Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 4/ 15 /25![]() “The administration’s prescription goes beyond the power of the federal government,” whined Garber. “It violates Harvard’s First Amendment rights and exceeds the statutory limits of the government’s authority under Title VI. And it threatens our values as a private institution devoted to the pursuit, production, and dissemination of knowledge.” Weird what happens when you take money from the government.Even weirder is the fact that Harvard's endowment, which is valued at somewhere north of $53 Billion dollars is somehow getting money from Uncle Sugar. Now expand this to not only academia but to every area of the private sector that receives money from the government and you quickly see how over the course of decades the parallel trajectory downward of our freedom and society and our economic well being. Repulsive as it may be, if Harvard wants to employ a gaggle of Claudine Gays and teach Jew-hatred and whatever else, let them do it with their own damn money, not ours! As the late great Milton Friedman so brilliantly observed, there is nothing so permanent as a temporary government program. I thought the 16th amendment was an emergency measure to help fund our involvement and pay for our debt incurred in fighting the First World War. Then again, if it was, then where was the follow-on amendment to abolish it? And from Wilson to FDR to LBJ and on and on and on, the Leviathan exploded. Update: the income tax was ratified in 1913 before WW1. I stand corrected. So what is the Federal government's actual purpose beyond merely supposedly our national defense and postal service as was originally intended by those old white guys. And how was it funded in the first place? Could it be that this is what DOGE and tariffs are meant to address. Whether Trump understands history in the first place, he like all of us know and have known for years that something is rotten in DC, hence his descent from the Trump Tower escalator 10 years ago this summer and the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune not to mention the bullets and kangaroo courts. Speaking of which, we have the interrelated topic of a now feral , out of control tyrannical judiciary to contend with as per our good friend the estimable and erudite author and historian Michael Walsh lays out in his latest essay: “When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master—that’s all.” And so here we are, with the battle for the soul of the Constitution now having assumed semi-human shape in the person of a "Maryland man" named Kilmar Abrego Garcia who is now dwelling in a maximum security prison in El Salvador -- his native land, as it happens. On one side is President Trump and the plain language of Article 2 of our founding document, and the principal members of his cabinet. On the other is the federal judiciary, whose sole constitutionally mandated member in Article 3 is the chief justice of the Supreme Court, all other federal justices and judges having been invented by Congress. The rest of Team 3 consists of the fleets of legal barnacles who feed off the body of the Republic and whose devotion to punctilious adherence to their own largely invented rules and principles is purely self-interested.Of course whatever the courts can't do, there is a growing number of pyschopaths, and others who will use any means at their disposposal with zero compunction since, as was inscribed on the belt buckles of the S.S. Gott mit Uns God is on our side. Rather ironic considering the nietzschian-worshipping left is about as far removed from God as one can get. Example the first for your consideration: Federal charges have been filed against Jamison Wagner, a self-described “queer” electrical engineer, in connection with recent firebomb attacks in Albuquerque, New Mexico targeting the Republican Party headquarters and a Tesla Showroom. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI Albuquerque Field Office jointly investigated the case with assistance from the Albuquerque Police Department and the New Mexico Department of Justice, the Department of Justice said in a press release. Investigators linked Albuquerque resident Wagner to both incidents through surveillance footage and evidence from the scene, according to the Justice Department. Wagner, 40, is a member of the LGBTQ+ group “500 Queer Scientists.”Moving right along: The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Monday it charged a Georgia man with sending violent threats against the head of the Trump administration’s intelligence community. Aliakbar Mohammad Amin, 24, allegedly sent threats to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and her family over text and social media posts, the DOJ said in a press release. The announcement comes after a week full of charges related to violent animosity against Republicans and the Trump administration.https://www.city-journal.org/article/progressives-political-violence-donald-trump-assassination-attempt A new report from our group, the Network Contagion Research Institute, provides answers. Our research, based on nationally representative surveys and analyses of online activity, demonstrates the existence of online subcultures that support the murder of public figures like Trump and Musk. This “assassination culture,” incubated on social media, has migrated from the margins of public life into the mainstream. We found that nearly one-third of Americans surveyed—and around half of those identifying as left-of-center—believe that the murder of certain public figures is at least somewhat justified. The figures are startling: 38 percent of respondents, and 55 percent of those left of center, said assassinating President Trump would be at least somewhat justified; 31 percent of respondents, and 48 percent of those left of center, said the same about Musk. Forty percent of respondents, and 58 percent of those left of center, deem it at least somewhat acceptable to “destroy a Tesla dealership” in protest. . . . . . This finding is especially concerning, as it reveals that many progressives have adopted a coherent ideology that justifies political violence. While right-wing extremism certainly exists, its left-wing equivalent merits considerable attention. Unfortunately, it has been historically understudied and, according to corroborating reports, is on the rise. The rise of this ideology is troubling for American democracy. Political assassinations often occur when perpetrators believe a critical share of the public will tolerate—or even justify—them. Given the growing number of Americans who now express support for political violence, and the surge in threats to political figures, we recommend heightened security precautions across all levels of government. What this otherwise informative essay does not mention is the constant drumbeat of hateful rhetoric about President Trump, conservatives and their supporters coming from every level of leadership and membership of the Democrat Party and their allies in the media and culture, along with the aforementioned American academia from pre-school to post-graduate. And of course to mention Islam is utterly verboten! But to deny Harvard $9 Billion to foment pogroms and political violence is somehow antithetical to the Constitution or something. And before the trolls start in with but Josh Shapiro, it seems as if his mansion was set on fire by a certifiable and confirmed psychotic who might actually be a leftist and/or Democrat. And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

