I think this is the way of the future. America is over-stored, and once you get past the queasiness of demolishing a new store, you have a large footprint for a high rise, with developed roads, plentiful adjacent parking, and (often) Metro access.
Abandoned malls would make ideal Gen X retirement communities.

I scarfed my father's bp monitor when he passed in 2003. What the hell, I'd had my share of angioplasties by then.
My father's heart problems started in '85, so the monitor was probably bot shortly after that. Runs on two D size batteries.
I'm still using it, just noticed fairly recently it still had the plastic film over the red led read outs.

I've heard that, and of course he famously failed the NY bar exam multiple times.
Which is why, whenever anyone says it was a hit, when his plane went down, I think it's much easier to believe he just wasn't that good a pilot, and made a dumb decision to fly.

Something I've always been impressed about Trump is how much his children like him. He divorced twice and yet the kids still love and respect their dad. Certainly not always the case. Often kids side with mom and there is an issue with Dad. Also, I don't know what iron-clad nondisclosure agreements he has with his ex-wives but they don't bad mouth him and I know Ivana is dead but Marla seems to be very close to him still.

IDGAF about the rest of the world as long as its not made our problem in some way. For the USA, there isn't a magic number that is the right population, not having exactly replacement rates and a slow downward trend doesn't matter much, however a deep decline in birthrate is a problem that I think we have an interest in avoiding. The system needs more young healthy working people than old sick people. Especially when the old and sick can vote.

Ahh, memories. The mall was recently demolished and the owners were making some of the things from the building available. I managed to get a couple of food court trays and the parking number sign from where I used to park my car. That last one is hanging in my office so people can wonder WTF it is.

At the little convenience store where I bought the ice cream there was a slim, attractive young man who was probably in his early 20's or late teens wearing a yarmulke. Cabela's is a great store. Got a down vest there that is the top of the line. Bass Pro is a much worse place, so they bought Cabela's and are turning all of them into Bass Pro shops. They dropped a lot of the quality stuff, like the down vests.
