Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition![]() US President Donald Trump is seeking to limit Iran's uranium enrichment to 3.67%, White House special envoy Steve Witkoff told Fox News on Monday night. This is a significant statement, as it is considerably more lenient than the Israeli demand—publicly voiced by the Prime Minister—which calls for the "Libyan model," meaning the complete physical dismantling of Iran’s military nuclear facilities. "Iran should not have nuclear weapons. This can be achieved through an agreement—but only if it's a Libya-style agreement," said Prime Minister Netanyahu following his meeting with President Trump last Monday. "That means going in, blowing up the facilities, dismantling all the equipment—under American supervision and executed by the US" Last week, the Post reported that the US administration would allow Iran to retain a civilian nuclear program—even as part of a nuclear agreement. "Trump said Iran will not have nuclear weapons. Military nuclear facilities—no. Civilian nuclear program—yes," said a source familiar with the details of the Netanyahu-Trump meeting to The Jerusalem Post. Okay, so they get to keep their "civilian" nuclear facilities? How much of a stretch is it to go back to military research? I'll bet not much. And here, just a few days after the first round of talks comes that fabled lying and manipulation! Tehran says next round of Iran-US nuclear talks in Oman after Rome named by officials It wasn't immediately clear where the negotiations would be held after Tehran's overnight announcement. American officials have not said where the talks would be held. President Donald Trump separately complained Monday about the pace of nuclear talks between the United States and Iran as the two countries start a new round of pivotal negotiations. "I think they're tapping us along," he said in the Oval Office during a meeting with El Salvador's president. That was quick! But President Trump needs to act decisively, or he will be seen as a big talker but a small doer. He promised to end the Ukraine War in one day. Nope. He told Hamas that if they didn't release the hostages that he would open the gates of hell. Nope. If these threats against Iran are merely talk, then he will have proven to the world that he is a blustering buffoon when it comes to Iran, just like the other presidents who were taken in by their mendacity. There will come a time when Iran simply stops enriching Uranium, because they will have enough for the number of bombs they wish to use on Israel and, perhaps, on America. They might even announce to the world that they have stopped enrichment...in the interests of world peace of course! Then they will focus on the engineering obstacles, which are manageable. How long before they have a few functioning nuclear devices? How much help are they getting from North Korea and Russia? Will it take a few months or a year or two? It doesn't matter, because it isn't worth the risk. Iran must be stopped now,and no degree of compromise is acceptable. This is a binary question: Will we allow an Iranian nuclear device or will we stop it? Well, he kinda did. True, no formal deal was made, but the war was effectively over as soon as he kicked that parasitic dwarf out of the WH. Call me crazy, but I think Trump will get a deal done with Iran, and soon. I have long thought that Iran was on the balls of its ass, in much worse shape than the leftwing media reported, and basically desperate for a deal. The only think propping Iran up was Obama and Biden funneling 100s of billions to it. Now that that's gone, I think Trump can force them into a deal. Whether they ever live up to any deal is another question. Posted by: Elric Blade at April 15, 2025 11:09 AM (iFTx/) 19

62 I think Trump is going through the negotiations rigamarole in order to look reasonable, so that when Iran rejects or reneges on a deal, he will be justified in going into full p***y-grabbing mode against Iran.
Posted by: Bulg I would tend to agree. Trump is not necessarily averse to using force, especially against terrorizing ass hats like the mullahs. But, it is more likely whether it would be successful regarding strikes. Israel has already depantsed Iran's air defenses but those bunkers are probably really deep too. Most Bomb Damage Assessments of underground bunker targets are not that reliable and we consistently had that problem in the dustups with Iraq I and II. Might almost be better to target their fuel refineries first which will cripple the Iranian economy much more or their oil export facilities that kills the regime's ability to get cash. Thanks to Biden&Co the US military would most likely be unable to handle two large simultaneous conflicts properly. Those would be Iran and China. I believe that's what's keeping a quick launch on Iran from happening for out part. Not sure if Iran would require much more than a really harsh bombing run over several days, but even that would require a significant number of our ships and planes. First for the attack then for stabilization. Taiwan's another matter in that China's buddies in the area North Korea and Russia may start the shenanigans as China decides it's go time. Loading up Taiwan (if they want them) with warfare drones seems to be the best way to handle things if we want to fight two fronts. But, that would mostly be a holding operation instead of a clear battlefield win. Posted by: naturalfake at April 15, 2025 11:35 AM (iJfKG) 77

I have heard from some anti-Trump officers that it is acceptable for them to challenge Trump and be “disloyal” to him on political matters because while the enlisted oath of office includes the phrase “that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States,” no such words regarding the president appear in the officer oath of office. This idea is highly disturbing.

Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo ======= That requires a dance with two partners--the Arab states and Israel. Israel wants its hostages back which is difficult if you launch Linebacker I and II type mass bombing of Ham Ass and whether it would destabilize surrounding Jordan and Egypt along with the Saudis is another consideration. Lebanon and Syria are already destabilized to the point where there really is no functioning central government. Essentially Trump is replaying Nixon's role in late Vietnam negotiations. Promising pain but not doing it until Ham Ass walks from the table. That makes it, probably in Arab eyes, more acceptable for Ham Ass to be eliminated by force majeur. Posted by: naturalfake China can bomb them but amphibious operations sufficient to take on Taiwan on land is quite another animal. My guess is that if China moves against Taiwan, a blockade would be the first option. Missile exchanges risk the Three Gorges Dam in China which would effectively destroy China's ability to function as an economy more effectively than an a-bomb if not harming its military directly. It is also likely that Taiwan (which has nuclear power) can assemble nukes on short notice. They participated in a group with South Africa (which made them) and Israeli techs to get the know how to make them. Dunno about delivery systems though. But, nuking incoming Chinese amphibious ships is possible with minimal effects itself on Taiwan from fallout. Most of our entertainment class become dullards because they focus on what makes them money and gaining power and influence in the biz. That leaves little time to actually understand issues so they hire a publicist to put out press releases in their names on the issues of the day which are almost always leftist group think.
Posted by: whig at April 15, 2025 12:14 PM (ctrM5) This is exacerbated by the modern achievement of being "an influencer". I can't say that I don't know about something. -------- It'd likely wreck the economies of half the world in addition to killing millions downstream. There might be a bit of a trade war going on right now, but China still produces and delivers most of the goods we (and others) are using in everyday life. The problem here is that historically, beginning with the Soviet Union in 1949, the entry of new nations into the "Nuclear Club" has always taken us by surprise.
It would not surprise me if Iran already has nukes. They have the designs to build them, courtesy of Pakistan and North Korea. All they need is the enriched uranium. Nor should we expect to learn that the Iranians have nukes when they "test" one. Unlike most other countries, the Iranians do not see nuclear weapons as a deterrence. They fully intend to use them. Starting with Israel, but not leaving us out. When the mullahs say, "Imagine a world without America -- it can happen!" what they are talking about is an EMP attack on us, likely launched from seaborne platforms masquerading as container ships off our coasts. That day is closer than a lot of people in our "intelligence community" want to believe, if past performance is any indication. Posted by: Taylor at April 15, 2025 12:24 PM (vo+XL) 227
"No one gives an order.
Everything is merely understood. Much harder to prove guilt that way." yeah ... but in the corporate world, if any employee damages something, the company is on the line to pay for it. Seems it would be the same sort of liability for a leftist NGO (which is also probably misappropriating funds, which goes to political activists). The wink and nod thing was the whole point or RICO and the mob bosses ... I thought. Posted by: illiniwek at April 15, 2025 12:24 PM (Cus5s) 228

All this speculation about negotiating with the Iranians.
Here's what's gonna happen. They're gonna sit down and drink tea and the first mad mullah is going to start jabbering about the Great Satan and Israel and such. Then, Donny 2-Scoops is going to reach into is pocket and pull out a pic of the dude's house and family and tell him to sit TF down and STFU. And later that night, while the IDF is busy destroying the infrastructure of the Iranian nuclear program, US naval aircraft will then destroy the Iranian naval bases in retaliation for that shit they pulled on Obama's watch. I love the modern approach of "white people are the problem, white people are violent, white people are full of hate, etc" when in reality white people are, on the whole, the only group that will accept you if you embrace their culture. In most cases that's Western Civilization.
Every single person everywhere agrees and knows it's true, too. It's why everyone wants to move next to white people. Posted by: Boron Cobbie - Men's resources matter to women, women's weight matters to men at April 15, 2025 12:25 PM (bk+Z+) 234

So the options are some sort of direct attack, which won't happen, or fomenting overthrow of the Mullahs, which could happen. So make life miserable for the regime and thus the population that the leadership is overthrown or leaves and what's left pursues a more peaceful path. If what you are saying is accurate, option 2 seems the only realistic path, but will and can that happen? We've seen glimmers of it before but it never comes to pass.

184 Urging others to war when you are not in the game is the essence of chicken hawkery.
- - - - - - Who is urging for war? Not me and not least because I could end up involved in that conflict. Iran currently is in a proxy war with Israel, a country they are open about wanting to destroy and their public statements, nuclear and ballistic missile programs all point in one direction. Witkoff sold a repackaged Biden deal & said Hamas weren't 'ideologically locked in' on fellow idiot Carlson's show. The current negotiations have been so reduced in scope that whatever the outcome they will be almost useless in stopping Iran. He is an idiot, he lost the confidence of the Israelis and it was a bad appointment by Trump. Good allies have to care about national interests of their friends.
