Bernie Sanders on Using Expensive Private Jets -- Paid for by Billionaire Pals -- While "Fighting the Oligarchy:" "You Want Me to Wait in Line at United With 30,000 People?"

berniesandersfightingtheoligarchy.jpg

"No apologies," the Noted Oligarchy Fighter, and Crusader Against Carbon-Dioxide Producing Air Travel, snapped.

When Sanders asked, rhetorically, "When's the last time you saw Donald Trump at National Airport," Bret Baiet replied, "He's not 'fighting the oligarchy.'"

"You think I'm going to be sitting on a waiting line," Caesar Flickerman -- excuse me, Bernie Sanders -- asks, "at United, while 30,000 people are waiting?" Sanders appeared on Fox News to answer questions about his Fight The Oligarchy tour, and Bret Baier honed in on the $220K-plus that Sanders has spent on private jet travel.

Sanders appeared to flounder, even though he knew the question had to be coming. "When was the last time you saw Trump at National Airport during a campaign?" Sanders asked, prompting Baier to quip, "Trump isn't fighting the oligarchy." Trump also owns his own plane, bought with his own funds, although his campaigns pay for the operating costs, of course.

Here's the absurd argument in its entirety, coming from someone who never worked an honest day in his life before going into radical-left activism and politics. For an old socialist, Sanders really gets defensive when questioned about his luxurious lifestyle.

68 The general consensus is that Maine is a little weird and the inhabitants a bit strange. HOWEVER, I always felt that way about Vermont. It's hard to classify the general population in that State. Some of it is so hypocritically liberal that they ended up housing businesses like "Ben and Jerry's".

Local municipalities in some areas around Burlington actually have a guy whose job is to travel around the area measuring the grass strands on front lawns. If the grass is a fraction too long, the municipality will fine the homeowner. I thought they were making this up until I saw it happening.

I never really understood how Vermont and NH could be so different. Not so much now. But, there was a time when it was a significant dichonomy.

I never really understood how Vermont and NH could be so different. Not so much now. But, there was a time when it was a significant dichonomy.
Posted by: Orson at May 08, 2025 03:05 PM (dIske)

Vermont and New Hampshire were not very different a few generations ago.

A bunch of NY hippies moved up there to flip the state blue in the 1960's, including the Ben & Jerry's guys and Bernie.

The population of VT is 650,000. It wasn't hard to flip the state.

And those hippies built the culture around UVM and Burlington.

Anyways, most VTers and NHers who have been there a few generations are pretty similar people. Outdoors, woodsy types who smoke weed and don't like people telling them what to do and very much dislike the Massholes and New Yorkers who are always trying to fuck with their lifestyles.

Which transcends national R / D politics in a lot of ways.

Deep State, Sandy's first job was with AID. Also note all the former CIA agents running for office.

One thing I learned from the JFK papers is that you have Howard Hunt's name all over the place there including a meeting in 1972 with CIA reps discussing payment for expenses despite being 'retired'. Something similar for assets--they would pick up money here and there despite being little more than criminals like Stephen Halper.

A later meeting after Nixon resigned had Hunt sitting in a meeting discussing how his book was to be marketed.

Despite having the CIA review it and approve it, Howard wanted the CIA to hide that fact so he could get a bit more marketing wise--sort of an unauthorized inside story marketing ploy.

I think it is fair to say that there are no 'former' CIA agents as they simply ooze into the blob that is our ngo-Dept of State-private firm contractors arena. Now they are putting themselves into office.

Nasty IC critters.

John Paul II was an outlier.

And as for interest in who is chosen, consider the NFL draft or the Academy Awards. (Neither of which I care about in the slightest.)

Further consider interest in the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard brouhaha, or in the Princess Harry Megan Markle train wreck.

Just take ace's aspersions as attacks on Tucker specifically. It's pretty obvious that's what he's doing. Tucker annoys him, and he uses Tucker as some kind of proxy or cipher for a line of thinking he doesn't like.

Let it roll of your back.

If you feel the need to defend your own beliefs, start with, "I'm pretty sure ace is talking about Tucker, but for my part..."

Or don't, and get angry.

Any front man gains a reciprocal power. Look at Zelensky, Biden and the EU and UK propped him up for years as the hero of the Ukraine war and now he can drag them after him on certain matters and they have to decide to give him his way or topple him or kill him.

If one wants to get to more than one rally in a day, having a small charter jet permits this, logistically. It could make sense. However, I don't know whether Sanders had that kind of last-days-of-an-election campaign schedule, though, for the Marxist rallies. In any event, it's rather over-determined. He was a leader in the Solidarity movement that kicked the Communists out of Poland before he was pope (before he was even ordained, I think maybe possibly). As pope, he rallied the leaders of the west to stand up against the Soviets and stand up for dissident movements, leading to the collapse of Communist regimes all over and eventually the Soviet Union itself. As pope, he also wrote a whole bookcase full of encyclicals that really dug into the documents of Vatican II and made them more accessible to the laity. There's a lot in there that's incredibly pro life and pro human, although everyone only knows it for "No Latin" or whatever. I'm no expert in the history, but that's the broad-brush of it.

384 He was a leader in the Solidarity movement that kicked the Communists out of Poland before he was pope (before he was even ordained, I think maybe possibly).

He wrote Theology of the Body, a philosophical treatise on human sexuality that is less about shame and more in accordance with how God asks us to use the procreative and unitive gift.

HOWEVER, trade deals like the UK are going to increase the US industry/farming, and create an increase of tax revenue which might accommodate the budget increase and then some.

Then go home.

Being elected Pope inspired Poland to be even more resistant to the Soviet rule. One of the East Bloc secret police shot him for it. He survived. The strikes in Poland under Solidarity started the dominos falling in East Europe. The leader of those strikes credits the Pope for this. In the end the Soviet Union itself fell.

412 Non-interventionist doesn't mean non-retaliatory.

I think the Yemen strikes were a perfect example of retaliation.

I think the Ukraine imbroglio is a perfect example of intervention.

I think it depends on what the US actually does in response to the kashmir debacle whether or not it's one or the other.

Overwhelmingly disproportionate retaliation is probably always the right call. Intervention is probably usually the wrong call, but i don't think it should always be ruled out.
