Saturday Night "Club ONT" April 19, 2025 [The 3 D's]

20250418-image(2).jpg

Welcome to Club ONT! A collaboration of your Sunday through Wednesday ONT Crew - The Disco, The Doggo, and The Dino. Two D show tonight as the Doggo jumped the fence and is roaming the neighborhood - if you get a message from him about canned meat, don't open it. It's Spam.

Top photo: Easter baskets at Club ONT may be a little different than those the Easter Bunny leaves for the kiddies.

Saturday Night Jokes

I met a girl at a club the other night and she told me she'd show me a good time. When we got outside, she ran a 40 yard dash in 4.8 seconds.

"Hi, I'm here for Paradox Club."
Actually this is Oxymoron Club.
"Ok, same difference."
*looks at group*
Oh, this guy is good.

*****

*****

Club worthy content.

Drink like a Viking. Super-Sized.

The Vikings are not only known for their prowess in war but also their penchant for drinking - with a particular fondness for beer and mead. The latest archaeology discovery reinforces the latter notion as archaeologists have uncovered a massive Norse hall dating back to 1,100 years ago. Given the structure's design and location, researchers believe that the Medieval stone structure may have been a drinking hall meant for the leisurely gatherings of the Viking elite.

Drink of the Night

The Drunk Bunny (sorry, not that type of bunny)

Ingredients:

- 1 or make it 2 shots of white rum - Bacardi Silver preferred
- 8oz Pink Lemonade - fresh squeezed with a bit of strawberry puree. Or one of those frozen cans in the freezer
- Garnish with lemon slice and strawberry slice
- Float a Peeps bunny marshmallow on top

Or go wild and make it a frozen drink.
- Sugar the rim of the glass

23 Hello, friends. Had a busy day…taught this morning, went to an art lesson with my kid and painted what has to be the world’s worst panting in the history of “this is supposed to be easy and mistake proof” art, did final shopping for Easter. I made a cute Easter basket for the kiddo with scalloped tissue paper perfectly placed. And then the cats opened the closet door, pulled all the tissue paper out, ripped it up and left it all over the floor.

What a crummy week. First I had to do taxes. At least it was a smaller payment than usual. Thank heavens for my LLC. Then I had a huge job to do on a test search for a potential customer.

Plus, Her Majesty had to be gotten on the road to Kingsport, TN for our National Specialty. About 10 times worse than getting her ready for a regular show. It took her three tries to leave, a day late. The carburetor on the generator had to be replaced.

And then the awful news about Jewells and Salty's wife. Just horrible.

The dudes getting towed on the tire behind a vehicle reminded me strongly of doing much the same with our son riding on an inflated tube behind our boat about eleven years ago.

Dude was ZOOMIN'! Then he flipped when crossing the boat's wake and went in with all four limbs splayed out. Those memories will have to suffice as he now is father to gSon and gDaughter.

Also heard from our friends whose little boy we took care of for three years - they are adopting a brother and sister pair and are thrilled. A Happy Easter indeed.

83 I'm about to head off to bed, but we just finished watching Knives Out w/ Daniel Craig as (slightly) eccentric private detective Benoit Blanc. I was properly astonished, not least because it is *not* based on a novel but is an original script by its director Rian Johnson. Fairly clued, with a detective who is not presented as a sociopath or having Asperger's or something, and with plenty of plot twists. Very nice work.

Johnson wrote three episodes of Breaking Bad, by the way.

The next pass, I saw ... the mom was taking her turn in the sled.

157 Stacey Abrams has made a number of "personal financial missteps” in her career. Despite a history marked by bill collectors, tax liens, and ethics investigations, the Georgia politician and Democratic Party activist has managed to amass a small fortune – while working most of her career in the not-for-profit sector.

Abrams made so many “mistakes" on her annual state financial disclosures she had to file no fewer than 18 amendments after watchdogs and local media caught major errors and omissions.

After running for statewide office and helping Biden win Georgia in 2020, Abrams almost overnight has become a multimillionaire with a 4,100-square-foot home near Emory University valued at more than $1.4 million and more than $727,000 in stocks and bonds.

174 Yooiks. Somehow I got on the Open Thread and was plowing through comments, until it didn't feel right and I realized I'd somehow closed the ONT tab. Very strange.

Fortunately, there's not a lot of comments to catch up on here. Assuming here is the ONT again!

It's raining buckets again. As it did yesternight. Tomorrow, the kids will be over here, bringing their four dogs to join our Daisy for Easter supper. I foresee some muddy prints by the end of the day. The dogs are all pretty active. Should be a riot.

The house smells like gyros, which MiladyJo has been cooking up today. Son-in-law will be bringing his pita breads and daughter will be making tzatziki.

We forgot to get white eggs to hard-boil and dye. Maybe I'll take a marker and draw some smilies on brown eggs, just because.

Well, they used galvanized iron, made by dipping the steel sheet into molten zinc. Would not surprise me if the zinc contained a little lead, since lead and zinc commonly occur together at the mine.

For that matter, sheet lead used to be used as roofing material. Very durable, but expensive. Commonly found on cathedrals.

Court documents say that Phoenix -- originally named Christian Eriksen -- is a dual US-Norwegian citizen, like his biological mother.

"In a letter that dropped on April 19, 2025 (conveniently giving us a whopping 12 days until inspections start on May 1), Bass and her team of bureaucratic geniuses have decided that LA’s fire hazard zones—now expanded to cover half the city—need to be cleansed of… wait for it… palm trees. You know, those tall, gorgeous symbols of LA that scream "Hollywood" louder than a celebrity meltdown on Sunset?

Oh, and it’s not just palms! Eucalyptus, acacias, and a whole laundry list of other trees that have defined LA’s landscape for decades are on the chopping block too. Why? Because they’re “receptive to embers.” 🙄

So, instead of having a functioning fire department that can, I don’t know, fight fires, Bass wants to turn LA into a concrete desert and extort us into doing her dirty work.
