Not a model for payments for AI services, but a model for payments using AI services.
- Speaking of, I'm pretty sure I had an AI chatbot in the human chat the other day. I initiated chat at noon and a warning popped up telling me they were extremely busy and it would be over 20 minutes until I could chat with anyone, and they could call me back if I'd like. I chose the "No, I'll wait" option and was IMMEDIATELY connected to chat. I mean immediately. From the moment I clicked "I'll wait" it went straight into "Rajid has entered the chat, Rajid is typing" It seemed even more conversationally off than Universal Rajid normally seems, and would use an ellipses here and there in bizarre places. It finally gave me an unmonitored email address to Amazon customer service (and IIRC the email address on the website says it's unmonitored) where I could contact customer service for more customer service. Yes, it could've been a human Rajid, but I really think they are putting chatbots in as humans now when they're backed up. The first ballot will be at 10:30 (09:30 BST), followed by another at 12:00 (11:00 BST).
The cardinals will have lunch, followed by two more votes at approximately 17:30 (16:30 BST) and 19:00 (18:00 BST). There isn't always smoke for each of the four votes ... On the first votes in the morning and afternoon, there's only white smoke if a new pope is chosen. Otherwise, there is just two lots of smoke - at the end of the morning, and end of the evening session. (BBC) Posted by: m at May 08, 2025 04:50 AM (CQE5S) 19

He was ... Churchill. Pretty much the same as every other Brit in high places before him. Worried about England first. Didn't mind doing shit like leasing 99 destroyers just to get the Americans interested in his war. Rattling the High Command to get the BEF off Dunkirk partly because 300K boys, but also because he knew if he lost them the UK was no longer a world power. The biggest reflection on Churchill was that the Brits loved him ... then got rid of him at the first opportunity. Same as FDR. Except Churchill could walk. We lost power for six hours yesterday following the explosive burst of thunderstorms around 9:15 a.m. Apparently there are people in town and in the 'burbs still without power. This reminds me that when I have my house, a gas generator for emergency power is going to be a necessity. Those whole-house generators I see advertised on TV sound great, but I have a feeling they cost as much as a small used car *used* to cost.
Plus I need a cooler or ice chest. If the outage had gone on for a long time, all the frozen foods would have melted and spoiled without ice. Europe has announced plans to spend $500 million over three years to make the continent a "magnet for scientists". $500 million over three years? Give the Euros one white chip. The stultifying nature of European academia with its "Herr Professor Doktor" hierarchy of faculty and bureaucracy for the sake of bureaucracy has historically driven scientists out of Europe to the US. I sense nothing will be done about those rice bowls. Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at May 08, 2025 06:19 AM (QnmlO) 100

It's been discussed here before, but the majority of men will remember compliments from attractive women they don't know for DECADES later because they're so rare.
Part of the reason I don't think women understand the compliment thing is because they receive them constantly and from all angles. For men I suspect the reason they're rare is because women-to-men mean something very, very specific socially/sexually. I don't think women refuse to compliment men because they're selfish or mean. I think most understand that there are social understandings that come along with those statements and unless you're related or have some knowledge or history with the person it's a signal similar to flirtatious touching or brushing against an arm. Sorta. Every once in a while a ship has a series of bad events. Morale drops as it becomes known as a bad luck ship. Takes good leadership to overcome that. An alternative answer is there are extraordinary demands placed on the ship, the crew, and the planes. Truman has been in combat for it's entire time in the Red Sea, This is a much longer time for the Navy than anything since Vietnam. It is even more intense because of the Houtsi attacks on the carrier and it's escorts. This would go back to WWII for similar action. Posted by: NaCly Dog at May 08, 2025 07:08 AM (u82oZ) 155
