Elon Musk Announces He'll Be "Scaling Back" His Work With DOGE as Democrat-Antifa Terrorism Crashes Tesla's Profits

Is that how we're doing it now?

lon Musk will significantly scale back his Trump administration work in May to focus on Tesla, the billionaire announced Tuesday as the electric vehicle maker reported a 71 percent drop in first-quarter profits.

"Probably in the next month, my time allocation to DOGE will drop significantly," Musk said at the outset of an earnings conference call, referring to his work for the "Department of Government Efficiency."

The comments came as Tesla reported profits of $409 million following a drop in auto sales that analysts said reflected brand damage due to Musk's work for President Donald Trump in slashing the US federal workforce.

Revenues fell nine percent to $19.3 billion.

The company retreated from its 2025 guidance, citing unpredictability over trade policy and demand.

"Uncertainty in the automotive and energy markets continues to increase as rapidly evolving trade policy adversely impacts the global supply chain and cost structure of Tesla and our peers," the company said.

"This dynamic, along with changing political sentiment, could have a meaningful impact on demand for our products in the near-term."

Literally zero left wing media corporations have condemned these terrorist attacks, therefore, they endorse the use of terrorism against a corporation as an expression of political disagreement.

We're pretty angry, media. You may regret being such major players in the terror game.

Hello, everyone.

10 The media is absolutely gleeful about it.

Even the normally not crazy liberal Wall Street Journal loves to run article after article about how musk is getting hurt.

I will forever be thankful for all the fraud musk exposed, but there’s no doubt the man will have a target on his back forever.

14 While the attack on Tesla by unhinged leftists is undoubtedly playing a big role in their reduced profit, Tesla is not immune to the general and growing disenchantment with EVs. They were going to suffer eventually, but it's better to have less business than go out of business entirely, as so many of them have.

16 The stock price of Tesla has still done insanely well over the last few years

I think musk‘s big problem though is it was mostly California liberals that bought Tesla cars, so if that crew boycotts you it’s going to make a dent in sales.

32 IIRC, Musk's tenure as a "special government employee" could only be for so long... 120 days I believe. The media is framing it as a bow to the terror attacks on Tesla dealerships and owners, but that's probably only a small part of Musk's reasoning to return to the private sector.

I'll bet he returns to Federal service before the end of Trump's term for more fun and games.

40 As a Special Government Employee (SGE), Musk was always on a time clock for contributing his services to DC. By statute, he could only work for 130 days in a 365-day calendar year.

He was leaving in May no matter what. He can, of course come back later to make sure that DOGE is working just fine, but he was never going to leave his business for more than a few months. In light of the media rumor mill spewing disinformation back in February about Trump and Musk not getting along, it's funny that you don't hear about that anymore.

Posted by: Darrell Harris at April 24, 2025 12:28 PM (5v+S7)

41 Hard to say how much of that Tesla drop was from "terrorism", and how much was from likely drops in government handouts for EVs.

Trump is loud and proud about increasing energy production, including oil and coal. Not sure if he has mentioned nuclear. But maybe if it is leftists (mostly) buying Teslas, it is possible fewer would buy from Elon as head of Doge ... though how can "reasonable leftists" object to the billions of fraud and waste being rooted out?

42 Hello, Ace!

43 My understanding is the plan was scheduled for the first 100 days of Trump's term. Scaling back his involvement with DOGE was planned -- there are those in place who will continue the good work, as there is so much more to do in this massive audit. The left knew Elon's 100-day commitment, so they ramped up the protests and the vandalism and terrorism to create the optics that they scared Elon away from DC. Those on the who watch legacy media believe the left have another scalp.

47 Ran into a guy last night (probably about 35) while grabbing a coffee. He was parked out front in what appeared to be a 2024 Corvette. Pretty car if you like that sort of thing. On both sides of this white Vette were stenciled letters spelling out:

"Fire Musk!"

So, I had to ask him. "Nice car. Why did you ruin it with the lettering?" I'm not stupid. I knew someone that invested in such nonsense would start spouting the usual idiocy. But, instead he took a deep breath and stared down at the ground before looking up and shrugging. "It's my wife's car. I'm just filling up the tank for her." I couldn't help but laugh. Then he said. "I only offer at night because I'm hoping no one sees it."

