Supreme Court Appears Ready to Rule that the Montgomery County School System Violated Religious Rights by Making Gay Propaganda Books Available for Children In Their Libraries, and Bizarrely, Refusing a Simple Opt-Out for Children of Concerned Parents

The opt-out would just consist of a librarian checking to see if the student is approved by parental consent to check out the book.

Also, when teachers would bring these gay storybooks into the classrooms and indoctrinate children into Gay Studies, parents wanted an opt-out for those classes as well.

But the school board refused.

But you may have noticed -- librarians are now almost all extremist radical lesbians who are determined to allow children to watch porn on library computers and fill their libraries with actual gay porn how-to books.

And teachers are 80% hard left as well.

Even Elena Kagan could not understand why the school system would allow opt-outs for lots of different sensitive topics, but is choosing to dig its heels in for full-on gay sexual grooming of children.

Wait a tick, I think I just figured it out.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday appeared likely to rule for parents in Maryland who objected on religious grounds to books made available in a school district's elementary schools that feature stories about gay and transgender characters.

Members of the 6-3 conservative majority, which often backs religious rights, seemed sympathetic during the lively 2½-hour oral argument toward the parents' claims that the Montgomery County Board of Education violated their religious rights by failing to provide an opt-out for their children.

Some justices indicated that the board's refusal to provide an opt-out might have been motivated by hostility toward religion. A ruling is due by the end of June.

At issue are books included in the English language arts curriculum in Montgomery County. The dispute arose in 2022 after the school board in the large and diverse jurisdiction just outside Washington decided it wanted more storybooks reflecting LGBTQ stories to better reflect the people who live there.

...

One book, "Uncle Bobby's Wedding," features a gay character who is getting married. Another, called "Born Ready," is about a transgender child who wants to identify as a boy.

Some parents, including Muslims and Orthodox Christians, objected on religious grounds under the Constitution's First Amendment, saying their children should be able to opt out of any exposure to the content.

Conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch was one of several justices who raised comments made by a former member of the school board, Lynne Harris.

She had suggested in a media interview cited in court papers that a student who objected to the books was "parroting dogma" passed on by her parents and compared their complaints to those of white supremacists who opposed civil rights laws.

"Does that suggest a hostility toward religion?" Gorsuch asked, citing a 2018 ruling in which the court ruled for a Christian baker who refused to serve a gay couple on the grounds that a state civil rights commission had shown anti-religious animus.

Other conservative justices expressed disbelief that the school board found it too difficult to provide an opt-out.

"Why isn't that feasible?" Justice Samuel Alito asked.

"I'm not understanding why it's not feasible," Justice Brett Kavanaugh added.

Chief Justice John Roberts seemed skeptical of the school board's argument that the policy did not require the children to affirm or support the content of the books.

"Is that a realistic concept when you are talking about a 5-year-old?" he asked.

The DEI Justice -- I'm sorry, that's not specific enough; one of the three DEI Justices (does Amy Coney Barrett also count?) -- Ketanji Brown Jackson declared that any parent who doesn't want their kids flooded with gay porn can just put their kids in a private school.

Note that the government forcibly extracts tax money from parents to pay for school, and refuses to give them vouchers to send their kids to private school. So she's saying the state can violate your religious rights and make the schools you are forced at gunpoint to pay for completely unusable by you, but that's okay, because you can just take the double-penalty of paying for a school you don't use and spending $25,000 per year on a private school, Bigots.

Fellow liberal Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson also appeared skeptical, noting that parents have other options if they do not like what their children are taught in school.

"If the school teaches something that the parent disagrees with, you have a choice. You don't have to send your kid to that school," she said.

...

The lead plaintiffs are Tamer Mahmoud and Enas Barakat -- a Muslim couple who have a son in elementary school. Other plaintiffs are members of the Catholic and Ukrainian Orthodox churches.

They are not challenging the curriculum itself, just the lack of an opt-out.

A federal judge and the Richmond, Virginia-based 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals both ruled in favor of the school board.

...

The parents, represented by the religious liberties group Becket, say that under Supreme Court precedent, they have a right to opt out of any instruction that would interfere with their children's religious development.

The school board is "compelling instruction designed to indoctrinate petitioners' children against their religious beliefs," the parents' lawyers wrote.

The parents have the backing of the Trump administration.

Gorsuch wanted to know about a book made available to three-year-old pre-schoolers. There were drawings of a drag queen dressed in leather, and kids were instructed to Find the Leather-Daddy Drag-Queen in the books as if he was Waldo.

The lawyer for the school board insisted that this wasn't sexual and the all-leather get-up wasn't bondage gear.

A drag queen danced in protest:

Isn't that wholesome and Normal.

Here's how smug authoritarian cunt Nina Totenberg "reports" the case for NPR:

The U.S. Supreme Court jumps back into the culture wars Tuesday, as the justices tackle a clash between two bedrock values in American public schools: On one side is the longstanding tradition of local school boards determining class curriculum for everyone. On the other side is the notion that public schools should accommodate religious objections to some materials by allowing parents to opt their kids out of some classes.

