Going through my U2 CD's and listened to 'Joshua Tree' while driving to work. Great album. For a decent stretch, they didn't put out a bad album. For me, it was from 'Boy' to 'Zooropa'. But alas, I'm a Mariners fan, the team with the ownership making bank from yearly profits instead of investing a normal portion of profits back into the team to build a true winner. With only a middle-level of gross revenue last year compared to other teams. M's ownership made the second highest net profit returned to the owners in the last 2 years, at least.
*sigh*
Still, I enjoy watching baseball. Guess that is just one more reason they call me a Moron, in addition to being a regular reader here.

Yes, I put a lightning Rod up on the house... Steel Pole that was 20 ft taller than the house, used rubber from old tires between it and the house... and grounded it well...
Have no idea if it ever did any good, but sure helped my piece of mind.

Most lightening protection schemes are to protect against voltages indused by nearby strikes, as opposed to direct strikes.
I have seen arcing between aluminum window frames as a result of strikes at least 1/4 mile away.
As an aside, I have two LED streetlamps that came down during The Storm. One has major lightening protection, the other, barely. Both have surge protectors, and one has a MOV across the Line and neutral. The other has MOVs: L->N, N->Gnd, L->Gnd. If the lines leading in were to take a direct hit...it would not matter. Poof.

That is absolutely correct, the elevator only goes to the half deck, to get to the full deck you have to take the companion way ladder, or go to the other end and take the ADA ramp.

Heh. No. No it did not. We moved back out to California in '07 and we rented it for a year. Tenants moved out right around the time of the '08 crash. Bank eventually foreclosed on it. I think the place was wiped out in a later storm. If I had the means, I'd go back in a heartbeat. The neighborhood was straight out of Mayberry. In a parallel universe, Little would have been raised to be a proper river rat, tubing down the Deleware at every spring thaw..

Got the garden cart out-- wheels were flat, so fired up the compressor & inflated 2 before the cheapo chuck broke off (yeah, didn't help that I'd dropped it, LOL) so got another & finished the other 2...
Then used the cart to hold all the junk what came out of hubby's car and trunk. Kinda got dusty, but I managed... to unload it all into the shop for later.

When hubs & I were dating, I bought him a nice Pendleton shirt. 100% wool, with the leather elbow patches-- really nice. Expensive, but warm, because he worked outdoors frequently.
Yeah, he washed it with jeans, and dried it on *high* heat with them too. Ruined it-- completely trashed-- and about 3 sizes too small when done. LOL! (kissed $100 goodbye...)

I used to follow a website that collected badly translated Chinese & Japanese signs and tattoos and such. They collected enough "your name in Asian characters" tattoos to realize that there was a tattoo manual out there somewhere that "translated" our 26 letters to 26 randomly-chosen kanji/hanzi characters.
Probably half of the "what does this tattoo say" questions were answered with "It's that same bogus font. Again."

Just saw SpaceX will soon launch the "Fram2" mission, which will be the first manned polar orbit. It will launch from the Cape, southward over Cuba. I think this is the first such southward launch since the '60s (NASA got in trouble with debris falling in Cuba during some launch failure back in the day).
The mission commander is named Chun Wang. So, almost Wang Chung.
