So Anthony Fauci and his buddies are responsible for me getting this death sentence:
Doctors across the US are reporting an alarming health trend in the wake of the Covid pandemic. Since about 2021, they have been noticing rare and unusual cancers in patients who shouldn't fit the bill - many of them young and without any family history of disease. And they're coming down with obscure forms of the disease that typically affect seniors in their 70s and 80s, including hard to pronounce ones like cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and lethal cancer of the bile ducts. https://tinyurl.com/AnthonyFauci CausedMyCancer Posted by: Teresa in Fort Worth, Texas - Ace of Spades Ladies Brigade, plucky comic relief at March 28, 2025 10:04 PM (SRRAx) 14

The painting couple are sweet.
I saw a similar "hold my beer" moment after one of my maples was hit by lightning. The "monkey-man" went up the remaining trunk with a chainsaw tied to his waist, pulled a ladder up, put it in the crook of a branch, and extended it past the burnt area to reach the more-or-less intact top and cut it down. I couldn't watch most of the process because it set my teeth on edge. It's my Last night of vacation. I did absolutely nothing, which was the whole point. Some models of the Field Marshall tractor have an option for starting it with a 12 gauge shotgun shell. Produced in England 1945-57.
Posted by: Modern Farmer at March 28, 2025 10:24 PM (G5+As) I have seen those in action. The normal method of starting a Field Marshal was by hand cranking. They had a big flywheel on the side with a flip-out handle knob. The rim of the flywheel had a spiral groove in it that had about six turns on it. You picked up a little lever with a small wheel on the end of it, and placed the wheel in the groove nearest to you. This was the compression release. With the lever engaged in the groove, the engine was (relatively) easy to turn by hand. So you engaged the compression release, cranked the engine, increasing speed with each turn, until the wheel fell out of the groove, and the engine started. I tried it, and it worked. OSINTdefender @sentdefender 8h Satellite imagery captured today by @MT_Anderson shows that there are now at least 5 B-2 “Spirit” Long-Range Strategic Stealth Bombers at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, with 5 seen on the tarmac and possibly 4 others inside of clamshell-style hangers specifically meant for B-2 “Spirits” deployed to Diego Garcia, totaling a possible 9 stealth bombers at the base, which is nearly half of the U.S. Air Force’s active inventory of B-2s. Just like the same people running things today. The twink-speak of the Brit cavalry officers came directly from their commander Lord Cardigan. All of those quoted statements were basically quotes from him. Yes, the hero of the Charge of the Light Brigade sounded like upper-crust Elmer Fudd. I learned this fact by reading the novels Flashman and Flashman at the Charge, by George MacDonald Fraser. Flashman didn't like Lord Cardigan for several reason, but his speech pattern (to our antihero) was one of them as it was annoying.

She is beside herself that I might not be around for the entire family - especially her children. Which is why I was never going to say anything to her about the shot. The story of the Charge of the Light Brigade is even more ridiculously English the more you dig into it. The big reason the Charge was so disastrously futile is that it was supposed to be supported by a charge from the Heavy Brigade, another cavalry unit, on a different line of attack. They refused to go.
Why did they refuse? Because the commanders of the two brigades were brothers in law, and had hated each other for years, both refusing to even speak to each other, ever. An after the fact inquiry found that the overall commander was the one at fault, since he should have known better than to have ever asked thise two men to work together. BT devices can only connect to one thing at a time. And most of them are temperamental at best about connection switching, Apple’s fixed that for the case where they make everything involved (pause YouTube on the Mac and hit play on Spotify on an iPad and the AirPods seamlessly switch) but the BT standards body hasn’t seen fit to make capability like that standard. It probably doesn't help my mood that I spent a couple of hours this afternoon trying on wigs because I am slowly losing my hair on this medication.
And the beautiful urn that I ordered for my cremains arrived in the mail a couple of days ago (I didn't want to leave that decision up to my family - I lo e Paul cearly, but he is a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to spending money 😂😂😂 ![]() The worst thing is, I'm having a big ol' pity party over here, and I don't drink, so I can't drown my sorrows (and the chemo I am on raises phosphorus levels, so I have had to quit drinking Cokes, which is my one vice!). On the bright side, I decided that I am going to start having flowers delivered to me regularly from here on out, because why not? Really pretty arrangements from a local florist. 😊💕 Posted by: Teresa in Fort Worth, Plucky Comic Relief, AoS Ladies Brigade - Eat the Cheesecake, Buy the Yarn. at March 28, 2025 11:38 PM (SRRAx) 251

