Top Story

  • AMD is moving to TSMC's N2 process (2nm) for its Zen 6 cores next year, jumping straight over 3nm. (Tom's Hardware)

This rumour comes from... AMD and TSMC during an official announcement that AMD has the first Zen 6 silicon in house for testing.

    So probably legit.

N2 is 15% faster than the current N3 node, only AMD's CPUs and GPUs are all still on the N4 node which is older again.

Also mentioned during the announcement is that AMD has qualified TSMC's fabs in Arizona to start manufacturing its current 4nm chips.

Fen, the title reminds me of the 1961 film with Jeffrey Hunter as Jesus, King of Kings. Robert Ryan plays John the Baptist (though I'll always think of Charlton Heston in that role) and Rip Torn as Judas. I haven't seen it in years and don't recall how it compares to the big epic from '65, The Greatest Story Ever Told.

Yes, the Jeffrey Hunter film is one of my favorites and FenSpouse enjoys it too. He refers to Jeffrey Hunter as Jesus as "the athletic Christ" because a far amount of the movie has Jesus striding up mountains and hills.

Posted by: FenelonSpoke at April 15, 2025 06:19 AM (dKL5S)

70 The Greatest Story Ever Told is the film everybody remembers, because it was a big-budget picture with major stars in the roles. Max von Sydow as Jesus, Telly Savalas as Pilate, the young David McCallum as Judas, Charlton Heston as John the Baptist, Dorothy McGuire as Mary, and Claude Rains as King Herod. And, IMDb says, Pat Boone as "The Angel at the Tomb," which seems way weird.

Maybe one of the over-the-air channels will show this or King of Kings this week. When I was a boy, one of the local channels always would during Holy Week -- that or The Ten Commandments.

89 I do have some more sobering news. My wife has been ailing for some time, with little help from her medical team.

I took her to Urgent Care, then a rural emergency room, and she was transported to a big city hospital all last Thursday. She had a heart attack Friday. She is being prepped for triple-bypass open heart surgery tomorrow.

Prayers from the Horde are powerful, and I can testify.

110 @63/NR Pax: "They're in a bit of a bind. He's giving them bad publicity but he's gay so firing him is going to be difficult."

Nope, they're on solid ground. In practically every C-Level executive's contract, there's a clause about disparaging the company, bringing its reputation into disrepute, or actions which demonstrate a severe lack of judgement, and how that may result in penalties up to and including termination of employment.

Ford Motor Company can execute that clause and terminate for cause without issue. There is no provable discrimination here for Mr. Evans to fall back on. Plus, Ford will just buy him out to make him go away, and if they have any sense at all, they'll also make his board position go away at the same time.

Posted by: MikeCLT at April 15, 2025 06:05 AM (FO8do)

16GB and a 512GB SSD should work for you in Windows 11 for just word processing and web browsing.

It will be a little slower to start up the laptop, and apps will take a little longer to load compared to 32GB, but nothing horrible.

You won’t really notice much difference other than that unless you leave a lot of apps open at the same time. If you browse with a lot of tabs open and YouTube going you may notice it becoming sluggish, but if you close some programs and/or tabs it should clear that right up.

16 will get you by until you need a new rig several years from now at which point 32 will be necessary because AI will be embedded into everything.

If you like Apple, a MacBook Air with 16GB would be fine for you, with a really good looking screen and nice build quality for around $999, or cheaper with previous year models on sale at Amazon or Best Buy.

If you're buying a model that can't be upgraded later, go for 32GB. You may not need it now, but requirements increase every year.

Any more than 32GB is only if you run something specific that needs it.

You get picked to take a ride on someone else's rocket on a little sightseeing tour, and all it does is reinforce your carefully cultivated disdain for your fellow man? It's so small and nasty and cheap. You learned nothing. You didn't grow at all, you shrank. That existing Default Liberal instinct to be the arbiter of all that is good and just in the world just got a little B12 shot in the arm for a few minutes.

Typically when a fictional character is confronted with the vastness of existence or something similar, and their response is to redouble their disdain for humanity, we call that character The Bad Guy.
