Amazon is about to reduce the royalty rate on paperbacks from 60% to 50% for any book less than $9.99 (USD), which means authors are going to (very likely anyway) raise the prices to $10.00 and above to keep their royalties at 60%. This is due to production costs of paper print.

This won't affect Kindle e-books (for now.)

56 This is not a technical question but a technical lament. My son's cell phone dropped out of his pocket at work and some girl who works with him ran over it . They have to submit their work hours by phone. I am thinking that he should ask to use her phone to do that. It would be a good opportunity to talk to her.

Check out Brian Setzer's post Stray Cats work. He spent his time touring/recording with a crack big band and a killer rock-a-billy trio/quartet. His live shows featured both. Sadly he seems to have been forced into retirement because neurological problems with his hands.

Despite the hammering I took yesterday mowing the back acreage, I took a couple of Tylenol before going to bed and had a good night's sleep for once.

I rarely have trouble falling asleep, which I do within a minute or so, it's staying asleep. I wake up an inordinate number of times during the night and around 4:30 I just can't get back to sleep, so I pack it in and get up. Besides, the early morning hours are my favorites.

whether I want/need to or not, I bought myself a nice KitchenAid stand mixer. Our favorite bread recipe requires 20 minutes of kneading, which is hard on the old wrists.
It's lovely, but it's so sturdy and heavy that I can't pick it up easily, so it must live on the counter.

Over the years they made it clear they don't want to write policies in my state by raising prices to confiscatory levels. The increases over the last year is where they really stuck it their customers. I switched to a new carrier this year and between auto and home for identical coverage with equal customer service I am paying $1000.00 less per year. Toss in my motorcycle coverage at a different company this becomes $1200.00 Yowsers.

I actually did some research last night to find out what that dance was all about.

It’s a warrior dance in the Gulf States called the Yowlah or Al-Ayayya (sic?)

It was usually done to celebrate weddings, ceremonies, or war victories.

Which is why the men are displaying thin bamboo sticks, to represent swords or spears.

It’s accompanied by drums, cymbals, etc. for music. And the women are dressed in traditional dresses doing their hair twirling.

It’s apparently a big thing over there as they even have an American Idol type contest for different groups of dancers to see who the best is.

I believe this is probably the only place some of these women can let their hair down in public like this. Although in some Muslim nations it’s perfectly fine for younger, unmarried, girls to show their hair and not wear a veil.

A reporter caught Trump’s three word response to the dance while talking to the host Sheik: “I love it!”

We have a guitar and a flute and a trombone. But we are tee-tiny and are okay with it for now.
There's a TLM in Waco, but the timing- very late afternoon- makes it a driving problem.