I have to listen to something while sleeping a lot of times. So I took to listening to streaming podcasts. Old time Radio. Dragnet, Gunsmoke, Johnny Dollar, Space Patrol, there’s a gazillion of them.
The “mid Atlantic accent” was required in the early early days of cinema and radio. Especially female roles. Super annoying. Anyone trying to imitate a southern accent is also really bad. A variant is the dumb hillbilly. The New York twang is also pretty grating - Gracie Allen kind of thing, on steroids . Nobody talks like that any longer, seems like the Boston accent is no more. 205 Charge of the light brigade, and the joy of fighting in Crimea.
You can read Flashman at the Charge for a pretty accurate historical novel for that period. Um, up to a point. -------- "Aunt Sarah" preferred stinging-nettles to the birch?? -------- According to Flashman, the charge went after its actual destination, as opposed to the one it was supposed to, was because he pointed to the battery objective and said "That way!" Cardigan then misread the direction and took him to mean directly down the valley, not at the battery on the side. Old Flashy got his comeuppance for it by being forced to go on the charge by Cardigan, and joined the action against his will. An excellent history of the events leading up to the charge, and of course the charge itself. The page tweeted above is from this book, and the circumstances read like dry farce - a movie akin to The Death Of Stalin would do it justice. ========= "It is magnificent, but it is not war." ------ Believe it or not, The UK & France were bailing out the Ottoman Empire against Russia. Russia was putting the squeeze on the Sick Man or Europe, and there was some concern in London & Paris that the Russkis might roll up the Ottomans & gain 100% control of the Black Sea & get unrestrained access to the Med, thereby upsetting the Balance of Power that had stood in Europe since 1815. The first time we saw it, I had bought seats to take our middle 2 girls to see it, but they were invited to a murder mystery birthday party for one of their friends, and they were crushed that they were going to miss it (they were about 9 or 10 at the time; Rebecca hadn't been born yet). So we treated 2 friends to their tickets who wouldn't have been able to afford them, and we all had a grand time. The second time we saw it, it was playing in San Antonio and coincided with our annual Christmas trip to visit family, so the 2 middle girls had no choice. Oh, my goodness - the bitching they both did because they didn't want to see the stupid Lion King! Paul told them to zip it and indulge their mother as a Christmas present. We went, they both loved it, Rebecca was enthralled, but she was only 2 or 3 years old, so this will be like a first time for her. To counter this, Britain spent a lot of effort mucking about in Southwest Asia, trying to grab chunks of the Ottoman and Russian empires. Throw in that Britain wanted to have a presence in the Black Sea, so they decided to "help" the Turks, who had a dispute with Russia. Any resemblance to current events is purely coincidental. Posted by: ScaryMary at March 29, 2025 12:46 AM (wX56x) Incidentally, if you are passing through Utah on I-15, and want to avoid the horrendous traffic on the Salt Lake to Payson stretch, there is a string of backroads that connect Toole in the north with Holden in the south. 36 from Tooele to Eureka, 6 from Eureka to Delta, and 50 from Delta to Holden. There is a road from Fillmore to Delta, too. Basically parallels the I-15 alignment, on the other side of the Uinta mountain range. Lonely two-lane blacktop, and you can make good time. Very scenic, too. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at March 29, 2025 12:57 AM (8zz6B) 407
Evening, Derak. Lake Pend O'reille. I remember the woodticks. And the submarine stories as a kid.
Posted by: scampydog at March 29, 2025 12:37 AM Hey!. That lake is a fright. I think 1700 feet deep. Sub testing at the south end. The east side mountains are truly no man's land. Sheer cliffs. Virtually uninhabited. Black out at night. Went on a couple of search/rescue ops in that area both at night. One was a poor drug addled young gal who met up with a stranger who took her to a remote cabin on the far east side. Never found her until a year later. Murdered but a bear digested the remains. Thats what was found. Other one was a hunter. Just plumb walked off a cliff and fell 1000 feet down. Landed at the shoreline. That ended up a boat recovery. No way down from the top. Well, one way, I guess. Don't like that area much. Posted by: Derak at March 29, 2025 12:59 AM (4ET+6) 408

