10 Tjs is intriguing. At first glance I thought it was surreal or abstract, but then my vision cleared and I saw the barges, their reflections in the water, and the reflection of the bank over to the right.

However . . . the reflections of the barges are very tall, and look more like inverted apartment buildings. The tall reflection off the bank, on the far right, could be of a literal building or tower we can't see.

Canadians: Recommend you divert YOUR course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

Americans: This is the Captain of the barge. I say again, divert YOUR course.

Canadians: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.

Americans: This is the Captain of the Abraham Lincoln, the second largest barge in the United States' Atlantic fleet. We are accompanied by three smaller barges, three tugs and numerous support vessels. I demand that YOU change your course 15 degrees north, that's one five degrees north, or countermeasures will be undertaken to ensure the safety of this ship.

Money is handy until you have enough to live your life without depending on others.

The only reason this affects me, at all, is that the goods I buy are more expensive to pay for the advertising which buys expensive crap to give to people I couldn't pick out of a police lineup. If you need to attend constant soirees and have your peers tell you how pretty and wonderful you are... you must lead a pretty miserable life. Tchotchkes don't fix that.

163 OK, probably a somewhat unpopular opinion.

I think it does take a fair bit of talent to act properly. It's really a difficult thing to pull off well enough so an audience is engaged and thinking about the character and not the actor.

Such talent, however, does not entitle one to absolute moral authority. Sure, they have opinions like anyone else, but to parade them by using their platforms is not just insulting to the prospective audiences, but also takes away from their jobs of portraying characters and instead turns the focus into them -playing- a character.

And that is not oquaydoquay.

198 Actually, running Walz is the result of an interesting dilemma the unhinged Left faces. Half of them (or more) truly believe a major reason Harris lost was because of racism and misogyny, and they want power so badly, they are willing to play the game and run a straight white man.

However, there is a sizable enough contingent with the Dem base that feels the minority community has been shut out long enough, Harris wasn't supported fully, and Dem need to put up a super-minority candidate or face massive abandonment in the next presidential election.

209 Actually, running Walz is the result of an interesting dilemma the unhinged Left faces.

Blowback can still happen if the popular things end up having negative consequences that affect the people.

I just don't think it'll happen.

Federal workers (who generally seem to be 90-10 D-R) will see massive layoffs, but they were Democrats anyway. NGOs will get funding cut, but they were mostly Democrat or GOPe and hated Trump anyway (plus, their funding created an artificial leftist ecosystem that is far more valuable than their individual votes).

If the economy explodes in real terms (there will be bad GDP numbers in the near future because of layoffs and stopping of government spending), then the GOP should be fine in the next couple of cycles.

You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in.

I don’t think average voters care about the GDP. It’s one of the fakest numbers in economics. If taxpayers see benefits to cutting gov’t (say, in the form of a rebate check) and inflation slows, I think Trump will do fine.

The real problem is entitlements, SNAP and other welfare programs. There are so many people who get money from those. They need to be cut, but that will cause real pain and backlash.

Not really sure that the actors inside of C3PO and R2D2 fit the definition of 'acting' in the movie. Edwards as C3PO is voice actor pretty much, and R2D2 has even less acting required. Vader is amusing but having James Earl Jones do the voice and David Prowse the guy behind the mask. Not really sure that is traditional 'acting'.

My god, as an American and a woman, I’m so embarrassed by the masc fragility displayed at the WH today, by two supposed MEN who are so hysterical over the lack of personal ass kissing — by a man who’s literally at war to save his country. Like, you could muscle up and help him,Like, you could muscle up and help him, if you guys weren’t so woke and weak.

What does "win the war" mean in practical terms?

Omg she used fragile, like the tween girls in junior high. Sick burn. She even through in hysterical.

I love the go to man shaming when men don't do what she wants.

365 266 In the 70's the Oscars meant something.

You know what meant something in the 70's?

Pre-peak Angie Dickenson full frontal nudity.

It wasn't brief, didn't "advance the plot" and wasn't done for artistic reasons.

367 But, the media's ability to sell narratives, especially about the economy, is deeply eroded.

Denying that there's any inflation for years, while people can see the opposite at the grocery store will have that effect.

369 348 If Hollywood wants us to go back to the theaters, they are going to have to start making movies that the general public wants to see.

And if they want people to watch the Oscars, they are going to have to get rid of their stupid DEI criteria for consideration.

I would rather watch old Bugs Bunny or Roadrunner cartoons than watch almost everything put out by Hollywood today. Pepe LePew cartoons are about on par with Hollywood movies.

As to why we should care what SE Cupp has to think about anything, those facts are not established by her past record.

As an American Woman, Ukrainian and Russian Men dying is below her notice, completely irrelevant.

At least that's the only read i can muster beyond "Obligatory Tweet Preface #27-5.b"

377 The correct course of action was to tell Russia years ago that if they invaded Ukraine, we would annihilate them and sell the carcass of their ruined nation off to the highest bidders. And then outherwise honorably uphold our side of any bargains made.

Instead "we" did the exact opposite.
