The Audacity: Hillary Clinton, Who Kept Classified Information on an Unsecured Server to Hide Her Communications from Congress and the Public, Attacks Trump's Team for Using Signal to Communicate

The absolute audacity.

Hillary Clinton lambasted the Trump administration over its Signal chat leak and repeatedly called its policies "dumb" in a blistering essay published Friday in the New York Times.

The former Democratic presidential candidate and secretary of state assailed President Donald Trump and his team as careless and stupid over its short tenure in office so far.

"It's not the hypocrisy that bothers me; it's the stupidity. We're all shocked -- shocked! -- that President Trump and his team don't actually care about protecting classified information or federal record retention laws," Clinton wrote.

This drunken Satanic sow illegally used her own server so that her communications would be protected from exposure by records retention laws. This was a secret server until someone discovered it -- she did not disclose it so that the federal government could copy all of these messages. She did not disclose it so that people fililng FOIAs would even know what records to request.

And she sits her in Her Satanic Hubris and accuses others of using Signal to "avoid records retention" laws.

By the way, in case you don't know this, Biden approved the use of Signal for communication precisely because it was more unhackable than the easily-hackable federal systems.

"But we knew that already. What's much worse is that top Trump administration officials put our troops in jeopardy by sharing military plans on a commercial messaging app and unwittingly invited a journalist into the chat. That's dangerous. And it's just dumb."

...

Clinton boasted in the Times essay that she employed "smart" power as the first secretary of state under President Barack Obama.

"The Trump approach is dumb power. Instead of a strong America using all our strengths to lead the world and confront our adversaries, Mr. Trump's America will be increasingly blind and blundering, feeble and friendless," Clinton wrote.

Among Clinton's complaints were the Trump administration's gutting of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), closing embassies and consulates, and layoffs within the government hitting intelligence agencies.

Clinton hammered away at the theme that Trump's team was unintelligent, calling various Trump administration moves "not smart," "dumb power," "dumb," and "dumb and dangerous."

Cirrhosis isn't just a river in Egypt.

Unrelated: Justice Roberts has finally asked a district court judge to respond to Trump's demand to explain where the judge thinks his authority to usurp the president's sole authority to conduct foreign policy comes from.

Roberts ordered the court to respond by Tuesday.

You can blow up Trump's response by clicking on it. Or this link might work.

Because of the temporary-ness. They're designed to be rare and a pause on action.

Preliminary injunctions, which are appealable, have much longer timelines.

Now, there's room to disagree about the lack of appealability on TROs, but that's just how the system currently works right now. Alito, in his dissent a few weeks ago, obviously disagrees. But it was a dissent, not a ruling opinion.

_____

TROs are appealable, technically, but appeals judges usually defer deciding whether a stay should remain in place until there's a preliminary injunction. The TRO is usually done quickly, with minimal briefing or written decisions. The idea is that the TRO will remain in place for a few weeks until the PI can be more thoroughly decided. Then that decision gets appealed.

75 Oh, and a practical matter on TROs being non-appealable:

SCOTUS doesn't want to bother with every TRO that comes along.

They don't want to be roped into every little fight and have to consider things that lower courts should be considering.

But if SCOTUS starts responding directly to TROs, then it opens that door.

If SCOTUS is listening on an appeal to a TRO, then that's actually a much more significant step than people are making this.

Per the COnstitution, as least as I understand it, Congress creates all the inferior courts. Only the Supreme Court is a constitutional body.

And thus it seems that the jurisdiction and rules of procedures should be entirely creations of Congress, which could change them any time it wanted to.

Does Congress set these rules? Does the Supreme Court have some authority over setting these rules?

98 The judiciary is about as popular as dental surgery with the American public. They have way overstepped their constitutional boundaries and have little credibility left. Their power according to the constitution is largely zero. Most of the power they do have comes from Congress, who by the way should get off their asses and get to work.

This notion, which cowards like John Roberts and his liege have let go on for too long, that a bunch of unelected judges can steal power, not just from the president but from the people who elect him, must stop lest it undermine our republic. Every single major issue revolving around our protections afforded by The Bill of Rights has been subverted by the courts. They are the last vestige of the unelected bureaucracy who has brought our country close to ruin.

I say, ignore them. Ignore their feckless rulings and subversive fiats until they decide to take a true constitutional role.

And don’t be naïve. She’s eyeing the 2028 Democratic Party nomination.

It’s a comeback nearly a decade in the making. Ever since losing the 2016 election, the Clintons have been exiled to the political wilderness — just another relic from a long-forgotten era. Indeed, in an age of #MeToo and ideological purity, the Clintons were always a bad fit.

They were like the creepy old guy in the nightclub. Everyone else is 30 years younger, whereas the Clintons were still rocking bellbottom jeans and sideburns:

Which flied in the face of Humphrey's Executor, at least the common perception of how it worked.

It was originally a decision to protect "independent" agencies from executive interference (makes me want to vomit), but it first expanded from the original scope of the FCC to include most agencies for a few decades and has been paring back for the last few decades.

I think the caselaw protects something like 3 agencies now. It might be 4.

And the Solicitor General sent a letter to SCOTUS telling them that they're looking to overturn Humphrey's completely.

The circuit decision won't expand Humphrey's, it says directly.

The nearly half-billion-dollar penalty ordered by the trial judge initially threatened to trigger a financial crisis for Trump. But a New York appeals court sharply reduced the amount of the bond he had to post to avoid immediate enforcement of the verdict. Trump is now asking that same court to toss out the verdict entirely.

During oral arguments on Thursday, some members of the five-judge appeals court panel suggested that New York Attorney General Tish James had overstepped by using the particular New York fraud statute she used to bring the case against Trump

You sent text, pictures, gifs to your oomfies. It’s not a platform with admins or user-level controls.

You are incorrect. There is no such thing as a "mobile SCIF." A SCIF is air-gapped and on it's own intranet. Secret or Top Secret data is supposed to be isolated from the World Wide Web.

That was whole scandal about Hillary Clinton: she had people jump the air-gap, print documents and strip-out the portion control markings. B!tch should be in prison.

Therefore, joy exists in her campaign, and will fill the land when she rules it!

How the hell is "Smart Power" supposed to be any different from any diplomatic style that's ever existed since human societies first came into conflict with each other? Here's the wiki definition:

"the strategic use of diplomacy, persuasion, capacity building, and the projection of power and influence in ways that are cost-effective and have political and social legitimacy"

Sorry for the delay in answering, but I had to leave earlier. We're talking past each other.

What you're calling a mobile SCIF is a trailer or plywood building. It's not really mobile once it's in place.

I was talking about the cell phones. You can't have a cell phone in a SCIF.

I think this was the National Security Team at the White House. They already have SCIFs available.

I'm pretty confident that Goldberg got included within the chat by means of subterfuge. This is a Deep State op to keep them from using end-to-end encrypted text messaging.
