SNL had 3 peaks; the first and greatest was the original cast, with Belushi, Akroyd, and Murray. Then it hell off - revitalized with a 2nd peak in the Jon Lovett / Phil Hartman era. Fell off, and came back a 3rd time with the David Spade/Norm McDonald run. After they left it’s been all downhill, a big long waste of time .

Libs of TikTok@libsoftiktok Morgan Geyser, the infamous "Slender Man" stabber who was sentenced to 40 years in a mental hospital, is set to be released by a judge after only serving 10 years. A perfect Monday morning in DC, soon. The sound of a bugle playing “Charge” comes over the loud speakers on the DOJ building. Kash Patel and Dan Bongino walk into AOC's office, and Kash charges her with 15,000,000 counts of concealing Illegal aliens. Kash then says “Book em Dano”. AOC starts a “Power to the people “ rant and the other FBI agents charge her with 50,000 volts of Tazer Justice. AOC flops around on the floor like that time she pulled a train with a Biker Gang, to the sound track of a 1940's Daffy Duck Cartoon. Now that is a work of art.

We are all going to have PTSD
As I lay here unable to sleep I realize this administration is liable for all mental health diagnoses and lives lost during this time. As of yesterday I’m pretty sure I now have a full blown stomach ulcer. At work I could barely function, and was fully disassociating. My meds have been doubled but the face-numbing anxiety and c-PTSD symptoms are returning after the years of talk therapy and EMDR I did to heal. All I wanted to do was my job. When I look in the mirror I have aged so much since all this shit began. I fear I’ve stayed on this ship for too long and am going down with it. If I get spat out on the other side, I doubt there will be any jobs left in the private sector, since we know the market is already flooded. I have nothing profound to say, just that I’m sure this stress has cut years off all our lives. Posted by: Intercepted r/fednews Transmissions at March 08, 2025 10:05 PM (ufFY8) 78

That skiing chick not knowing or forgetting how to stop in the ozzyman video, that would have been me the first and only time I went downhill skiing umpteen zillion years ago. I never did master the stopping thing and did almost crash into one person, thankfully I was aware enough to drop to the ground and I only slid over the back of their skis and eventually came to a stop. Man, my knees were so swollen on the trip back. Cross country skiing was generally safer. Wish I could ski again or snowboard but my knees are too shot.

Meeting them after Mass, my FiL brought them home for Christmas dinner. One brother went into the German Foreign Diplomatic Service. Nice guy. I didn't like his brother. Selling Toshiba computer to the Chinese. The diplomat married and got cancer. No children. The friend I liked was nice. He was a lawyer and worked for a "Green" member of the Bundestag. He was fine until he was about 30 and his girlfriend went off on a vacation with her girlfriend to the south of Spain. That was when he realized she didn't really love him. So. Also, I thought that Quebec (which exports power to New York and New England) wasn't going along with this. Pro tip: BC Hydro, the Alberta utilities, Manitoba Hydro, Ontario Hydro, and Hydro Quebec make tons of money selling power to the United States, and use that money to reduce electrical rates to their Canadian customers. Cut off those export earnings, and electrical rates will rise sharply for Canadians. Be careful what you wish for. Posted by: The ARC of History! at March 08, 2025 10:51 PM (xTIDn) 221

This was an issue in the last election. Commercials whining about how farmers wanted to control their land and pass it along to their families bombarded the airwaves. It was a total scam. The proposal actually took local zoning for farms away and handed it to the State, so that the State could determined where solar farms could be built. Try not to play it if you don't have to. Not everyone can do this of course, but if you can, it's worth it. Just my two cents....🦆🐤 Posted by: COMountainMarie at March 08, 2025 11:08 PM (7bv6k) 265