Don't like that area much. Posted by: Derak at March 29, 2025 12:59 AM (4ET+6) Sheer thousand-foot cliffs, plus a 1700 foot deep lake sounds like terrain created by faulting. "Sheer thousand-foot cliffs, plus a 1700 foot deep lake sounds like terrain created by faulting"
We get the occasional quake here, but they are mild. If you are correct I'll bet some day we get a doozy outta nowhere. Bam. Over. Of you ever read stories about the glacial period and lake Missoula, which covered from western Montana to Spokane, it's a real eye opener. J Harlan Betz was an early 30s geologist that came up with the theory that a large lake covered the region. All the lakes around here are remnants of that huge sea. He postulated that ice dams routinely built up and broke apart toward the end of the ice age, and every time they broke apart, the water scoured the earth with incredible torrents that carved out the eastern Washington basin and created what's now callled the channeled scab lands. He mapped it all over the course of his career, his theory was scoffed at. In 1976, they (NASA. I forget) got the first satellite view of the area from space. His hand mapping was nearly identical to the photos. He was subsequently awarded highest honors by the royal geological society of London. Lake Missoula is considered fact. Posted by: JQ at March 29, 2025 01:21 AM (rdVOm) Their automotive department is limited is scope, but they usually beat all the others on the price of oil, and batteries. And one other thing they have, a real el-cheapo car stereo. Dual, a zombie brand from Chy-nah, makes this little car stereo receiver, no tape transport, no CD transport, but AM-FM, Bluetooth, and USB, 4 channels. For under 30 bucks. I have bought 4 of them now. They work great. Only 2 inches deep, and weigh a few ounces, so they don't need massive mounting supports. Mostly, I use them to play music mp3"s recorded onto thumb drives, but the tuners work fine. Sometimes they sell for 25 dollars alone in a box, other times, $35 with 4 speakers in a box. Just saw a clip from Rush Hour 2.
The premise is Chris Tucker has seduced a woman but not had sex with her - just making out, and when he wakes up he sees her removing a wig and assumes she is a man, but she's just a woman with a shaved head. He is upset and threatens to punch her if she is actually a guy. And...this was a big budget hollywood movie in 2001. You'd get cancelled for that now. Of course Tucker, aka Ruby Rod, seducing a *woman* seems somewhat doubtful... Posted by: 18-1 at March 29, 2025 01:32 AM (t0Rmr) 436

Some of the pronghorn in the high rock canyon area mix with open range cattle. They’re very skittish and dart away even at long range. JQ,
My friend had a 50% off and a little more on her two orders. She ordered similar, just got chicken tenders instead of meatballs. But everything else was the same. It was her first order. I had a friend I mentioned (who passed away, don't start Rick) and she had sent me two orders before. I love the fact that they are so freezer stable in their cute little suction-sealed packages. I have a small top freezer so it works out to be the right size order. My friend, on the other hand, owns her own home, with two freezers. She just threw the boxes into the freezer. Lucky her. I'm getting ready to have an everything bagel. Then I have to make some Coleman's mustard, adding honey instead of water. I bought some pre-cooked chicken tenders on a dare from a company from which I've bought their egglant rollitini and it's good and cheesey (in a good way) and buying it is a hell of a lot easier and cheaper than making it. I had a small piece earlier and it wasn't at all. Some Coleman's Honey Mustard with a dash of Smoked Jalapeno Tabasco ought to do the dipping trick.
