If there was a bonus involved, they can keep it.
If they are in a Service Academy, they will not have to pay back the cost of education. If they are between 18-20 years of active duty, they will be allowed early retirement.

But, it's happening.

Evil storm swept through my town last night in south central MO.

Prayers up for any Morons unfortunate enough to be in its path.

At least half my town has been without power since 8:30 p.m. last night (local time). My side of town is still without power.

My office still has power, food, and water, though, so I've relocated for now.

Mundane logistics.

After Boeing did their yolo launch, The pair were left up there with Boeing compatible space suits so they could not return on the next SpaceX flight.

SpaceX sent up new suits for them so they could return on this flight.

Butch and Sundance had both been to the ISS prior, Butch for about two weeks, Sundance had been up for an extended stay.

Point to ponder: Boeing has been a government contractor for over 90 years; SpaceX is a newcomerr.

Odd, how we remember that exact date and the events more than 2000 years later. Of course Shakespeare's play helped, but that was written 1500 years after the fact and more than 400 years ago itself.

Income Tax Day was March 15 for a long time, until after WWII, I think. Perhaps media pundits of those days, radio and newspapers, likened the stabbing of Caesar to the stabbing the American people were getting from their government, and thus kept the memory alive.

Caesar had been a soldier and a general, and had spilled plenty of blood on the way to the dictatorship of Rome. His problem, I guess, is that he offered clemency to many of his enemies, and they resented him and turned on him. He should have made a few more examples of them before they got him.

105 A sad thing about Intuitive Machines Athena lander falling over is that it held America's first lunar rover, MAPP.

MAPP was designed and built by Lunar Outpost for a dollar. It was supposed to hitch a ride on Blue Ghost but switched to IM.

I was really looking forward to that rover as it had some cool features I've been curious about, like how to navigate on the Moon. It's not as easy as you would think.

I was thinking Zelenskyy due to the recent row in the WH, but come to think of it, Jacob Zuma would also be a fit.

For fun, type in "Tell me about Jacob Zuma, former dictator of South Africa" and ChatGPT gets real defensive about how "democratic" South Africa is.

I remember with 'fondness' the red clays in Uganda an Kenya - like soap when wet. But everything grew. Fertile soils.

I think of it as a cheap reminder on what a greedy bastard that man is. Can't be satisfied with one 'y'. There will be justice when those who write about the fall of Europe will spell that clown's name with an 'i' rather than a precious 'y'.

117 Just curious, is it clay? Is it red mud or brown? Posted by: Ciampino - a plethora of launches.

It is mostly a red clay. The Mesilla Valley, which is where the Rio Grande River runs through here, Is excellent farmland and can support growing everything from cotton to corn to peppers and to pecan trees which the dominant crop in the area. It should be noted. The Rio Grande is so regulated in this region that during the winter months the water flow is cut off and the river through the Las Cruces area is a sandy ditch. When it is flowing Texas New Mexico and Regular Mexico each getting allotment out of it. Think of it as the American Southwest's Nile River but with more lawsuits between Texas and New Mexico over who's stealing whose water.

119 Linux or landfill? What happens to old PC with Windows 10 going gently into that good night this October.

I looted a Windows Surface Pro when the office permanently closed its offices during the Wuhan Death Miasma Scare. Then, for reasons, I replaced the screen and battery because the computer had some utility as a easy to carry computer within my 5.11 EDC Man Bag.

I'm not sure that Linux would support the unique properties of the Surface Pro like touchscreen, camera or pen input. Alas, since it has a 1 TB SDD drive and a somewhat useful screen with a low power requirement and a built in "UPS", maybe it can be incorporated as a FTP file server for the security system.

125 I want two things to change on software:
When I pay $150 for an OS (or any software, at any amount, barring an actual SaaS arrangement) I want to OWN that copy of the OS and not have to worry someone will disable it down the road because they want me to buy something new.
And, when they stop support, ALL IP rights to that piece of software revert to ME. And anyone who happens to want to provide support to me can get in the guts and do what they will with it.

I have kin in New Mexico dating back to the conquistadors.
I spent several summers in The Land of Enchantment.
The sky in NM has a particular quality of blue I have seen no where else.
But I digress.
New Mexico has Spanish influence in its record keeping and administration. If recall about thirty years ago the New Mexico water management dating back to its Spanish type administration was doing so well that Texas sheer them for additional water.
