentially operate like a cult. And that’s not fundamentally different in the Senate than it is in the House. I mean, yes, you’ve got people like Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins who, you know, are definitely going to have a hard time voting for these massive cuts, but after that, you know, my read is that Donald Trump kind of can say jump and everybody else in the Senate probably says how high? So the Republican Party is the Republican Party today, and right now, he’s got an enormous amount of power. Now, if he forces these senators, as he did in the House, to vote for $15 billion of Medicaid cuts, and the corruption continues at the level that it is, I think they’re going to get smoked in the midterms. Donald Trump doesn’t need to stand for reelection three years from now. So what does he care? But I’m not necessarily sure that you’re going to see the kind of independence that the Senate used to exercise, and Republicans used to exercise even just 3 or 4 years ago.” Posted by: Huck Follywood at May 28, 2025 08:37 AM (lbCXT) 176

It's part of the frustration that cry few on our side in Congress even talk about the planned rescission process and of course the media keeps quiet on it preferring Republicans tear each other apart instead. As I posted about MTG says she's been told the first rescission bill is coming next week. Hopefully, that's true but it was always part of the process. Rescission allows for cuts to be made to prior Congressionally approved discretionary spending. Only discretionary spending. I wonder if DeSantis wants to take over DOGE from Musk...
Posted by: runner at May 28, 2025 08:47 AM (g47mK) 1. DeSantis is a lawyer. However well he may have performed in Florida, tech and finance are not his bailiwick. 2. Assuming that DeSantis were to take over DOGE, he would - likely - be another "special temporary" employee and, therefore, limited to 120 days. 3. It would be a thankless task. Either the Congress - spit - codifies what DOGE has already found, in which case Musk will get the credit/blame, or they do not, in which case DeSantis risks getting tarred by failure. I read the intro to Saira Rao's book (saw it in the $1 bin at used book store) and it is Kafka-esque, intense hatred of whites. Spoiler alert, Jake: Every possible reaction you might have confirms your racism -- and even wanting to sit back and learn from non-whites is bad, because you are then demanding work from them to educate you. - The worst part is their inability to understand what they're doing or the outcome of the actions. People aren't just becoming numb to absurd cries of racism. People are actively laughing at them and standing up and rejecting them, with people becoming less and less afraid to accept their newfound knowledge and openly be the racists they're accused of being anyway. He also worked for U.S. attorney Eric Holder..." Ivey "coordinated the Senate investigation into the suicide of Vince Foster."[10] Reportedly, the suicide occurred on the afternoon of July 20, 1993, in Fort Marcy Park, Fairfax Cty, VA. Back in the mid 70's when I was a waif I visited a cousin who had a Rick Derringer album in their daylight basement rec room along with the obligatory console TV / record player and a pool table. Being so much younger than those around me I had excess time to myself. I spent more than several days listening to Hang on Sloopy and knocking balls around without purpose. At some point cousin noticed my doings and found a scratch on this album. The truth is I have no memory of scratching it, but it is a bit of an Occam's Razor moment. I wrote to him yesterday when I heard the news, of which he had already heard. Just another bit of memories fading into the horizon. Rest In Peace.