At the center of Tuesday's case is the school system in Montgomery County, Md., the most religiously diverse county in the United States, with 160,000 students of almost all faiths. The school board approved five storybooks with LGBTQ+ characters for use in elementary school classes. The avowed purpose was to teach students tolerance and respect for LGBTQ+ students and parents. But some parents objected, contending that exposure to the approved materials conflicted with their religious beliefs.

Grace Morrison is one of the parents suing the school board. Her daughter, who has Down syndrome, was in a special-needs general curriculum class, when the school board decided to include books that talk about LGBTQ+ children and parents. Her daughter was, by then, 10 years old, and Morrison was concerned that her child would be confused by the books.

"They are in conflict with our faith. And I also think that's too heavy for our daughter," she said in an interview with NPR. "These are topics that I'm just not ready to start on down the road with her."

While the school board initially allowed parents to opt their kids out of regular classes with some LGBTQ+ content, the board eventually found that it was both too difficult and too disruptive to accommodate the number of opt-out requests.

"Too many people asserted their religious rights so it became too burdensome to grant them."

If so many people want to opt-out, maybe the list of opt-ins would be smaller and more easy to manage...?

That's what's really going on here: A majority of parents object to Gay Training Classes and want to opt-out. The school might give in if it were just a few Bigot-Children here and there, but this is the majority of parents objecting to this material.

Therefore, they must be crushed. There will be no dissent from Gay Indoctrination. Certainly not so close to Pride Month!

In the Supreme Court on Tuesday, the school board's lawyer will tell the justices that it's relatively easy to have opt-outs for a single class, like health and sex education, a course that allows opt-outs. But it is a logistical nightmare to take children out of a classroom when a single story book that features same-sex parents or gay and lesbian kids could come up at any time. Among the logistical questions are where to put the opt-out kids and for how long? And how would the schools then meet the needs for alternative lesson plans?

How about you just have special Gay Training classes for the students of leftwing nutbag parents who want them, and keep the topic out of other normal classes?

7 On one side is the longstanding tradition of local school boards determining class curriculum for everyone. On the other side is the notion that public schools should accommodate religious objections to some materials by allowing parents to opt their kids out of some classes.

There's a reason for that longstanding tradition: in the past, school boards would never have been lunatic enough to push sexually explicit gay training materials to little children. If they had, they'd have met Mr. Auto-da-Fe.

The City of Berkeley's municipal library basically ceased being used, even by leftists or students, over a similar policy:

The library had several desktops computers which patrons (or anybody, really) could "check out" and use for an hour for free.

So street bums would come into the library and use its computers to WATCH CHILD PORN on them, while fondling thmselves in their stinky pants.

When even far-left parents and women complained about this to the library, the issue went up to the bpard of directors who ruled IN THE BUMS' FAVOR, allowing them to watch child porn on the library's computer, because to "deny them internet access" wuold be discriminatory. They also passed a rule that the librarians were FORBIDDEN from cooperating with the FBI, if the FBI ever came around to investigate the child porn access.

Well, that was the last straw. Regular people just stopped using the library altogether rather than be around or have their kids be around these masturbating child-molesting bums.

He ended up doing a youth military academy program up here run by the National Guard, and got his GED. It isn't that he is stupid, he just cannot achieve without constant motivation, and those ex-sergeants know a thing or two about motivation. Really fabulous program. Saved a lot of kids from disaster.

152 Just to be clear, you can not object to just anything and call it religious, but if an exemption is ever allowed for religious reasons, it has to apply to anyone who wishes to claim it on the basis of conscience.

This prevents the state from determining which religions are legit, and which people are legit religious.

There is some complications over the use of psychedelic mushrooms by native tribes where you have to be a legit tribe member, etc. but that is the exception to this.

The letters had to be signed by a parent and returned to the school. For the kids whose parents didn't want them to have this instruction, they were sent to the school cafeteria where they were to work on their schoolwork with a teacher's aide monitoring the kids until they could return to class. Easy peasy and no hand wringing. Of course, we all missed out on being educated on gay rough sex and and the joys of bondage but somehow we survived.

201 Pray The Gay Away.

Two parts to this,

1) For some people this will work - if you don't think of gay sex as just a normal fun thing plenty of people won't engage in it. Animal fighting, for example, was once good wholesome fun and now most people think you are a horrible person if you like it...

2) Homosexuality mostly comes from childhood sexual trauma. In the case of male homosexuality if you can stop gay men from molesting boys there will be far fewer young men "questioning their sexuality" so everything you can do to make male homosexuality more closeted will help young men.

Technically it's not porn. Or at least, that's how they sell it.

It is a VERY thin line between "informational" books that depict child sexual behavior and creating and distributing child pornography though.

The only bewbs in my elementary school library were in old national geographics magazines, and they were attached to African ladies holding babies.

Someone in my class found them, and the librarian had to come scold us when she found like 10 of us crowded around the magazine.

