Nvidia... RTX 5090... dropped support for 32-bit CUDA libraries ... killed support for 32-bit OpenCL... which makes older games run at one quarter speed when you upgrade from a 4000-series card to its newer counterpart.

Evening and morning on this Pudgy Tiu's Day to all the late toilers and early risers!
I wish I'd dropped in on the ONT last night. The pic Doof used at the top of the post is of my old "main street," Bourbon Street. The block is, I think, the 300 block, and the view looks up the street toward Canal Street -- and beyond to the Hibernia Bank Building. Once upon a time, say sixty to seventy years ago, it was the tallest building in town and a landmark. You could, I was told, ride an elevator to the observation tower and view the entire flatness of DA Swamp from the dizzying heights of some 300 feet up. My house was about four blocks from where the pic was taken. Though I think this pic is of much more recent vintage. I don't recognize a lot of the shop and bar names. DataRepublican bites Liz Cheney about Ukraine:
Datarepublican isn't saying anything new or different from a myriad of other critics of the Cheneys. What makes Dr different is that she has established credibility by targeting things people care about in an objective manner through data analysis (or at least that is the impression). IOW, it isn't a series of lies and smears and emotional manipulation typical of the Left, but appealing to the Left side of the brain that handles logic and reason. Posted by: Unknown Drip Under Pressure at March 04, 2025 07:21 AM (a4flb) 130
It’s illustrative that the world we live in is so neatly divided now - DataRepublican is the type of person needed in government. Liz Cheney, not so much.
The news orgs are chock full of credentialed “experts” - the internet, with ordinary people doing investigative reports as a hobby is where smart people get their world view. Aggregate reporting, crowd sourced, the signal to noise ratio is actually pretty good, it would be better, except for the usual suspects trying to blow it up and disrupt it. I disagree. Someone like Datarepublican in government would be a limited exposure, departmentalized, bureaucratic, highly regulated and process oriented career. In her current position, she can flit from database to database like a butterfly exposing in public the things that would normally be a careering ending move.
