The producers behind the “Spider-Man” and “Harry Potter” film franchises will oversee the next James Bond movie, Amazon MGM Studios announced Tuesday.
The appointment of Amy Pascal and David Heyman is the first step in Amazon’s plan to relaunch the British spy franchise, after taking full creative control last month. The producers are expected to play a major role in deciding who will replace actor Daniel Craig as the super-suave MI6 agent, as well as choosing the next film’s director and production schedule. Amazon MGM Studios film chief Courtenay Valenti said the pair would “deliver to global audiences storytelling that upholds the impeccable legacy of this beloved character.” [...] The announcement will only fuel the swirling speculation about who will next play James Bond, one of the most famous characters in the history of cinema. Craig’s final outing, “No Time to Die” — the 25th James Bond film — was released in 2021 and earned $775 million. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill and Theo James are among those currently considered frontrunners. Posted by: andycanuck (/tzYP) at March 25, 2025 08:38 PM (/tzYP) 172

Black Walnut, or Juglans nigra contains or exudes a chemical called juglones iirc, it is basically a natural herbicide in that it inhibits other plants from growing nearby. For this reason, you don’t want Black Walnut trees near your garden, or anything else you’re trying to grow. That’s the distinctive aroma, it’s a kind of poison or chemical warfare.

I had a reverse curve in my neck as a result of 12 years of football (and one brutal year of rugby after college -- big mistake) owing to multiple whiplashes (and concussions -- "Mamas don't let your babies grow up to play football"), along with some other spinal abnormalities.
Had bad neck stiffness and pain by my late 20s; went to an MD, who said "Can't do anything -- here's a prescription for a muscle relaxant." Looked into chiropractic (which has helped over the years); what convinced me most was a study done (admittedly by a chiropractor) on corpses showing that 80% of organ diseases and premature wear could be traced back to a subluxation in the spinal vertebrae corresponding to that organs blood and nerve flow. I’ve long pondered where the “perfect” climate for me would be in continental USA
First, high humidity is right out. Scorching heat, forget it. -35F below? No thanks. I narrowed it to (probably) some sort of south facing desert mountain at a high elevation somewhere. Deserts get surprisingly cold. With the radiant heat, the way it works, it can be scorching hot in direct sunlight, but a blanket is nice in the shade. I figure the old timers and injuns probably had summer and winter digs. North facing for summer, sheltered south facing for winter. Huge difference with microclimate, just a few hundred feet can make 15 or 20 degrees difference in wintertime. Sinkholes are notorious for this, bottomlands and rivers Posted by: Common Tater at March 25, 2025 08:53 PM (nn1Cr) 218

From MercoPress https://tinyurl.com/76nkm9kw
"The Argentine Government of President Javier Milei Monday released a video on social media saying March 24, 2025, should be the “Day of Complete Memory” on the 49th anniversary of the Military Junta uprising headed by Lieutenant General Jorge Rafel Videla, marking the beginning of the self-appointed National Reorganization Process which ended up in the 1982 Falklands/Malvinas War and a return to democratic rule the following year. "The National Memory, Truth, and Justice Holiday has been capitalized on since its inception by leftwing groups denouncing the mass disappearances and tortures under the military regime. But this time around, Milei's Libertarian Administration also focuses on previous deadly acts of violence committed by leftwing terrorist organizations." There is an X video attached the article by Augustin Laje Arrigoni which is 19 minutes of Spanish, but the main push is that in the traditional view of the "Single Demon" genesis of the Argentine Dirty War ignores the fact that the ten years prior to the military coup, Argentina had been wracked by ongoing guerilla warfare, like almost every other South American country Posted by: Kindltot at March 25, 2025 09:55 PM (D7oie) 279
these wars were supported by the Soviet Union and marshalled out of Castro's Cuba. In all, there were more than a thousand bombings, assassinations, ambushes, kindnappings and assaults by an organized revolutionary army, and that the orders to begin counterinsurgency were issued and were put into action prior to the Military coup.
Further, the numbers killed by the military at that time of 30.000 killed was admitted to have been an invention by the revolutionary press to place it at the level of the European conficts, and the best estimates of the diappeared, killed and executed was between 6,000 and 8,000 - admittedly very high. The focus on "The Single Demon" hides the culpability and violence of the revolutionaries and the leftists who supported them in society and leaves the blame and the responsibility for compensation levied on the Argentine governments, which had paid, and which compensation rarely was received by any of the actual victims. Posted by: Kindltot at March 25, 2025 09:55 PM (D7oie) 280
The 19 minute film by Agustin Laje ends with a fairly open statement that we have to see the history of the 70s completely, without censure or dogmatic interpretation, we have to see our history completely9:34 AM 3/25/2025 and only this way can we learn of our past and make sure that it never happens again. A society that clings to lies can never construct a future of liberty.
As a side note, I have never run across Augustin Laje Arrigoni before, I don't do Argentine documetaries for some reason, but I have to say he makes Bill Whittle sound stuffy, and Dinesh D'Souza sound a bit constrained. Posted by: Kindltot at March 25, 2025 09:55 PM (D7oie) 281
