Mid-Afternoon Blow-Off Thread
Update: Now With More Necrophilia

Outstanding, NYC. Simply outstanding.

Police are searching for a sicko accused of sexually abusing a man's corpse on a Manhattan subway, according to police and sources.

The unidentified accused necrophiliac is sought by the NYPD for allegedly having sex with the dead man on an R train just around 11:45 Tuesday night, police sources said.

He then left the Whitehall Street subway station in lower Manhattan shortly after midnight, sources told The Post.

The deceased man, who has also not yet been identified, is believed to have died of natural causes, sources said.

Investigators do not believe the two knew each other, the sources added.

The person of interest identified by police is a heroin addict, his brother told The Post from his front door in the Bronx Thursday.

His brother said his troubled sibling had been staying with him since he was released from prison a few months ago.

He had been locked up for "a while" -- said his 56-year-old brother, though he could not remember if it was for robbery or assault.

"I haven't seen him in a few days. He started staying out late. He has never done anything like this in his life -- not what they said he did. I don't think that he did that. He's not that type of person," he said.

"They said he took his thing out and put it in the guy's ... yeah I don't think he did that he's not a pervert."

Uh-huh.

Hollywood made $500 million from China last year.

That's 1/18th of what they made in America, roughly $9 billion.

China replaced American movies with Chinese big budget slop about 10 years ago. China wasn't saving anything but the biggest of big movies from making a little less money, like Avatar 2.

The biggest movie in the world right now is a Chinese animated film called Ne Zha 2.

Out of the $1.89 billion it's made so far, roughly $1.82 has come from China.

They do, actually. They have to censor the films and whatnot to be allowed to show them in China.

For example, Finn the black storm trooper in Star Wars had to be edited out of promotional materials. And a lot of our political stuff is edited out.

but China is actually a huge market for Hollywood.

Which is why this is even funnier.

Everyone laughed nat him, and he was humiliated yet again (a daily occurrence for him).

I'm showing my age here, because as late as 7th grade, we still hadn't yet been forced to sit through X-rated sex education classes, so he didn't actually know what a blow job entailed. I have an opposite story: I was a remote worker and asked for a raise. “Well.. your cost of living is so low in rural East Bumfuck, compared to our workers in New Sodom..”

I shot back “The compensation of an employee is capped by their value to the company, and not their own living expenses. Either I’m worth keeping, or I’m not.”

And of course I got the raise.

The Seattle Times announced it this way:

This announcement underscores the truth of gerbil warbeling, and the Seattle Times in its article on this went on to denounce Trump, of course.

Why, Trump's savage budget cuts to NOAA may make it impossible to even identify droughts in the future!

This is especially true of "higher" education. You could still live with a bunch of roomies, buy a sh*t car or electric scooter, but there is pretty much no way to keep up with the inflation of university tuition (excepting not going).

Which is actually one of the things I'm really waiting on Trump to tackle: the rampant increasing price of university tuition. Maybe he can't directly tackle the explosion of administration sizes, but certainly the conspiracy of government backed (and Biden-forgiven) student loans where the schools have little incentive to limit costs.

209 Maybe he can't directly tackle the explosion of administration sizes, but certainly the conspiracy of government backed (and Biden-forgiven) student loans where the schools have little incentive to limit costs.

They're related. The administrative bloat is caused by increasing federal regulations about handling federal money and the services you have to provide in order to stay eligible for that federal money, and the student loans provide an increasing supply of federal money to pay for it.

Get rid of the federal money and colleges will be able to cut the compliance and service administrations, and they'll also have to cut tuition to a level that people can afford without federal student loans.

It'll probably put several universities out of business, and kill towns wherein the university is the main economic driver.

My wife counsels high school kids on college admissions, and anecdotally, she agrees with Hemingway. Much lower interest in the Ivies, especially Columbia. On the flip side, much greater interest among good students in southern schools with "great student life".

Statistically, the Ivies will still attract huge application flow, but she believes other schools are going to attract higher application numbers.

------------------

Problem is, the election and his statement says nothing about racism even if accepting it as true.

1) Trump as "felon" was rejected by everyone on both sides. Liberals hated Trump beyond reason with or without a conviction. Others rejected the trumped up charges as irrelevant.

2) Kamala rejected was not because she was black, but by some because she isn't black and claims to be. Most others rejected her because she was part of the worst administration in history, was a deadbeat in that administration, dodged any sort of primary or convention challenge and blew huge amounts of money on a terrible campaign.

Posted by: Aetius451AD work phone at April 10, 2025 03:08 PM (zZu0s)

WELL, in NYC there used to be 3 different companies running the subways before they were consolidated in to the system we know and love today.

The "letter trains" are the BMT and IND (Brooklyn / Manhattan) line trains. They're bigger (and some are longer) than the "number trains" which were run by IRT.

They're lettered A-Z, with several numbers missing and being re-used, depending on the route.

The numbers are 1-9, same story (right now, there are no 8 or 9 trains).

As a general rule, the number trains run through the better neighborhoods in Manhattan, and the letter trains go farther out in the boroughs.

So to some, it is more desirable to live on a number train line. Although most number trains go up to the bronx and are more crowded and the stations are generally older and shittier.

R train goes from Queens to Manhattan to Brooklyn.

Xi was expecting world-wide support, but all he got from the First World countries was crickets. A fair amount of nonsense about export companies re-directing to the domestic markets, but they're saturated, too. EU President von der Leyen told Xi a day or two ago to settle things with the US.

Turns out the biggest fear in Europe is that the Chinese will get even more desperate and attempt to aggressively undermine what little domestic manufacturing remains in the Continent.

========

I don't think the original Godzilla was greenlit with any intention of appealing to American audiences.

It's EXTREMELY Japanese and concerned with the Japanese ethos in a post-WWII world. It's their ethos manifest in a giant lizard with heavy (but implicit) anti-Americanism flowing through it.

Gamera was violent and destructive in the first film. Then, like Godzilla, he became more friendly over time. In the 1970s films, Gamera was basically a little kids' pet. Little kids that almost always featured a white kid, which seemed obvious to me was designed to appeal to Western audiences. Which was my point above, which not everyone agrees with.

There's something to that, the complaints are overstated and there's always this underlying presumption that everything was really easy in the past. Part of that is just internet memeology where you overstate things insanely to make a point or get a laugh. But its still there, a false presumption.

But things are worse today than we had it when we were kids: the dollar's earning value has been stagnant or gone down for almost every year since Bush the elder was in office. That just means things get more expensive while you don't earn as much.
