Bill Maher Praises Trump

Hell freezes over.

The leftwing media is attacking Maher for having platformed the President.

Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin accused "Real Time" host Bill Maher in a testy exchange on Friday of having "fallen into the trap" by meeting with President Donald Trump the previous week.
Maher, a longtime Trump critic who's nonetheless stood out on the late-night circuit with his criticism of leftist excess, said Trump was "gracious and measured" during his visit to the White House, acknowledging his warm words might not be well-received by progressives.
Rogin, however, pushed back on Maher's decision to visit the White House and suggested that he had been used as part of a "PR stunt."
"I think you've fallen into the trap, and I think I represent 99% of the internet when I say this: you've played the game of proximity is principle," Rogin said. "I'm not questioning your motivation, I'm questioning Trump's, OK?"
Rogin emphasized that both he and the audience trusted that Maher met with Trump in good faith, but questioned Trump's motives for the dinner.
The praise seemed to have struck a nerve with Maher, who told Rogin, "You don't have to patronize me, dude. I don't know you. I've never met you."
"Not everybody has to like it. That's what we said. There are people who didn't want it to happen at all. You sound like one of them, it's OK."
Rogin attempted to talk over the late-night host but was abruptly cut off by Maher asking, "Did you hear what I said? What is the alternative to not talking? Just sit at your lunch table and don't talk to anybody?"
In his response to Maher, Rogin claimed that Trump saw this meeting as a "PR stunt," and used Maher as a "prop in that PR stunt."

Not giving Rogin a chance to respond, Maher jumped right back into challenging his interpretation of the Trump meeting.
"The fact that you began your little rant with 'the internet,' that tells me everything. You take your cues from the internet. Good luck," he told Rogin.
Rogin attempted to push back on Maher, questioning whether the late-night host believed that Trump would be "changed" after the meeting. Maher quickly shut him down.
"I said in the piece I did not think that was going to happen!" he sternly told Rogin, to which the columnist replied, "In that case then, go with God and enjoy."

Keith Olbermann cried in his bathtub.

Media firebrand Keith Olbermann has unleashed a scathing rebuke of comedian and HBO/Max host Bill Maher for Maher's praise for President Donald Trump following a dinner set up by Kid Rock.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Olbermann dismissed the dinner as a transactional move to preserve Maher's career, directly attacking Maher's character and motivations.
"BTW don't overanalyze Maher prostituting himself to Trump," Olbermann wrote in a post. "Maher works for the same fascists at Warner who took over and corrupted CNN."
Olbermann, who has had a long and often combative career in media, claimed personal knowledge of Maher stretching back nearly five decades.
"I've known Bill since 1978. He was a shameless opportunist with no real principles then and he remains so," he added. "This is so he can keep his HBO show."

HBO has had the chance to cancel Bill Maher's unfunny show for like 20 years and they haven't done so. Why would they suddenly be hot to cancel it?

WWII has become the cultural myth underpinning a lot of modern states, today, This is much the way that the Punic wars became the founding myth of first the Roman Republic, and then the Roman Empire. Like most fundamental societal myths, it is dangerous to question them, since that questions the whole underpinning of the society that justifies its direction. Neocons and liberals justify themselves on WWII and the nasties.

FenSpouse and I had a lovely day off. We walked around some beautiful gardens and then went to an early showing of "Kings of Kings" which is an animated film by Angel Studios, the Christian film company which made "Sound of Freedom" and the movie about St Francis Cabrini. The movie is about Charles Dickens telling his young son about the story of Jesus. and they become part of the Biblical action Lovely animation, very moving and even though it's a film that would be good for kids, adults can enjoy it as well, It also has some big names doing the voices including Ben Kingsley but I was glad that there was an unknown (to me at least) voicing Jesus. A nice experience for Holy Week.

The guy everyone is overreacting to.

People like Douglas Murray mischaracterized what Darryl Cooper said about Churchill's role in WW2, and that was one of the fundamental problems with Murray's actions on Rogan's podcast.

He kept saying Cooper has no right to say what he did, because he's not an expert, and when he got pushback for it, he said "I never said you can't talk about it."

And this went on for like 40 minutes, with Murray thinking he was playing some sort of gotcha game, without EVER offering an argument as to why Darryl (and Dave Smith and Joe Rogan) were wrong in their opinions.

My take is that the British people were sick of the Baldwin-Chamberlain Conservative Party and wanted them out at the first opportunity. The Conservative Party stalwarts did not like or trust Churchill. He was not one of them. They were ready to sell out Poland just like the Czechs, but Churchill and his fellow Con rebels +Labour + Liberals wouldn't let them. But the British parliamentary system meant that Churchill had to go, along with the mossbacks. No love for Atlee, he just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Five years later, he was out, too. Churchill swept back in.

Hitler and Stalin together combined to start World War 2, killing 6 million Germans, almost 35 million Russians/Ukrainians, etc., 4 million Poles. 6 million Jews, and on and on, totaling finally 57 million people. They both invaded Poland in September 1939. And, yes, Stalin was getting ready to invade Central Europe in July of 1941. Fortunately for Western Europe, Hitler jumped first. World War 2 is equally Hitler and Stalin's responsibility, in my view.
