Posted by: kallisto Temperamentally unsuited. Turley is a good guy but has been a law prof for almost all of his life. Not running a DC prosecuting attorney's office. Martin as a defense attorney knew the system but was not able to get enough support on Capitol Hill. So we get Pirro, Pirro knows the media game, will be tougher for the Thom Tillis types to attack without losing some blood, and is as loyal to Trump as Martin was. Martin being moved to a DoJ office not requiring confirmation may yet be a major PITA to those GOPe assholes still trying to hold up the Jan 6 narrative as true. Kash has been a total disappointment Posted by: Gonzotx ======== It usually takes at least 30-60 days for grand jury to be presented with evidence and witnesses assuming that the FBI investigations are enough to generate probable cause. It can and often does take months of investigations by FBI agents to get the evidence to present to prosecutors. For better or worse, even Biden and Garland with a complicit Wray spent months to build cases of teh Jan 6ers and these poor folks were friendless and did not have the money to get deep pocket defense attorneys. In the cases of embezzlers, corrupt conspiracies, and bribery, it takes quite a while to build cases. Criminal conspiracy and RICO applications are as complex as Mob cases were back in the 80's which took a long time. So, the easiest route is to get to the lower traffickers to get to the bigger ones and using DOGE to build cases. Posted by: whig at May 09, 2025 12:20 PM (ctrM5) 42

The story (a large part of it) of America's precipitous decline. Trapped in a two-party system where on many key issues there is little (effective) difference between the two. Dem voters (and fraudsters, and illegals, and the deceased) get to vote for what they want, and get it*. GOP voters? For various reasons - crucially including indolence and refusal to vote with purpose in primaries - often little choice in the end. * I can't think of a Dem voter I know, and that's a zillion, who have the slightest idea what they are actually voting for, in most cases. One result of there being no press, and a collapsed civic culture. Posted by: rhomboid at May 09, 2025 12:23 PM (1m82a) 58

It wasn't what happened on J6 that frightened and upset them. It was what it represented. Again, these people know that what they are doing is wrong and would enrage people, if they knew what was going on and understood it. He's only been in office for 60 days.
What did you expect to have done by now. In the military of ancient Rome, decimation (from Latin decimatio 'destruction of a tenth'[1]) was a form of military discipline in which every tenth man in a group was executed by members of his cohort. The discipline was used by senior commanders in the Roman army to punish units or large groups guilty of capital offences, such as cowardice, mutiny, desertion, and insubordination, and for pacification of rebellious legions. One arrest. Of anyone. For anything. Just one.
Lord knows there's thousands. Posted by: rickb223 ====== They have started arresting people for vote fraud, human trafficking, etc. Plus the FBI has been forced to involve themselves in deportations by Trump's order. As someone who has taught criminal procedure for decades, you have a warped idea of how fast the justice system works and why it is slow. It is never good practice to arrest someone and then build a case because you have to have probable cause BEFORE you arrest them. Otherwise a well connected guy's lawyers will eat the prosecutor for lunch in a court hearing and the prosecutors will promptly do a fire and brimstone dance on the investigating leos. The DC guys you want are essentially mobbed up members of Big Dem and Big GOPe gangs and to win against them, it takes something like the mob RICO investigations in the 70's and 80's. --- Contrast Trump driving the Democrats further and further left to Rove's "lesser of two evils." That was engineered to ensure perpetual party power parity, which increases bureaucratic rule. And, as we are discovering, the GOPe has engaged in just as much vote fraud as the Dems, just at the primary level to ensure conservatives don't win. Trump's plan is killing their carefully plotted course. Yes he has had some big misses in his primary picks. --- That she worked for Fox News (gasp!) is like displaying a Holy Cross to a vampire. Just her presence is going to drive several out. See also all the scum-sucking shitbags at civil rights that have quit. Her biggest job is a deep-dive into the background of those that stay. The knives are already out for her - she prosecuted and won a case (1999?) where a "don't park here" confrontation escalated to an off-duty (white) cop pumping three bullets into a black citizen, killing him. Critics are describing it as railroading a cop just defending his dad.
The victim was picking up a pizza he'd ordered across the street from an Italian deli that had the only parking spot he could find. The cop was helping out his dad and brother at the busy deli his dad owned - when the black dude didn't unpark the three of them attacked him and knocked him to the ground - when he retreated to his car the two sons returned to the deli but the dad followed him where upon the guy pulled a baseball bat from his car and hit the dad twice - the cop son then ran back out and shot him. The cop was sentenced to 20 to life - a decade later the sentence was reversed and he was released - but then another court reversed the reversal and he had to go back in. The TDS crew are reviving this (often confusing) case to portray Pirro as another Janet Reno who sent an innocent man to prison. Posted by: BobM at May 09, 2025 12:46 PM (Ndtjr) 175

Ian S. you are correct there is failure theater with the Dems as well (however bizarre it might seem politically, such as my friend Chris's crusade to get "Maryland Man" back in MD). But with the GOP it's sort of been a core component of almost everything they do. As their voters have no learning curve, it works - plus, the alternative. As I have long said, the worse the Dems become, the worse the GOP can become - because what's your alternative?

The thing I remember about Pirro was her take on George Floyd, which is what I based my own opinion on the matter from. It was very odd.
She was on FoxNews (her own show) and she proclaimed that it should be Murder One, and proceeded to go through all the evidence of exactly what happened. Those facts made it crystal clear to me that it wasn't murder at all, not even manslaughter. She didn't really seem to explain how it was murder, IIRC. So either she's an idiot, or she was forced to come to that conclusion by her bosses, and this was her way of getting the truth out. That, in turn, reminds me of a Tucker Carlson show, near the end, I think. It was 100% fluff, about loving life or something.
