John Sexton reports that the Hamas-supporting rag the New York Times whitewashed Mahmoud Khalil's radicalism, but now softly admits he supports "armed resistance," which "Israel calls terrorism." ...at a discussion sponsored by the coalition of student protesters, he remarked that whether Palestinian resistance was peaceful or armed, "Israel and their propaganda always find something to attack." He added, "They -- we -- have tried armed resistance, which is, again, legitimate under international law." But Israel calls it terrorism, he said...Sexton also reports that colleges -- or what were once colleges -- are realizing that they have lost the support of most of the country and the left doesn't have the power to save them. Columbia University is just the start of a long-brewing backlash. On Monday of this week the Trump administration's Department of Education put 60 schools on notice that they will lose federal funding if they don't do more to crack down on antisemitism on campus. ... Unfortunately for many of these schools, they are only now realizing that they don't have a lot of friends to take up any slack if their budgets are cut.[NYT:] Prestigious universities have come to find adversaries in many worlds, among the working class, among rich alumni, among highly educated progressives who find them self-regarding. "Universities are good targets for resentment," said Michael Roth, the president of Wesleyan University who has written about modern campus politics. "They take such enormous pride in how many people they reject. "We at universities have not done enough over the years to pay attention to those groups -- conservative groups, religious groups -- around the country that are essential parts of a democratic culture. The isolation makes us very vulnerable." Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Wilson lost track of how many swastikas he had to scrub, but his colleague Torres, who is Latino, pegged it in the dozens and eventually reached a point where he had enough, his complaint said. "They were so offensive, and Columbia's inaction was so frustrating, that he eventually began throwing away chalk that had been left in the classrooms so vandals would not have anything to write with," Torres' complaint alleged. As I noted in my photo essays long ago:
In the old days, anti-semites would display swastikas as a way of saying, "I am a Nazi and I hate Jews." Nowadays, anti-semites display swastikas as a way of saying, "JEWS are Nazis and therefore I hate them." At least that's their claim. The swastika-drawing is an accusation, not a self-identification. But let's ignore their self-professed motivations. What's the real reason? My theory is that a swastika is the ultimate taboo symbol, and it simply gives these assholes a thrill to display the most taboo thing they can -- exactly like a 4-year-old who learns his first swear word and uses it over and over because of the excitement of violating social norms. It's either that, or these "anti-Zionist" protestors are just straight-up Arab Nazis, nd just lying about the "Jews are the real Nazis" justification. Their belief in "Government Solutions" is strong.
When the left started claiming "government is just another term for things we do together" I liked the meme makers that put that text on top of pictures from NAZI Germany. Yes, Godwin, but it got the point across nicely. Posted by: 18-1 at March 18, 2025 04:41 PM (t0Rmr) --- I don't believe in Godwin. Is the Godwin prediction correct? Seems to be. What does it mean about an argument? It means that even if we want to call each other Nazis, we still agree that the Nazis are a good bedrock upon which to ground an analysis of "evil". Really fucks it up when people are chasing Jews, and assaulting people for serving Jews and drawing swastikas. Because, no, those people don't really think that the Nazis were a universal benchmark for Evil. But they'll lie if it makes you look like a Nazi. The deorbit delta-V for Dragon is not all that much, just 50 something m/s. Basically, you're just lowering perigee, so the orbital trajectory gets into the atmosphere at the proper angle you want. Atmospheric friction then slows you down from orbital velocity. IIRC, the "entry point" for the atmosphere is taken as 100 km altitude, or about 54 miles. Justice Roberts tells Trump that he is wrong calling out for impeachment of a lower court judge. Roberts says the judges are neutral. Reality says the Obama/Biden judges are POLITICAL ACTIVISTS! Posted by: jim (in Kalifornia) at March 18, 2025 05:06 PM (ynpvh) Roberts should say "Judges SHOULD BE neutral" and act in both directions to make it so.
