Because to most women, the women's locker room is as real to them as a men's locker room: it's not. It's a far away place that they do not actually ever inhabit.
It's prime for messing with because it never actually affects them. They do not care that their "sisterhood" is suffering in the individual because of these policy choices. Those sisters are just not down with the struggle.
If a group of women are willing to make it a cause that Augusta National should be co-ed, even though those women will never, ever golf at Augusta National, then they'll be willing to make co-ed the girls' locker room at the local high school.

You can't even get studies done if there's any possibility that they'll produce the wrong kind of results. There was one recent case of a study being buried when it did produce embarrassing results.

The 9 and 10 year old boys and girls compete against each other and it's a pretty fair competition.
The 11 and 12 year old girls are relatively evenly matched.
But when the 13 and 14 kids match up, the girls usually only win when the dude slips and falls.

I don't think there are any rules at the high school level at least saying girls CANT play on the boys team.
Some girl in my high school signed up for the Freshman football team. She played for a few months before bowing out.
Obviously she was terrible and a bench warmer and was never going to get on the Varsity team (which required try outs), but, you know. They let her play. Sort of.
Of course, all the guys went easy on her in practice.

There's a heat map from a study on compassion and political leanings.
It's two circles with the center being the self and the outer edges being plants/animals. Essentially, the rings outward are meant to represent closeness and distance from the self. So, self to family to neighborhood to city onward with non-human life being the outer edges.
The progressive side is very heavily weighted towards the outer rings. The conservative side is very heavily weighted towards the inner rings.

When I was in high school, the guys in the grade above me were absolute maniacs. Just disgusting maniacs. One day before baseball practice, dude takes a piss in a Coke can. His buddy comes out a few minutes later and asks if he can take a sip. The guy nodded in disbelief at how perfectly this played out. One sip, guy is spitting like crazy. Other guy starts cracking up and the thirsty dude who just drank his piss gave him a high five for getting him.

From what I recall, the 6 foot rule was the distance an Unmasked Person sneezing our coughing needed to be clear for droplets to not reach another person to any extent.
So 20 seconds later this was applied to the masked, showing how much sense there all was.
I didn't go shopping a lot during that time, but I was always amused at my reflex to pull the mask open to sneeze or cough.

Obviously when we put the pads on and started sweating, the slippery shampoo mixed with the piss smell was pretty atrocious.
I never did that to anyone though, I didn't find it very funny.
