74 My best friend has been an avid sailor and fisherman all his life. He decided after college to spend his life doing what he was good at and what he loved. So while the rest of us where doing the rat race he opened a boat service and sales business. And he worked his ass off. When he wasn't working his job he was racing sailboats all over the world and fishing.

He sold his business and he's now retired and splitting his time fishing in the keys and hanging out up here when he and his lovely wife feel like it.

This is a great question. Great geography, abundant natural resources, and formerly pride in the American Way for the majority.
All 3 West coast states have some of the most generous handout giveaway schemes to the homeless, and if one questions it, the questioner is attacked, is this a part of it?

Until Covid, it was.
Now, other than going to an occasional NFL or MLB game (the stadiums are located in the south end of the city) I have abandoned going to downtown Seattle. It still looks like a war zone from CHAZ and the Floyd riots bullshit. So much retail, formerly bustling 5 years ago, is now boarded up and vacant.
I don't think it is ever coming back. Even Amazon corporate continues to break leases and move to the Eastside.

147 I threw a major tantrum today. When Himself and I hated into this apartment complex a couple years back, we paid a single monthly amount that included utilities. This year, we have to pay all utilities, but the rent stayed the same. Today, it was announced that the company had struck a deal with Cox, and it is mandatory that we now use Cox internet.

I loathe Cox. They screwed me over a horrendous amount of money for my business internet. I can't begin to tell you how much I hate Cox.

I called my oldest son who works as an apartment maintenance man to double check on this mandatory thing. Sadly, he said it was becoming a common practice, so once more Cox is sewing me over.

Everything was fine in the US. She then went to Canada and the Canadians told her to fuck off, your visa is wrong. That's when the US bureaucrats started thinking, if the Canucks can be assholes about the visa, we can top that.
Why the Canadians even needed a visa for a fellow Subject Of The King, I don't know.
Overall she should have been sent to the UK immediately, but with a good deal more sensitivity than has been shown.

A week or so ago, I went through two visits to the VA to obtain ID.Me (~3 hrs. including travel) and, 3 hrs. at the DMV to renew my driver's license.
