Prolly so. "Newborn" is more idiomatic for English. And since this has "né," the child is probably a boy.

115 A lovely and loving scene. Every element from the choice of colors to the poses to the details of the setting reflect quiet peace and the sense of new life. The people are healthy, young, and cherishing the moment. Their life is not fancy based on the simple setting, the father's work clothes and tool bag, the wooden furniture and cloth. Effective and evocative.

All Wiki talked about was Gill's caricatures. If this is the same artist he was versatile and equally effective away from the political magazine illustrations.

142 Sadly, lying may be part of the social justice activist archetype. In “Repressive Tolerance,” a veritable how-to for leftist activism, Herbert Marcuse argued that anything called truth by hegemony is an instrument of domination. The logic is that if truth is oppressive, lying must be liberating. If a person challenges the preferred narrative, his or her individual integrity no longer matters.

Social justice activists on the left, and increasingly on the right, seem to answer Thomas Sowell’s famous question, “Is Reality Optional?” with a “yes,” as long as the goal is justice for the downtrodden. Examples include the exaggerated rate of police killings of unarmed Black men on the left and the craze of the “QAnon” conspiracy theory on the right. Each demonized the other’s ideological foundations, which was really all that mattered.

And they specifically said we’re not ruling on the merits of the Tarriffs, we’re ruling on whether the president has legal authority to impose them. Congress needs to implement Tarriffs is what they said.

In a sane world Johnson and Thune would be writing a bill right now to implement the tariffs which would be on Trump’s desk by lunch time. But the gop is a pile of dogshit so of course it is not happening.

It'd be one thing if the court ruled the law itself unconstitutional. Instead, it says, "We don't like the president's reasoning, even though the statute doesn't negate it because the judiciary doesn't like his reasoning."

It's a stupid, bad ruling, and the only proper response is, at best, malicious compliance. "Oh, sure, we'll get on that. By the way, our email system is kind of slow right now. Get back to us in a week after the higher court has agreed to stay your ruling."

210 Fast forward five years and the subjects of the painting go to the circus. As they take their seats Dad announces he'll go and get popcorn and sodas. Son looks around and sees the elephant pen.
Son: Mom, what's that long thing on the elephant?
Mom: That's the trunk.
Son: No, the other long thing.
Mom: Oh, that's its tail
Son: No, the long thing between its legs
Mom, all embarrassed: It's nothing, just ignore it.
Dad comes back with the refreshments and Mom leaves to use the bathroom.
Son: Dad, what's that long thing on the elephant?
Dad: That's the trunk.
Son: No! I know the trunk and the tail. What's that thing between it's legs? Mom says it's nothing.
Dad chuckles: Well Son, I've ruined that woman.

247 It'd be one thing if the court ruled the law itself unconstitutional. Instead, it says, "We don't like the president's reasoning, even though the statute doesn't negate it because the judiciary doesn't like his reasoning."
----
That's basically the core of every single illegal injunction against Trump:
We disagree with the reasoning of the President, therefore, his act violates the law/due process/etc.

One of the biggest "fuck that thing we used to claim we believed" of the last 4 months has been the complete abandonment of the "rational basis" test.

Used to be, the courts (as eager handmaids to the state) claimed that the highest rule of statutory interpretation was limited to a review of whether there was any rational basis whatsoever--even if not ever stated by the government--for the law/action.
Unless it involved a core or fundamental right.

It was just a fig leaf to bless pretty much any and all government action.

Until they discovered the secret "Orange Man Bad" clause of the Constitution.
Now it's "the court's judgment of the rational shall be substituted and supersede that of the duly elected President."

The fact that she even feels the need to list them is a red flag. That action acknowledges the bogus idea that one can choose one's own pronouns. Pronouns are parts of speech that are by people when speaking of others. If I see a man, I say "he, him". If I see a woman, I say "she, her". If I really can't tell, I will go with "it", or "that fucking thing there" (points).

During Covid, she had a post about the necessity of vaccines.

Which was couched within a statement about her being happy she was vaccinated because it limited her Covid symptoms.

Meanwhile, my wife is out here all MAHA this and RFK that. I dodged several bullets.

If I see pronouns listed I know there's gonna be trouble.

🇦🇷 MILEI PUTS LIBERTARIAN CARTOON ON STATE TV

Javier Milei is swapping Marx for Milton, rebooting Argentina’s state-run kids channel Paka Paka with a libertarian twist.

Out go the Kirchnerist cartoons.

In comes Tuttle Twins, a U.S. series where kids time-travel with their grandma to learn about capitalism, inflation, and the “evils of taxes.”

Think Friedman, Hayek, and Mises… for 10-year-olds.

293 210 Fast forward five years and the subjects of the painting go to the circus.
