"Penguins" queue up for grifting season.

A fisherman's greatest weapon is patience. Patience and bait. Patience, bait, and a nearly fanatical devotion to the pope are a fisherman's greatest weapons.

Guardian dog is given a World's Best Boss morning licking. Boy I miss the 80s.

Petting and stroking a spotted moray eel, for some reason. At least it looks like a spotted moray eel to me.

Parenting.

Puppies on a slide. Raccoon in a drop-tube, which is an amusement ride he just made up. Doggo uses subway stairs for a game of Self-Fetch.

Disabled dog enjoys the beach.

Border collie herds a golden.

I brought a fren over for Thanksgiving!

Baby likes the new glasses and boy is he a ladykiller now.

Ruffpunzel.

The phrase ‘to curry favour’ has nothing to do either with the Indian dish or favours. ‘Curry’ here means ‘to rub down, stroke, or comb a horse’ and ‘favour’ comes from ‘Fauvel’, the name of a horse king from a medieval French satire that was highly susceptible to flattery.

I don't recognize the breed. But if it's a herding dog, or that trait is dominant, that's not surprising behavior. A friend's dog did that, without being trained, except he would pile all the toys in his doggie bed. He'd be all verklempt if his toys were in different rooms in the house and not all herded together.

88 To The American People:

For decades, Japan and other nations have been taking advantage of the United States.

The saga continues unabated as we defend the Persian Gulf, an area of only marginal significance to the United States for its oil supplies, but one upon which Japan and the others are almost totally dependent. Why are these nations not paying the United States for the human lives and billions of dollars we are losing to protect their interests? Saudi Arabia, a country whose very existence is in the hands of the United States, last week refused to allow us to use their mine sweepers (which are, sadly, far more advanced than ours) to police the Gulf. The world is laughing at America’s politicians as we protect ships we don’t own, carrying oil we don’t need, destined for allies who won’t help.

Over the years, the Japanese, unimpeded by the huge costs of defending themselves (as long as the United States will do it for free), have built a strong and vibrant economy with unprecedented surpluses. They have brilliantly managed to maintain a weak yen against a strong dollar.

cont.

Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at April 07, 2025 09:37 PM (8JosV)

89 This, coupled with our monumental spending for their, and others, defense, has moved Japan to the forefront of world economies.

Now that the tides are turning and the yen is becoming strong against the dollar, the Japanese are openly complaining and, in typical fashion, our politicians are reacting to these unjustified complaints.

It’s time for us to end our vast deficits by making Japan, and others who can afford it, pay. Our world protection is worth hundreds of billions of dollars to these countries, and their stake in their protection is far greater than ours.

Make Japan, Saudi Arabia, and others pay for the protection we extend as allies. Let’s help our farmers, our sick, our homeless by taking from some of the greatest profit machines ever created — machines created and nurtured by us. “Tax” these wealthy nations, not America. End our huge deficits, reduce our taxes, and let America’s economy grow unencumbered by the cost of defending those who can easily afford to pay us for the defense of their freedom. Let’s not let our great country be laughed at anymore.

Sincerely,

Donald J. Trump

94 Mary Cloggenstein just gets excited about protecting children of coler from Trump and Musk and his band of fascists. Spelling mistakes are due to passion, not a sign of low IQ and psych meds.

I just read the full decision (It's dubbed Trump vs J.G.G if you search).

ACB joined in the dissent, but only in two parts of it. So, sort of weaseling and one foot in, one foot out. The wise Latina wrote the dissent, and then Jackson wrote a separate one, which was just Orange Man Really Bad, and Court majority go along with Orange Man, so Court Bad and Orange too.

So it looks as though he's going to start more-or-less charging Japan for our defense services by adjusting our trade agreements with them. Well, we'll see.

As for Saudi Arabia, I'm not sure I get the game. Make them pay up in some way if they don't let us use their minesweepers for starters? And wtf, how do they have more advanced minesweepers than us?! I mean, I get us having lousy equipment given the obstacle course military contractors have to get through in order to produce a thing, but where did the Saudis get the good ones?
