19 After Judith Durham died a few years ago, lots of videos on YTube started showing up in my feed. Fine and all but I never listened to her that much, if at all. She had a wonderful voice. I was 11 and the music was great and getting better. 65 - 75, the absolute greatest 10 years. Still some great stuff the next 5 but disco started filtering in. Then metal came along and I was done with radio.
A caveat, if I may. Tack a couple years earlier onto those 10 years. Those who were around know why.

73 Got the brake pads and bearing/hub work done on the car yesterday. It took a big bite out of my credit card, but the first item was really due and the other had to be done. The drone I could hear from 30-50 mph is gone. It's not so much that the Buick feels like a new car. It always has. Now, though, it feels as though I just bought it.

It helps when you clean and detail the interior, including cleaning the dirty rubber floor mats!

There is a different look at the weather and the mid west will be above normal and the east coast area will be below normal for most the April. The west will be dry, as expected, not helping with the dryness of the south west. Snow pack melt will of course help. So living in the east I expect to keep the plants indoors for much of the month. Still flooded... but, we were able to take my truck out and get some groceries and booze. The road our house is off of still has standing water on it, but only about a foot, maybe two feet deep.

And the trash... good lord the trash it's leaving behind. I discovered washed up down by the road; a cooler with plastic containers and lids, shoes, buckets and a lot of cans, plastic bottles, Styrofoam containers, etc. Probably enough trash to fill 3-4 50 gallon trashbags.

We're fine. Up on a knoll. Flood waters were never an issue at the house. But getting out is another matter.

The floodwaters basically surround us and covered the road we live off of at two points. Deep enough (until yesterday) to prohibit travel.

If it doesn't rain too much over the next week - 10 days the water will all be gone.

A lot of it did work alright, I guess. But I do remember a big web project happening. I was no way involved but would hear the details. Perfectly functioning web pages would be sent to India for adjustments and come back all messed up.

The the type of application I’m working on will have a frontend (UI), middleware (authentication, security), and backend (database, cloud, etc), this would typically have specialized teams of developers working on each component, you would also generally have a team that would work on graphical elements, ai can help you on all aspects of development.

AI is definitely a force multiplier and game changer.

Some of the videos and photos from the flooding here in Kentucky are heartbreaking. Whole towns are under water. Even those not on or near the Ohio River.

It's the topology. The whole area is littered with cave systems that can stretch for miles. When they fill up with excess water it just begins to puddle on the surface... and if there's enough rain those puddles grow to cover square miles.

And... no FEMA to be seen. I blame that on Beshear. IIRC the governor is supposed to request the aid. He won't do anything that makes Trump look good.

It's the opposite, really. If 80% of your grunt work is done for you, you now have 80% of your time free to sort out other problems. Even if some of those problems arise from the thing that saved you that time in the first place.

It's like building cars by hand because assembly robots sometimes break down or lose their calibration.

You can also use ai to correct syntax, punctuation, logic, you can bounce ideas off of it.

The problem is that, eventually, people stop training in the things you need to sort out your other problems. It becomes more and more expensive to try and hire one of the remaining people who can sort out your problems. And then one day you just can't.

160 As long as you're using AI as a tool to help you do your programming, it probably is a help. But a lot of folks today are already using frameworks and such, where they're really not in control of the programming and they don't know how to trace in a program and such. Those people using AI do NOT benefit from AI - it just gives them more unknown goo to wade through. The vast majority of "programmers," in my experience, are not - they couldn't hand-build a car to save their life if the robots break down.

Frameworks have been used for decades, all frameworks do is take a lot of code lines and functionalize them.

I'm using tailwinds in the frontend and a couple lines of tailwind code is just a wrapper for a shit ton of CSS/html code.

If that's an actual advertisement, the company is potentially in trouble with the FTC regarding "Truth in Advertising" laws.

And it won't matter if the AI got it wrong, the company used the AI, the company published the advertisement, therefore the company is responsible for making a fraudulent claim.

More people need to go after stuff like this and then maybe management might wake up to the fact that there is no actual intelligence in "AI", and it's a language model that crafts words that sound plausibly good, but it is patently not a fact model, and thus should not be relied on for accuracy or truth.