It's 2025, the feds collect the income tax like it's 1825. First, set your withholding, then have money taken out of your paycheck each payday, then make sure you file so you can either pay more or get a refund because you "paid" too much so the feds send you money back without interest. Oh, deductions and special loopholes for everything from blind bastards to broodmares. One more thing, tax the retirement and social security too, just in case the feds missed something this first time. H & R Block and TurboTax and other parasites are standing by to help you file for a fee of course.

Important rhetorical inflections and signals from the Bukele Oval Office session yesterday with the media, I thought. Chiefly, the concerted and concise takedown of the CNN reporter (involving Trump, Bondi, Miller, Rubio and even Bukele). This wasn't more tired or throwaway plaints about "fake news" -- it was an organized, offensive action. It compelled CNN to defend itself later, whining about how they didn't hate America. This was new, and important, as I see it. The media as the grand inquisitor has always been the one putting us on defense. The tables were turned, at least in that moment. But more than a mere spasm of offensiveness, the approach was a dedicated, documented litany involving Trump's entire team. I hope the moment wasn't a one-off. Putting the media on the defensive is a critical shift in the civil war we're in.

FYI: I am not sure if Katy Perry is familiar with Goethe but her "divine feminine" comment is a Goethean concept directly from his play "Faust." It has of course become corrupted since Goethe's time, and it originally had a bit less of the current "feminazi" attributes associated with it (though it was still a fairly radical idea at the time). There were also far more religious connotations to it, including the fact that the Virgin Mary was the primary example of the Eternal Feminine.

The Mom of the fire bomber in PA claims she was desperately trying to get him help/custody to keep her increasingly nutso son from exploding in violence. It is true that it's nearly impossible to get someone inpatient treatment without the nuts consent.
About a dozen years ago in Virginia, Dem legislator Creigh Deeds son was going completely off the rails mentally and even though Deeds was connected to government, he couldn't get the son confined. That weekend the son got a hold of a display/ceremonial sword and he sliced up his Dad, nearly killing him. I think he got 300 stitches or so. Then the state confined the son. over half a million separate court cases, then Posted by: Don Black Probably not going to stand upon appeal. See BiMetallic and Londoner v. Denver re due process required also Mathews v. Eldridge. Essentially TPS was a gift, not a property right and sending one back to their home country is not equivalent to punishment by the US. TPS statute starts with Temporary Protected Status aka not permanent refugee status which IS adjudicated on a case by case basis. So, rule making notice and comment applies under constitutional due process (BiMetallic and Mathews), not individualized hearings. So, we shall see what higher courts do or not. A lot of this crap is because of fake and gay Biden judges who are either immigrants, senior status, or first generation types like this judge and a total ignoring of statutory law, customs, and even the constitutional regarding immigration laws (Congress has plenary power over immigration and nationalization and that power is delegated to the President so that he acts with the power of both branches). Hello.
Just to be the Akshually guy: the income tax has always been part of the general taxing power of Congress. That power predates the 16A. All 16A does is remove an apportionment requirement on income taxes. IIRC there was an income tax that was used to help pay for the Civil War. There were certainly income taxes before the 16A, in fact those are the reason the Amendment was created in the first place. Posted by: WitchDoktor at April 15, 2025 08:38 AM (06wU2) 190

That was mentioned yesterday, by Bondi, Rubio and Miller. However, didn't the court also rule that we need to return the deported individual? (Which we will not do, and Bukele will not do.) Posted by: Ordinary American ------ No, the court said effectively if El Salvador wants to be rid of him, we need to send a plane to get him...bring him back...and then send him somewhere else. But it is 100% all El Salvador's call. Posted by: Nova Local ----- Nova Loca is correct but the order itself was poorly worded. The US is required to facilitate, not effectuate according to the High Court. The Stink of Roberts court decisions is always to leave strategic ambiguity rather than clear denunciation of what the lower court did. Thus, the trial judge after setting a ridiculous deadline for the government to reply, ignored the govt position on the High Court order and ignored the facilitate order (to allow the US to transfer him back the the US with deference to prezzie in favor of the effectuate (make the US withdraw Garcia and bring him back to the US). nNo, the court said effectively if El Salvador wants to be rid of him, we need to send a plane to get him...bring him back...and then send him somewhere else.
Thus, Scotus will have to slap down the judge all over again. Posted by: whig at April 15, 2025 08:41 AM (ctrM5) I'm sure I understood it wrongly cuz this can't be correct, but it appears that the Roberts Ruling puts the country of the illegal's origin in control of the US's foreign policy and security, instead of the President. Political Wankery on income taxes is why I would much rather go to a consumption tax only--e.g. national sales tax, or even tariffs, instead of the current monstrosity. In part, we scrapped the tariff system for revenue in exchange for income taxes, because the tariff system had similar political wankery for political interests and became way too complex requiring specialists. Posted by: WitchDoktor ======= True. In Harvard's case, they are arguing more or less that anti-semitism is protected under the 1A. It is from prosecution unless a true threat is issued, but it is not if an institution allows it to harass other students and gets federal funding. Ironically, Bob Jones University kerfluffle in the 1980's that would probably have been supported by Harvard at the time, was denied non profit status by the IRS for not allowing blacks to enter. There are also the Grove City case which caused Sen Edward Kennedy to lead revising federal statutes that require all functions in a university accepting funds from the feds to follow what the fed says regarding discriminatory treatment. Essentially, Harvard is hoist by its own petard. It wants those wealthy Arab students that are antisemitic but doesn't want the Feds to draw their bux away. That is because Harvard doesn't want to control their imported students and radical faculty plus foreign donations to them. Posted by: whig at April 15, 2025 09:03 AM (ctrM5) 322