At this point, my only hope for the US to avoid becoming an ally to Russia is a violent resistance by our military. Flu shots had the same cycle for years:
A drive to get everyone vaccinated A celebration that more people were vaccinated than ever An explanation that so many people were getting sick because once again they chose the wrong strain to vaccinate again and then lean into the next season by declaring the previous season so successful. I finally decided the shots were more important than preventing the flu, and that meant what was in the shot was not important to the people pushing it. Captain of USS Gettysburg was allowed to hand his command over, even though his ship shot down a Super Hornet trying to land on Truman. And almost shot down a second Super Hornet. As a result, almost killed Naval aviators. Friendly fire is never friendly.
Captain of Truman after the collision with the tanker off Port Said Egypt was relieved of his command. So who was blowing whom one wonders? Posted by: Anna Puma at March 08, 2025 11:39 PM (iuOmy) Retired Navy Electronics type.... I can easily see how the Gettysburg incidents were caused by a combination of surface conditions... high target environment (lots of drones flying).. and a failure of IFF... if'n the aircraft is coming off a strike mission, it may very well NOT be squawking IFF... then flies through an area that is being defended by the Ship... Truman? Uh... no Surface Radar, no Lookouts? in a high traffic area? It's not like they ran into a bitty tiny boat... that merchant ship was pretty dang big. Credit can be a useful tool.
We have a hdepot card & have used it when major appliances crapped out or we wanted to build our barn.. using either the discount or no-interest payoff plans. Sometimes, it's worth it. We took 401k loans to pay off the house, rather than re-fi when interest rates went down. Saved a boatload on fees, plus 40k of interest due to early payoff. (Suck it, Chase Bank!) Plus! The 'interest' on 401k loans got paid TO US, by us, and wasn't much more monthly than our original house payment. Posted by: JQ at March 09, 2025 12:38 AM (rdVOm) 427

Evangelical doing missionary in Africa and giving out Bibles.
Tried to give one to a fellow and he said no when asked again he said I'll take your bible and use the pages to roll my cigarettes. Evangelical said I'll make a deal with you. You use the bible for your rolling papers but you read the part you tear out for your cigarette before you smoke it. It was a deal. Five years later the evangelical saw the man at a revival meeting. They greeted and you know, what's up? The fellow said I came to Jesus about 1/2 through, I'm here as a missionary for my church. Metalheads were more like vikings, give a long house with booze and chicks and we'll make our own fun. The more mainstream a genre was the more weird the people were. I was at this one party, big fancy house down the shore. It was for a band of a different genre. There were candy dishes of coke in every room, and a hot tub and sauna. There was a room with white sheets laid out on the floor, and people were hitting the sauna, then sprinkling coke all over the sheets and then just rolled in it. It was nuts. Posted by: ScaryMary at March 09, 2025 02:07 AM (i/l90) Its way more scary today. My dentist lost his son. A friend of mine lost his son, and ex girlfriend of mine from high school lost her son, and 3 dudes I went to school with died. 507 I had a firm party policy: if coke was produced, it was time to leave. Never wanted anything to do with stuff I couldn't afford, or anything that needed to be crushed, snorted, shot up or freebased. Rolling a fat one and pouring a glass of 101 was fine. Beyond that, nope.

Turns out some people don't tolerate the stuff drunk (1st time) or sober (second time). Even today, the smell of weed will stir the beginnings of nausea. Posted by: IRONGRAMPA at March 09, 2025 02:20 AM (hKoQL) 524

I experimented a few times in college, but back then there was no AIDS, no fentanyl, and nobody was doing smack. A little cocaine, dropped acid once (I had a minder, so it wasn't bad), smoked a little dope, but it mostly put me to sleep, so hard pass. I will attest that I will never drink tequila again, so there's that.

Along with my buddies in college, the High Times magazine centerfold shot of a bud to us was like Playboy's centerfold to others.
I remember the days of actual colored weed, not dyed or spray-painted, either. Red, gold, and other colors. They all tasted different and they acted on you differently, too. Red was a deep stone ('Panama Red'), while gold was a lively and happy high. Really different. Miss that. And, yeah, the smell was better, too. Still stunk, but not like today. Weed was the only thing I could do and still play guitar. If I drank it was over. I couldn't get arrested as a guitar player. Weed on the other hand, I was frigging Odin. I have a friend who is a guitar player, was also in a somewhat known band. That dude can get frigging shitfaced and go up on stage and still sound good. I can't do that, not if my life depended on it.

Posted by: Sam Adams at March 09, 2025 03:38 AM (X+xvk) Nobody has a nice history. 99% of "history" is military history. I've always chalked that up to the fact that nobody thinks nice things are worth recording for posterity. If it bleeds it leads. Could also just be the innate warmonger-ness of Europeans who are the ones who decide what "doing history" looks like. Even Alfred's little book about England over 1000 years ago was pretty much an unbroken list of who was stoving whom's head in at any given moment. Some countries are still far more miserable than others, though. Posted by: Warai-otoko at March 09, 2025 03:48 AM (KtIIi) 559
