"Womens'" Pool Finals Features Two Dudes Playing Each Other For Title of Best "Woman" Player in the World

Piers Morgan has slammed the Ultimate Pool Group after two transgender women contested the final of a professional women's event in Wigan on Sunday night, calling the situation 'preposterous' and accusing the sport of 'cheating bulls***'. The broadcaster's comments came after Harriet Haynes defeated Lucy Smith 8-6 in the final of a Women's Pro Series event, one of eight events on the Ultimate Pool Group's 2025 women's circuit. Both players are transgender, resulting in a wave of criticism on social media - most notably from former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies, who described the event as 'b****y ridiculous and grossly wrong in every way' and said sports 'hate their female players to do this'.
And if you think men have an advantage over women in billiards, wait till you see the records being smashed in"girls'" track and field.
Sharing an X post from Reduxx Magazine, which claimed 'two men' were facing each other 'for a women's championship title', Morgan added: 'Why anyone supports this cheating bulls*** is utterly beyond me.' The tournament, held at Robin Park Leisure Centre in Wigan, was streamed live on UltimatePool.tv and across social media. Haynes' path to the title included victories over Megan Proctor and Mary Talbot, while Smith reached the final by knocking out Kirsty-Lee Davies and Danielle Randle. This is not the first time Haynes has been at the centre of controversy. In November 2023, she was handed a walkover victory in the Women's Champion of Champions final in Prestatyn after opponent Lynne Pinches refused to play, citing fairness concerns. Pinches later told TalkTV: 'Whenever you play a transgender player, even if you win, it doesn't make any difference because in your heart, you know it's unfair. 'This is a category advantage, being biologically male and playing against females, gives you a clear category advantage. 'Every time I play a transgender player, I think about it before, during and after the match, about how unfair it is and how this is a level I can't reach. 'I watch some of the shots they play, and I think females don't play these shots down the rails like this and they don't clear up like this. They have a longer reach, a lot of them are taller than us. 'Women have been silenced because of fear of being transphobic, that is why people don't speak out about this subject. It's not a gender issue, this is a fairness issue.'
I keep saying this but if these "girls" sports are going to allow men to compete, then they should be shut down, and girls (and men in wigs) should just compete against men.
As Guy Benson quipped on Twitter, oh look -- that thing that never happens has happened again. In one sense, though, this story from Portland, Oregon qualifies as a success story. What else can one call an effort by which a last-place finisher in track meets at the junior varsity level goes on to dominate at the varsity level? Of course, that's not difficult to achieve when a biological male switches to compete against high-school girls:And that's not the first time this season that a biological male has beaten female athletes in Portland. Fox News also notes that Ada Gallagher dominated girls in two races last month:
Lia Rose, who reportedly used to compete as Zachary, won the high jump at the Portland Interscholastic League Varsity Relays with a height of 4 feet, 8 inches, beating the second-place finisher by two inches. According to athletic.net, while competing against JV boys May 3, 2023, Zachary Rose finished 11th out of 11 competitors with a jump of 4 feet, 6 inches. ... In 2024, Lia mostly competed against JV boys, with a top finish of second place and a personal record of 5 feet even.
Lia's victory comes roughly two weeks after Ada Gallagher, a trans track athlete in the Portland area, blew out the competition. Gallagher, a state champion last year, finished at 57.62 in the 400 meters, with Franklin High School's Kinnaly Souphanthong coming in second at 1:05.72. Gallagher's teammate, Quinnan Schaefer, was behind Souphanthong at 1:07.13. In the 200-meter race, Gallagher finished in first place at 25.76, followed by teammate Addyson Skyles at 27.31.

Yes. Dred Scott decision made it impossible for political branches to fix the problem. Judges are not and cannot be arbiters of policy because they suck royally at it. Legal and adversary training does little to actually develop management skills and so judges end up relying on special masters to do it which are unaccountable cat paws for the judges themselves. Every time judges, including the Supreme Court, wade into management decisions on policy, they end up making things worse.
E.g. are our urban schools better after having judges run them for nearly 40-50 years on deseg orders? Are our prisons and general public safer after judges have tried running prisons and jails? Etc. Etc.

