The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition
US President Donald Trump is seeking to limit Iran's uranium enrichment to 3.67%, White House special envoy Steve Witkoff told Fox News on Monday night. This is a significant statement, as it is considerably more lenient than the Israeli demand—publicly voiced by the Prime Minister—which calls for the "Libyan model," meaning the complete physical dismantling of Iran’s military nuclear facilities. "Iran should not have nuclear weapons. This can be achieved through an agreement—but only if it's a Libya-style agreement," said Prime Minister Netanyahu following his meeting with President Trump last Monday. "That means going in, blowing up the facilities, dismantling all the equipment—under American supervision and executed by the US" Last week, the Post reported that the US administration would allow Iran to retain a civilian nuclear program—even as part of a nuclear agreement. "Trump said Iran will not have nuclear weapons. Military nuclear facilities—no. Civilian nuclear program—yes," said a source familiar with the details of the Netanyahu-Trump meeting to The Jerusalem Post.
Okay, so they get to keep their "civilian" nuclear facilities? How much of a stretch is it to go back to military research? I'll bet not much. And here, just a few days after the first round of talks comes that fabled lying and manipulation! Tehran says next round of Iran-US nuclear talks in Oman after Rome named by officials
It wasn't immediately clear where the negotiations would be held after Tehran's overnight announcement. American officials have not said where the talks would be held. President Donald Trump separately complained Monday about the pace of nuclear talks between the United States and Iran as the two countries start a new round of pivotal negotiations. "I think they're tapping us along," he said in the Oval Office during a meeting with El Salvador's president.
That was quick! But President Trump needs to act decisively, or he will be seen as a big talker but a small doer. He promised to end the Ukraine War in one day. Nope. He told Hamas that if they didn't release the hostages that he would open the gates of hell. Nope. If these threats against Iran are merely talk, then he will have proven to the world that he is a blustering buffoon when it comes to Iran, just like the other presidents who were taken in by their mendacity. There will come a time when Iran simply stops enriching Uranium, because they will have enough for the number of bombs they wish to use on Israel and, perhaps, on America. They might even announce to the world that they have stopped enrichment...in the interests of world peace of course! Then they will focus on the engineering obstacles, which are manageable. How long before they have a few functioning nuclear devices? How much help are they getting from North Korea and Russia? Will it take a few months or a year or two? It doesn't matter, because it isn't worth the risk. Iran must be stopped now,and no degree of compromise is acceptable. This is a binary question: Will we allow an Iranian nuclear device or will we stop it? Call me crazy, but I think Trump will get a deal done with Iran, and soon. I have long thought that Iran was on the balls of its ass, in much worse shape than the leftwing media reported, and basically desperate for a deal.
The only think propping Iran up was Obama and Biden funneling 100s of billions to it. Now that that's gone, I think Trump can force them into a deal. Whether they ever live up to any deal is another question.

And...removing fed spending from GDP growth and not being positive since 2007? One can argue about the merits of including fed spending in the number and how it helps things, but that is anything but a sign of a healthy economy.
The CR scam is a giant, giant drain on the economy. If Johnson can get a horrible budget through and Thune can get it done as well, this will be the most consequential and positive Congress in decades.

A lot of American firepower has been moved into the Middle East and at Diego Garcia. A third of our B-2 bombers are at DG. Two carrier strike groups and a slew of USAF planes at various locations around the Persian Gulf.

Officers serve at the pleasure of the Commander in Chief and can be relieved of such immediately. Such was a direct result of Gen. Washington being sent countless crappy officers at the behest of pols in Congress and states and not being able to fire them/send them home.
Constitution provisions were put in Article II to fix that issue permanently.

It has been noted. Ice Station Woke (Greenland) lost their female commander after she saw fit to bad mouth the president. IIRC a slew of officers were handed their separation papers a couple weeks ago as well.

If Trump's "On Day One" really means "Year One", that might be OK. But I already have misgivings about Bondi, Patel, and Bongino. At least a couple guys that were actively involved in the J6 hunt, and/or the attacks on conservative parents, are getting praise and promotion.

Going through the motions of attempting to secure an "agreement" is the current stage. The military option is apparently pretty significant if the amount of hardware in the region is any indication.

I would tend to agree. Trump is not necessarily averse to using force, especially against terrorizing ass hats like the mullahs. But, it is more likely whether it would be successful regarding strikes. Israel has already depantsed Iran's air defenses but those bunkers are probably really deep too.
Most Bomb Damage Assessments of underground bunker targets are not that reliable and we consistently had that problem in the dustups with Iraq I and II.
Might almost be better to target their fuel refineries first which will cripple the Iranian economy much more or their oil export facilities that kills the regime's ability to get cash.

Texas was still loaded with railroad tracks for freight shipment. You could've literally gone into any of the major cities and set up convenient stations. Just by seizing and upgrading the tracks.

It's an idea who's time has come and gone.
I suggest a Texas Zeppelin Fleet for travel between cities.
Would be almost as fast and easy as hell to set up convenient fields.

So the options are some sort of direct attack, which won't happen, or fomenting overthrow of the Mullahs, which could happen. So make life miserable for the regime and thus the population that the leadership is overthrown or leaves and what's left pursues a more peaceful path. If what you are saying is accurate, option 2 seems the only realistic path, but will and can that happen? We've seen glimmers of it before but it never comes to pass.
