First World Problems...

gravityfail567.jpg

Gravity: It's not just a good idea; it's the law!

Who designed this? It's not like that wine glass is huge... and besides, I bought that dish rack in Paris, which the last time I checked was in France, whose citizens are supposedly well versed in things like wine.

Maybe they drink 24 hours a day, so they don't wash their wineglasses?

Okay... they are forgiven.

You know why chinese products are junk?

Because the chinese peasants making the products literally have no idea what they're making. They do not understand what the product is for, or how it will be used.

For instance: a pair a chinese jumper cables.

The ignorant, uneducated chinese workers have no comprehension of "current" or "amps" "conductivity" or "battery posts" or even the distance of cable one would need to jump start a car with another car.

So you end up with 4-feet long jumper cables made with 14-gauge inferior aluminum stranded wire with plastic clamps that break the first time they are squeezed open.

****

I would tend to disagree. The people designing products aren’t illiterate peasants. China has a large middle class and they build and design many things quite well.

The problem is, they’re told to build something as cheaply as possible and cut corners at every turn to save a few pennies. If you’re getting mid-range or high-end products, they’re usually reasonably well-built.

A lot of the companies selling cheap stuff want it to break so you’ll have to buy another.

His friend objects. "But these instructions are from the *factory*!"

"You don't get it. I'm from the factory too, and I know how these instructions get written. You go out on the line and tell the foreman you need to borrow a guy for a week. Naturally, he picks the most useless fuckup he has, the one he can most easily spare -- and whatever that guy tells you becomes the instructions."

I worked for a telecom manufacturer. We submitted for a huge contract in India. There were 11 submittals.

7 of the 11 submittals were our product; ours and 6 clones made by various Chinese companies. 2 of the clones duplicated our equipment so well they cloned errors we had in our backplane.

I did the work myself. Replacing a well pump is only hard if you do not have help.

The new pump worked for about 30 days.

Had metal angles in the corner of the cartons, and 1/4" plywood down all the edges. Styrofoam padding, too. It all arrived here from Amazon without one scratch. Hundreds of screws, bolts, washers, nuts all shrink-wrapped and labelled onto cardboard.
The Chinglish directions were not great, but the illustrations were fine. I was impressed with the quality and found it amazing that this could be made at a profit for the price I paid.

As I mentioned above, both Lockheed and Boeing built prototypes of this 6th generation stealth fighter and flew them years ago. Obviously Lockheed saw something with Boeing's offering they couldn't top. Or wanted to spend the money to top. Or knew they'd be in the hole billions if they went toe-to-toe with a superior product.

Or whatever. There's some public info out there on the two different prototypes and some graphics of what they looked like.

The Air Force's requirements are also something to consider. IIRC they're looking for what they call "penetration" capabilities... specifically as it pertains to operating in the Pacific (China.)

The War Zone (twz.com) has a story on this.

12 Have a look at last night's ONT-- You're supposed to be using red Solo Cups anyway. No need to wash, just throw them in the trash when done.

170 I love terrazzo floors. They can be very beautiful and they are very easy to care for. Much more durable than tile or marble. It does take a huge amount of wet polishing when being installed. There was a lot of it in schools and commercial buildings decades ago.

171 You know why chinese products are junk?

Because the chinese peasants making the products literally have no idea what they're making. They do not understand what the product is for, or how it will be used.

The end result is a poorly designed, inferior-specced piece of garbage.

My favorite thing to read is the description on Amazon and or the instructions on a product. Someone shoule write a book with the best ones.

180 Ok. The horrible Jonah Goldberg called the French "cheese eating surrender monkeys" for their refusal to support George Bush the Dumber's Iraq War 2.

Given that, and his promise that Trump would execute the horrible Liz Cheney by firing squad immediately upon inauguaration, it is only reasonable to despise him.

And French wine is a reasonable basis to admire them.

Her complexion was white as snow. No peasant she.

This makes the current casting a bit ... problematic.
