Should I know who Gustav Boyer is? Is he a "somebody"? The name seems familiar. Hmm

It's a portrait of a person I have never seen. So I have no idea how accurate the likeness is. I like his hat. It really stands out amid all those muddy colors.
Gustav looks like he probably smells of cigarettes and beer. He seems the sort to have a big laugh. Big, loud, from the belly laugh. I wonder if he was a happy go lucky sort who laughed a lot even when down on his luck.

Cezanne has given his boyhood friend the quality of a Balzacian provincial character, ambitious and determined, with something of the bearing of his own father, as we see him in a photograph taken at that time. We are not sure it is a good likeness of the man; in Cezanne's other portraits of Boyer we see a more mediocre face. The force of the characterization comes not so much from the details of the features as from Cezanne's robust art, which endows the man with the energy of the painter's forms and the mood of his favored colors. The construction and proportioning of bust, head, and hat build up a dominating presence. The projecting silhouettes of the hat and jacket on the right create a strong profile as marked as the features on the face; and the tones, which recall the blacks and greys of the "Landscape of L'Estaque" and even the passage of light on the horizon (like the light along the lapel), give to the portrait an aspect of somber will-perhaps Cezanne's own. Add to these the extraordinary vigor of the brush which in passing from the thinly painted areas to the more solid, studied region of the face with minute modeling

He was indeed, as villainous Col. Hubris on a rather pedestrian episode in Season Two, "The Deadly Goddess Affair," with Daniel J. Travanti (long before Hill Street Blues). Buono gives Hubris a mad elan that is the episode's real, and pretty much only, high point.

A friend of mine has an old police interceptor.

Kind of an overall shitty car, if I'm being honest. Terrible gas mileage, drives like a boat, handles like shit, is nowhere near as fast as you'd think it would be.

That said, parts are very cheap and the fact that it's body on frame makes it easier / cheaper to repair if it gets in to an accident. So I get why police departments liked them.

But it's 1970's technology. Cars have really come a long way since then.

I could parallel park it in a normal spot and it had a 6 1/2 foot bed, so other than moving full sheets of plywood or sheetrock, it did most of what I needed it to do.

Now my only options are to buy a massive pickup truck with an even smaller bed and probably worse gas mileage that is a gigantic pain in the ass to park anywhere with tight parking.

The funniest part is seeing the public service announcements telling you that if you are considering purchasing a vehicle and it gets higher MPG than it's supposed to then it's likely that it's been illegally modified.

I think their biggest mistakes were calling it the Probe and having Dr Ruth Westheimer be a spokesman for it in TV ads.
I mean, there is something to be said for "leaning into the controversy" but then there is "pelvic thrusts" levels/