Homeschooling was always popular up here, particularly since a lot of small places don't have much infrastructure for schools in the first place. Now that I'm out of Anchorage, I would say it's about half and half. The public schools in the valley are pretty darned good, but there remain a few half-wit administrators that can make it tricky. Luckily up here, people are not very good at being silent in the face of malarky, and most everyone is armed, soo..

The high school hockey team has a gun show to raise funds, and they have the show in the high school gym. Signs on the door say "no guns allowed," and then there is a whole gym full of them. Huh. Go figure.

So she is okay with parents being forced under color of law to pay taxes to provide children with a "free" education, but they have to pay extra to have their kids not be exposed to state-mandated pornography?

Sometimes it's for cases that shouldn't have gone up to the Supreme Court in the first place but sometimes it's because they just don't want to deal with the headache. In those cases they should just suck it up and deal, that's why they got the job and lifetime tenure.

Apparently muslims and orthodox jews could claim exemptions because they have decentralized leadership, but because someone on high in the Catholic church said "vaccines are fine by me," it would be nearly impossible for me to get the exemption.

Which is like... why am I lying here? This isn't about religion, I just don't want to get the vaccination. Why can't I get an exemption on "fuck that" grounds? Why do I have to pretend to be all pious and not eating meat on Fridays and shit?

They simply aren't ready to process that kind of stuff in a healthy way. The district is willfully endangering *all* the children, not just the ones whose parents aren't dipshit perverts, when they have a clear duty to stand as their protectors while forcing them into their custody for a good chunk of if not most of their waking hours in a week.

It's no different from a hungover substitute throwing on an episode of the Trailer Park Boys for a bunch of third graders and the district saying "well we can't just have you opting out, that's the curriculum." It doesn't matter who likes it or doesn't like it, it has no place in a public school setting.

It may very well be TRUE that their argument will lead to dogs and cats living together, but that doesn't mean their argument is its self false. Applying rhetorical standards outside a debate is typically problematic at best.

Intellectual reason concerning the universe does not make one part of a "gang."

Yeah, I can see that.

What are all these perverts doing in elementary schools? Access. Pure and simple.

And they thought fag Priests were a big problem.

How many kids have been cornholed in public schools? Where's the John Jay report on that?

287 Intellectually you are right, tcn.
I was making a political point. Nothing gets done without a cadre of likeminded and organized people. One schmuck on his own saying "this rainbow flag is gay" will get shut down.
Catholicism has an organization and the organization (historically) has held the line on degeneracy. Not because they were right (although they usually were) but because they could get crews out to the streets and to the polls.

288 274 We need a plan to get rid of these woke librarians
Posted by: vmom deport deport deport at April 23, 2025 05:18 PM (XkKkf)

Good luck on that one.

I was at a party of librarians around Christmas Holiday Season.

It was the biggest gathering of weirdos this side of a Comic Con convention. Midget men, fat ladies in cat hair covered sweaters, people of questionable gender. It looked like a meeting of reddit moderators.

For whatever reason, it seems the people who get a masters degree in library studies (or whatever it's called) are all weirdos.

(Granted, that was a small sample size. And the host, who is a friend of a friend, is also weird. So maybe she is only friends with the weird librarians. But anyways, it was like the Star Wars Cantina scene in there.)

And now, for a full picture, let us compare the average day's minor injuries for police officers in the DC area. Make it a day with a political rally or protest just to give similar stats.

294 To the fuckstains running the schools...
If you have that many people choosing to opt out, perhaps you should reconsider insisting that this material is necessary in the first place. Oh I know, you want it to be necessary. You want it to be mandatory. Just because you love the homo and hate religion and run the schools, you believe you have the right to force this stuff on children. It makes you feel powerful, doesn't it? You get a thrill from it, don't you?
Fun fact!
Most parents believe that any adult talking about sexual content with a child to whom they are not related is wrong and creepy. They tend to think that person is a predator and targeting those children.
Do not be surprised when a pissed off parent puts a permanent stop to the predators.
Sleep sweet!

It was perhaps a less than charitable way of describing politically the difference between being a lone wolf and being part of a group. Groups tend to have more pull and political clout than individuals.

Every community suffering under this shit, throw everything you got, every dollar, every free minute, at getting yourself or someone likeminded on to the school board.

I agree, the pressure has to be unrelenting and mind shattering for these boards. They were getting that done back when the unions begged the Biden administration to save them from enraged parents. I think the heat has backed off. It ought not. I'd be in there but I have no kids in school and have no idea what's IN the schools in my area.

315 Afternoon, folken,

I'm trying to relax after an hour on the phone with a certain credit card company -- initials C.O. -- who somehow no longer has my current cell number for use on the website, even though I've used that number for a couple of years now to log into the website. They insist that my old cell number is the true number, that I have never updated it to the new one, and that the website has *never* asked me to verify when I logged in for the last two years. Patently absurd. The only difference is the computer and IP address I am using now (home) as opposed to a month ago (work). Yet they can only parrot their "verification" process -- which involves me sending a pic of my driver's license to them.

Crap. I don't need the website to keep up with my charges. And I will use their card as little as possible from now on.