I wished him well.

Mercedes is slowing production of their US-produced vehicles. "Just make it in America and you don't get tariff'd" was the biggest joke of this whole cockup.

Yep. Elon's the biggest carbon credit grifter on the planet.

The other manufacturers literally have to pay Tesla when they sell an ICE car just because of the complete bullsh*t "Carbon Credit" scheme.

Loved what Elon did with DOGE. I'll forever hate loathe and despise him for the seemingly irreparable damage he's done to the automotive industry. The fact that literally every car on the market, down to the "cheapest" $25k commuter car has a f*cking tablet mounted on its dash is his f*cking fault.

The Nova exhibition shared a post inviting Kneecap to see their exhibit, one that honours the innocent victims of a brutal massacre, among them an Irish-Israeli girl. Irish people online have, to the tune of thousands, sneered at this invitation. They are collectively mocking this initiative that seeks to humanise murdered civilians.

What does it say when Irish society celebrates a music group that wrote ‘solidarity with the Palestinian struggle’ as the bodies of the October 7th victims were still being counted, yet expresses utter contempt for an exhibition that attempts to give these victims dignity?

What does it say when Irish society pontificates that this group is ‘on the right side of history’ as they praise a neo-Nazi, all while viciously targeting a woman for calling this out?

It is time for the ‘silent majority’ to speak up. Because, as it stands, you are complicit in this hatred and extremism continuing to take hold here.

Court held, "Audio and audiovisual recordings are medias of expression commonly used for the preservation and dissemination of information and ideas and thus are included within the free speech and free press guarantees of the first and fourteenth amendments. American Civil Liberties Union v. Alvarez, 679 F.3d 583, 595 (7th Cir. 2012). The act of making such a recording is necessarily included in the first amendment’s guarantee of speech and press rights as a corollary of the right to disseminate the resulting recording. Id. “[T]he eavesdropping statute operates at the front end of the speech process by restricting the use of a common, indeed ubiquitous, instrument of communication. Restricting the use of an audio or audiovisual recording device suppresses speech just as effectively as restricting the dissemination of the resulting recording."

I will win all 538 Electoral Votes.

ICE vehicles have largely fixed the issue of gasoline fires with smart design, even during bad accidents. There was a time when cars were basically wheeled napalm canisters. Can't get every possible gas fire, of course, especially when the driver is a fucking idiot. *koff koff Paul Walker's friend driving the Porsche koff koff*

But a lot of people in the past were barbecued in moderate accidents that would otherwise have them walking away with nothing more than a sore neck, before the car companies figured out how to redesign the fuel systems to be relatively safe.

The right has its own problem with purity spirals that the left does. The urge to disqualify as unpure and to push people out of the tent is universal in politics.

Historical accounts of the Salem Witch trials are useful in that regard as an illustration.

That was also true in the history of the Massachusetts Bay Colony where even a stalwart like John Winthrop gets flak from his Puritan brethren because he pragmatically limited some of their purity spirals.

Pool temp was 82 degrees, outdoor temp 78. But the Y keeps this pool heated and open year round except when the temps fall under 32 degrees or it's storming. And people actually swim. Me, I'm done the first week in November and yesterday was the first time in 2025. But in MA, July 1 to mid August is about it.

235 216 Why are doomed to failure at the DOJ?

Why is Trump's agenda able to be shut down by judicial activism and judge shopping?

They knew this was likely to happen cause it happened last time.

Unless the tides turn in the SC, Trumps agenda is both DOA and being reversed.

Every ruling seems to be shutting him down and forcing the WH to reverse course.

And with a liberal majority in the SC, this isn't going to change, is it?

Trump is actually sandbagging the courts and makes it more likely to win in the court of public opinion. He is using a broad front strategy to attack the Deep State and in the end, just like the courts tried to resist FDR, they are going to get rolled because they are losing public support with every 20-80 decision they make.

It is a political war as much as a legal fight and to win you gotta have public support for what you are doing when you cross the Rubicon.

Essentially putting the judiciary under siege and he is making the judges do some really stupid and partisan shit now just like the dunce judge ruling that the mayor of NYC cannot 'help' ICE. It is going to fail hard because it is unenforceable and make the mayor a 'hero'

Judiciary, as the strutting peacocks that many trial judges are, has never learned what political branches have--you can make all the laws or rulings you want but in the end, if you ain't got the real power to enforce it, you got nuttin.

