AMD's 16 core Zen 5c dies have a single shared L3 cache. (Tom's Hardware)

These are used in the largest Epyc server CPUs, with up to 192 cores in total.

This is not a huge deal for Epyc CPUs because you still have twelve CPU dies each with its own cache. But it is potentially a big deal for desktop CPUs, because the moment you go off-die - even over AMD's high-speed Infinity Fabric that links these chiplets together - you slow down a lot.

And the fact that AMD is already shipping unified 16 core dies makes rumours that Zen 6 will be a unified 12 core die a lot more believable.

Lenovo's Legion Tab Gen 4 has a TF slot - functionally the same as microSD. (Notebook Check)

Of course it does, because I got the shipping notification for my Legion Tab Gen 3 only two hours ago, and the Gen 3 does not have a microSD slot.

But it took close to a year for the Gen 3 to become available in Australia, and it was on sale, and it includes 256GB of storage so I'm not likely to run out quickly.

Speaking of only gigabit Ethernet, those super-cheap Wavlink USB docks with HDMI and 2.5Gb Ethernet seem to have gone. They got down to less than $10 before disappearing entirely.

I did buy five of them, so I'm okay on that front.

Speaking of them, this week we're going to flea bomb my place -- take the cats out in their carrier's to Linda's, set off the poison bombs, let the place air out and clean up before bringing them back. The flea treatment I used on them, Pet Armor, has done almost nothing for them. If the bombing doesn't help, they'll have to get a stronger product. There's a pill that is $$$, but lasts three months.

20 It rained pretty solidly here yesterday -- a sprinkle in the morning, and then around 1:00 the heavens opened. Four inches' rain at the airport and about the same in other areas, right at rush hour. I am so glad I wasn't in it and didn't have to worry about which side of the avenue my car was parked on.

We may get more today and Wednesday, mostly in the afternoon. I plan to run all my errands on Wed. morning and be home before it gets bad.

23 Oh, yeah. The actual Earf Day is today. The clearance/charity sale Linda dragged me to on Saturday was just the weekend sale, not the actual day.

The Earf Day business started when I was in high school. Can't say I remember anything about it at the time. I was much more concerned with my grades in Spanish, English, and chemistry, and looking forward to blessed summer vacation about a month in the future.

Wolfus, I second this….. it worked well for me. A caution: don’t use a bagless vacuum to sweep it up. I ruined a Dyson by doing that. I highly recommend using a sweeper that uses a bag. The stuff is fine enough that it gets through small screens and gunks up the works.

One of the platoon sergeants drove it, I guess he couldn’t in good conscience make anybody else perform this task. Standup guy.

Thank you. You and others have been very helpful. With the support of the horde, I am returning to work today. I will take kids from loving homes to a hostile environment that they would want to skip. However, only 5 weeks f school left.

My school system offers 5 days of bereavement leave. I will work mornings (which is the absolute hardest time to get a replacement) and continue to do all the myriad of stuff that needs doing in the afternoon.

76 My memory is hazy, but iirc Austria wouldn’t let us fly through their airspace to Kosovo. Had to take the long way. France was cool, somebody brought out stinky cheese pizza on the flight line that was quite good. We flew over all the insanely wealthy near Monaco and saw how the better halves live on their super yachts. It was then I realized I just wasn’t doin’ it right.

The bombs were done twice in a month, and the difference was dramatic. I also treated the cats I had then with a good topical -- that Walmart PetArmor is almost useless, I've found.

Little Dagny has had the fleas a bit worse than Stirling has, and I think it's made her withdraw from us because she felt poorly. (Either that, or she needs a dose of kitty Zoloft for depression.) The PetArmor has helped a bit; she's spending more time out in the living room near us.

87 . . . I am returning to work today. I will take kids from loving homes to a hostile environment that they would want to skip. However, only 5 weeks f school left.

My school system offers 5 days of bereavement leave. I will work mornings (which is the absolute hardest time to get a replacement) and continue to do all the myriad of stuff that needs doing in the afternoon.
