Speaking of projects, I volunteered myself to help my neighbor to put in some raised garden beds.
Built the wooden boxes, loaded, unloaded and then dumped many bags of soil. Then pounded fence posts and put up chicken wire around it to try and keep bunnies out. It doesn't sound so bad in only two sentences, but it was two half days gone that I wasn't planning on. But I'll get some fresh veggies out of it. Never liked gin nor rum. Brandy has to be a good blend to be acceptable neat though I do like it with a cola. Scotch is the only spirit I can enjoy regardless of blend, brand, etc. though I am partial to single malts.

50 Why do they call them reverse mortgages?
Are you giving the bank money so they pay *you* with interest? Posted by: Robert at May 26, 2025 06:56 PM (rbFJ9) -------- Quite simple, Watson. In a regular mortgage the bank lends you money so you can acquire a house. In a reverse mortgage the bank lends you money so it can take your house. Posted by: Cicero (@cicero43) at May 26, 2025 07:00 PM (hY4dx) 60
A reverse mortgage is where you mail a Reverse card from Uno to the bank and the have to start sending you monthly payments, or they can mail back a Reverse card if they hold one.

I love Timothy Dalton but it seems Pierce Brosnan as 007 was just better.
Posted by: Anna Puma at May 26, 2025 07:27 PM (JOvrg) Timothy Dalton was a great villain in Season 4 of Chuck. He seemed to have fun with that role. Posted by: Hour of the Wolf at May 26, 2025 07:30 PM (VNX3d) Ditto on Dalton as the grocery store manager villain in Hot Fuzz. Posted by: Count de Monet at May 26, 2025 07:35 PM (Aqu9a) 116
SMOD that is horrible. It's not like people stick keys in their mouths. Or books - that was another fine piece of legislation because old books had lead paint sometimes in the cover illustrations.

I did like the Brosnan 007 movies, but Sean Connery is my favorite Bond.

JackStraw, I want to go to Doggie Heaven. I don't like being around people, lol, so Doggie Heaven would be perfect. Posted by: four seasons at May 26, 2025 07:38 PM (3ek7K) 119
Banning lead in keys seems dumb. Kids that get lead poisoning these days probably get it from chewing on cheap shitty toys and other products from ChyNa these days. Actual keys are a bit sharp and hard to be letting babies gum them.

Posted by: NaughtyPine ==== I recall in early grade school-life, 1st grade, early 70's, we had to watch a film telling us not to eat paint chips... Walking out a couple of us were like, WTF*, who eats paint chips? * Not sure what terms we used, prolly you had to be a retard... We knew what a 'retard' was. So what anime did you add to the collection Robert?
Posted by: Anna Puma at May 26, 2025 07:21 PM (JOvrg) The last thing I got was seasons three and four of the new Urusei Yatsura series. It was on sale. :B Macross Zero is currently sitting at my sister's place. I await an opportunity to pick it up. Posted by: Robert at May 26, 2025 07:43 PM (HJOWG) 122
They had a forensic files case where some Muzlim refugee kid died of lead poisoning. They went after the landlord for not removing all the lead paint in the section 8 housing they put the refugees in. The kid was actively eating flaking paint like it was tater chips, but it wasn't the lazy ass parents' fault for letting her do that, or for not scraping the peeling paint themselves, oh no it was the evil landlord.

There was one James Bond. Sean Connery, He owned it.

lead paint that is peeling off often has lead acetate forming on it as the paint decomposes. It is sweet to the taste, and kids will chew on it if they are hungry or not well nourished.

I guess the state or feds had told the landlord he needed to get the old lead paint removed, so he was legally liable for not doing it, but the way the show presented the case like the 'evil capitalist' was the only bad guy pissed me off.

Like I said, retards.
Even then, Here try the red paint, it taste like strawberry. Even as first graders we mocked that crap. Posted by: Itinerant Alley Butcher at May 26, 2025 07:53 PM (/lPRQ) 128
I think the kid was nourished in Idaho or wherever they were sent Kindletot, but had developed whatever they call it where kids will just eat anything they can manage to swallow when they were in the war torn muzzie country. Still doesn't excuse the parents for just ignoring their kid eating paint IMO.

The Governor of Minnesoooda should get tested for lead poisoning. He probably has eaten a lot of lead paint.

I never stopped to ask why some keys are brass and some are steel. The cheaper locks (Kwikset) appear to be steel while the Schlage locks are brass.