At the end of the day, even wiser Supreme Court justices in the past have recognized that their rulings must be able to persuade multiple audiences that their rulings are correct. Otherwise, they will be ignored.

See Gerald Rosenberg's Hollow Hope book about judicial orders during the segregation era. In the end, Congress ended segregation by denying school funds to segregated school systems that ended it, not court orders.

Back in the 70's in Beirut, the same terrorist organization (I forget which one--the PLO maybe?) that had tortured and murdered the US CIA section chief also kidnapped a member of the Soviet consulate and (probable) KGB operative. The Russians responded by finding, torturing, and killing in the most horrible ways imaginable everyone even remotely involved, as well as their immediate family members, with promises to find and murder the rest of their families down to the most distant cousin if their guy wasn't returned. The 'diplomat' was returned alive and unharmed.

I'm not advocating torture and murder. We're not Beirut 1973. I am advocating a tit-for-tat, take no prisoners response. You as a corporate entity or political figure tacitly support attacking Tesla? We all know the truth but the public perception is that Trump is just hot air. Came out fast and hard and has punched himself out in the first round.

Now the court is landing body blows and the ref is staring at the ring girl.

302 Indiana judge lets murder suspect walk because of "staffing crisis" at prosecutor's office

An Indiana judge dismissed a murder trial because of a 'staffing crisis' at the prosecutor's office - as the victim's family still waits for justice 20 years after the killing.

Kevin Maddox, accused of fatally shooting 20-year-old Chad Rouse during a 2006 botched robbery, was released from jail after Howard County Superior Court Judge William Menges abruptly dismissed the case Tuesday just as it was set to kick off.

Menges' order cited the Howard County Prosecutor's office's hectic trial schedule, 'staffing crisis' and the fact it was 'overburdened with pretrial motions on the eve of trial.'

What about all of the NGOs grifting off USAID? Hey, they just took the money, they didn’t create USAID.

Pfizer never mandated clotshots, that was the Federal government. They just massively profited from selling a government-mandated, taxpayer-subsidized product.

1. I don't believe that Musk was involved in setting up the system. Cap-and-trade was first proposed between 1967 and 1970, before Musk was even born. The Democrats were agitating for it since the late 1990s.
2. What he's doing isn't "collecting welfare checks" of "selling $200 hammers to the Pentagon". He's providing an opportunity for other car makers to produce profitable, gasoline powered vehicles while keeping the government off their backs. No doubt the politicians expected their cousins so et up some scam business to grab the money ala Al Gore's tree farms.

I'd say more but I've hit the Pixy limit. It's a bad system but it isn't Musk's fault.

Yep. Bondi is the public face of the DoJ apparently while her assistant chief is apparently running the place. The solicitor general's office is running the Scotus matters. Lots of lefty career attorneys have left and SG Sauer was the one that successfully argued the presidential immunity case last year. Now appointed a strong deputy who was also a Scalia clerk.

Civil Rights Division has been depleted of its leftists by Harmeet Dhillon (chief of the CRD now) as Bondi, etc. are defumigating decades of sabotaging leftist attorneys in the DoJ. Law specific news like Above the Law are full of how awful losing these 'career' attorneys is.

Every ruling seems to be shutting him down and forcing the WH to reverse course.

And with a liberal majority in the SC, this isn't going to change, is it?

What you see in the news is NOT what is happening in the courts. When I taught, legal reporting that students read out of class had to be almost constantly corrected in class from the egregious errors that media has in stories. Essentially, legal reporting is on par with the Nation's or Rolling Stone's reports on economic mattters.

Read the actual orders and briefs in these cases. In most cases, these are TROs by design because it is very difficult to appeal them. But, 14 days, they expire and then the more difficult task for activist judges happens--they have to find facts on the record to substantiate their ruling on a preliminary injunction. That standard is irreparable harm shown by plaintiff facts provided, they are formally ruled by the court to be likely to prevail which means that the court must have a full adversarial hearing with both sides providing evidence.

In addition, the Trump administration is requiring plaintiffs now to provide bond (see Rule 65(a) for their TROs and preliminary injunctions.