There is a unifying connection between two seemingly unrelated societal changes: the rise inAI, and transgenderism.
What cold the connection be?

Women's sports are, generally, pointless from an athletic standpoint. Women can be good at just about any activity, but they will not be the best or elite. That's why women's sports are subsidized. There's no demand for it otherwise. It can be nice to have, but basically nobody cares.
If none of those special rules and subsidies are actually going to women, just shut it down completely.

i can fully appreciate that argument. being taller gives you more angles to potentially play AND longer arms let's you get to shots without the crutch, which gives better control of the shot.

Women's sports is very niche. It's a very small percentage of people in high school, essentially, with some small spillover into college and pro sports.
Our trolls are right when they say it's about just handful of cases here and there. It's really a paltry number compared to the population.
However, it's not us pushing it. It's them pushing it with us just pushing back in this vainglorious hope that because we're defending a womens' only space women as a whole will notice and care and appreciate it.
Well, the vast, vast majority of women are not actually in those spaces. They're not part of them. They're as happy to fuck with them as they are to fuck with male only spaces because they aren't actually in them.
This is how I got the point of complete apathy on this issue.

I coach little league. About 10-11 years old is when you start seeing separation in ability to the point where it is potentially dangerous to have girls on the same team.
But boy was it awesome to see the boys get struck out by our girl pitcher lobbing in some rainbow pitches and then get getting the business by his teammates.

I recently watched a 6th and 7th grade county wide boys basketball championship. You know the one. Local coaches that might've played basketball in high school, one parent trying to make all the practices but sometimes there's a haircut, etc.
I have no doubt those boys, and countless other no-name county-level teams around the nation, would win against WNBA and Olympic womens teams. Those young men were fast as heck and NEVER stopped running. The women might score 20 points or so, but they'd be standing in place utterly exhausted by halftime.

There's significant overlap between women's sports and the locker room convention and while there are very few total women athletes at the to of their game being beaten by men, I'm pretty sure there's a lot more teenage girls who are made very uncomfortable that the creepy dude who she rejected last year has suddenly declared he's a girl and gets to see her change during gym class.

I strongly suspect collusion in NCAA women's basketball and in the WNBA to keep out men faking being women. Few watch those games now. Many fewer would watch if 6' 10" fake women are scoring all the points, blocking a lot of shots, and outrunning the real women on fast breaks. It would almost literally be child's play for the fake women due to the slightly smaller ball used by the women. (The women use the same hoop size as men, 18'' diameter. And the same hoop height, 10'.)

that said, i just looked up the record back when i legit lifted in HS. I wasn't power lifting, and wasn't actually lifting all that much. I quit, not maxed - end of class period so i could have gone higher, at 365lb on a deadlift. the record for that year was 458lb.

There's significant overlap between women's sports and the locker room convention and while there are very few total women athletes at the to of their game being beaten by men, I'm pretty sure there's a lot more teenage girls who are made very uncomfortable that the creepy dude who she rejected last year has suddenly declared he's a girl and gets to see her change during gym class.

I can't find the link right now, but girls have already been betrayed by schools on this. A group of them did not want to undress in front of a fake-girl schoolmate in the locker room and at least one of them was ordered to take off her clothes in the locker room on the spot. School admins had no sympathy for these budding young bigotesses. I don't think there's been any followup on whether the parents intend to throw out the school board -- I'm guessing not.

I don't follow the sport, but I've seen claims that women are better ultra-runners when it gets to ridiculous distances, like 200 miles.

To be fair, Heinlein nearly died during the late sixties, early 70's from a blocked carotid artery. Explains his worst novel, I Will Fear No Evil.
Somewhere along the late 50's and early 1960's Heinlein decided to use his art to send a message which affected his story telling. His first abortive novel, To Us the Living aka Variable Star or somesuch is a prime example of bad art.
Some of it was good--Starship Troopers or Mistress but most of it was bad.