316 I used to think the Libertarian line that taxation was theft was overblown.
And then thanks to DOGE I looked at what the government was spending my money on and...the Libertarians have a point here. Posted by: 18-1 ---------- The problem is that if you define all taxation as theft, then you won't have a government. Course you will be paying the local warlord to keep your shit and your life intact but with no actual government that would not be a tax per se. It is more fair to think about taxes as a penalty on your time on Earth. Each moment you spend working in order to pay government taxes is taking your limited time on Earth that you could be spending with loved ones, etc. Even in retirement, the taking of your accumulated surplus that you saved for old age, represents time you spent on Earth doing work. That is why I consider consumption taxes more fair in the end than income and wealth taxes. Posted by: whig at April 15, 2025 09:13 AM (ctrM5) 351

Today he’s at 50% approval and the index is -6. Amazing what a 10% jump in stocks can do to a presidential approval. So much of those unfunded mandates can and probably will be ditched if a financial crunch occurs and people cannot do shit about it. Most likely to fail financially shortly is Medicare as demand is skyrocketing and the tax is woefully under what is required to pay benefits. Social Security can probably be stretched to the 2050-2070's by simply raising the retirement age again like they did in the 80's. Right now, Medicaid and Medicare are the fastest rising spending and compose about 25 percent of the federal budget. If you exclude interest payments, more like one third of the remaining budget. An NGO that can’t function without government money is anything but “non-governmental.
This brings up an important topic that I think we have ignored for too long. When an abbreviation or acronym beings with a sound that would begin with a vowel if spelled onomatopoeically, should the article be "an" or "a?" Posted by: runner ====== Problem is that the DOJ career attorney (now fired) told the court in a filing that the government deported Garcia in error (destination but not the actual deportation). That deception was purposefully planted for the Resistance media by that DOJ stooge of the left in the court filing. She was fired but that court filing by fedgov in the case was seized upon and amplified by that idiot district court judge and the media afterwards as she most likely intended it to be. Tammi Mac, intrepid host of “The Business of Being Black,” kicked off the panel discussion with the sassy rhetorical question: “White culture — is it even a thing?”
“Spicy food is often associated with ethnic food. Is unseasoned food a part of white culture?... Soul food is a huge part of black culture. What food would you equate to white culture?” The self-flagellating white cuck on the panel, on cue, then plunges into a diatribe about how white people don’t eat anything interesting or whatever. You know the thing. Then comes the raisin-bashing from Tammi. “What is it with the raisins? What is it with white people and the raisins in the potato salad, the raisins in the macaroni, the raisins?” Posted by: SMOD at April 15, 2025 09:36 AM (RHGPo) 421
Of course you know I'm kidding about the Diving Deeper and Key Takeaway Why it Matters stuff. Thats the most insidious mind control shit I've seen in a while. I think it's Axios that popularized it.
------- Axios and Vox primarily do that as talking points to people that want to think they are smart. But media sources, are often 'experts' that are sought out because they give them the imprimatur of authority--not because the expert is right. Had that way back in my career where a NYT reporter contacted me. Ditto for a local newsrag. If your information does not match what the paper wants, it will go elsewhere for another 'expert' to say what it wants. Or, it will misquote you to the effect that it appears you agree with their narrative. I quit talking at all with the press afterwards and our institution shortly thereafter required all media contacts go through them. Didn't need the headache of that bullshit reporting requirements. I was there to teach and do the required research, not to deal with bullshit media. Posted by: whig at April 15, 2025 09:37 AM (ctrM5) 422

Gotta love the high-ranking irony of the Ivies proudly proclaiming that they will not surrender to federal control of their institutions.
It has apparently never occurred to these Ivies that by losing their federal stipends they are being released from federal control; that they no longer have to follow federal diktat about what they might offer. Trump, by withdrawing their federal support, is forcing them to achieve exactly what they have set as their goal. And they're unhappy about it?
