Karoline Leavitt Says She Is Taking Back the Power to Decide Who Enters the WH Press Room From the Far-Left Propaganda Organization the WHCA

Good.

They were given this role with the understanding that they would be neutral and objective. They have violated this understanding.

The White House said Tuesday that it would take over which outlets are allowed into the press pool covering the president, wrestling such control from the White House Correspondents' Association.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt said moving forward, the White House press pool, a small group of reporters that travels with and cover the president's daily activities, will now be determined by administration officials. Traditionally, the press pool is coordinated by the Correspondents' Association, which White House officials across multiple administrations have traditionally given deference to.

"It's beyond time the White House press pool reflects the media habits of the American people in 2025," Leavitt said during a briefing with reporters.

The goal, Leavitt said, is to give new or alternative media companies greater access to the administration while still keeping certain "legacy" outlets in the rotation.
MOST READ: Texas pushes to tighten rules for Botox, similar treatments

Leavitt's announcement comes as the White House continues to bar The Associated Press from access to President Trump in the Oval Office, on Air Force One, and in other spaces where typically only the pool gathers, due to lack to space.

The barring came in response to the news organization indicated it would not change its influential stylebook to reflect Trump's renaming of the "Gulf of Mexico" to the "Gulf of America."

In related news, a DC judge finally turned down a lefty for a temporary restraining order against the President:

A federal judge in Washington, D.C., on Monday declined to restore The Associated Press's access to certain spaces open to the media at the White House, saying AP failed to show a likelihood of success on the merits and emphasized that additional briefing on the matter is necessary "given the stakes" for both parties. The judge set an expedited schedule and ordered arguments on a preliminary injunction for March 20.

Leavitt celebrated the judge's ruling Tuesday and said the White House wants "more outlets and new outlets to cover the press pool."

The WHCA -- the same people who put on the savage Trump-bashing "Nerd Prom" for "journalists" and their leftwing celebrity guests every year -- complained that they weren't being treated fairly.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the WHCA said the White House "did not give the WHCA board a heads up or have any discussions about today's announcements."

"This move tears at the independence of a free press in the United States. It suggests the government will choose the journalists who cover the president. In a free country, leaders must not be able to choose their own press corps," the organization said.

"For generations, the working journalists elected to lead the White House Correspondents' Association board have consistently expanded the WHCA's membership and its pool rotations to facilitate the inclusion of new and emerging outlets."

The NPC Talking Points Update has gone out.

Bonus: The Washington Post has solid reporting out that criminals deported to Guantanamo Bay are complaining and lodging typical prisoner beefs.

Yes, that is a fair description of a prison. The men are in prison. Locked in cages, rarely let outside, and often times shackled. I too would not feel like a human being under those conditions, which is why I try not to do anything that will land me in prison.

@JacquiHeinrich This move does not give the power back to the people - it gives power to the White House. The WHCA is democratically elected by the full-time White House press corps.

WHCA has determined pools for decades because only representatives FROM our outlets can determine resources all those outlets have - such as staffing - in order to get the President's message out to the largest possible audience, no matter the day or hour.

Anyone who takes that job will forever be known as an acceptable Trump sycophant. They will not report news that will be trusted. They will be listening to lies and fabrications. Their reporting will, therefore, be fabrications of lies.

I hope the press pool pushes back as a group. How hard would Trump cry if he held a presser and no one showed up?

Doesn't seem like it but that is Congressional power regarding the budget. Doesn't matter what the president (or for that matter the courts) say as the power to tax, spend, and borrow is plenary other than to spend to violate the Constitution.

Even previous laws do not apply because one Congress cannot legally bind another Congress as spending, appropriation, and tax bills are all technically laws themselves so they automatically amend previous laws to the contrary.

The whole point of the pressers is to allow “journalists” to as idiotic gotcha questions and for Leavitt and Trump to dunk on them. These people need a fucking reality check. Just because you get to be in the same room as important people, does not make you important.

Trump can find an endless parade of Youtubers and bloggers who’d gladly cover him, including lefties. The legacy media is largely just fodder for social media anyway.

260 Most big tech companies claim that is not the case. WhatsApp, iMessage, etc. are end to end encrypted. So while NSA can grab the packets as they float around the internet, allegedly they cannot decrypt the contents, and neither can the big tech companies.

I don't buy it, personally, but that's their story.
Posted by: Harry Paratestes
===========
The NSA can decrypt most if not all traffic but it cannot be used in evidence for civil or criminal actions because its acquisition violates the 4th Amendment. Under FISA and bad decisions by the FISA court, there are all sorts of loopholes, caveats, etc. that have basically allowed the government to pick any particular target and do wholesale data gathering on that person.

Sometimes, they leak the info in order to charge people but if challenged, sometimes retreat back into states secrets doctrine mode to cover means and methods of acquisition.

Stingray fake cell phone tower information is one such where the company selling these services demand that it not be used in court if revealed as to source. LEOs thus put it under informant label and try not to get questioned by judges too much about it.

Apple turned off ADP for new UK users. Possibly in the future it'll be for all users in the UK.

No ADP means no end to end encryption where only the privately owned device has the decryption key. This is a massive decrease in security for apple users.

They disabled the end-to-end encryption feature in the UK. The UK gov’t wanted a global backdoor, which Apple refused to supply. So now data stored on iCloud in the UK will be available to the UK gov’t, which is pretty much the way things have always been for cloud-based services.

I wish there were stronger privacy guarantees, but no company can operate in a company and refuse to comply with its laws. I also haven't heard any reporters remark that PDT doesn't read every word he says from note cards when speaking with foreign leaders on TV from the Oval Office. Supposedly the information is stored on telcom servers and can be acquired as needed by nat sec agencies which certainly have the computing power to decrypt most encryption used commercially. The two California jihadi murderers had apple phones that the FBI could not crack allegedly--when apple refused to decrypt them, they turned to an Israeli based company that did it for them.

But in practical terms, man in the middle attacks are an easy way to intercept whatever you want in the midst of transmission. There is no reason in particular to view something as Signal which claims to be end to end encrypted as safe from these attacks.

Little more to it than that. Can intercept texts, supposedly phone calls in progress, etc. Basically anything that security services want as it is a man in the middle attack.

The public facing arguments when it has surfaced in court is that it only is a pen register as to call length, location, numbers called, etc. Stingray is far more than that as it was originally developed for places like Iraq for sigint.

346 >> which certainly have the computing power to decrypt most encryption used commercially

They almost certainly do not have the computing power to break commercial crypto. However, the intelligence agencies have a long history of finding or creating backdoors. Either by subverting standards or by finding flaws in implementation.

>> But in practical terms, man in the middle attacks are an easy way to intercept whatever you want in the midst of transmission. There is no reason in particular to view something as Signal which claims to be end to end encrypted as safe from these attacks.

I wouldn’t agree. They’re not necessarily backdoored. Also, end-to-end encryption relies on the same primitives as at-rest encryption. Man-in-the-middle against proper end-to-end encryption is usually harder to pull off because you need to know ephemeral data that only exists for the duration of the connection.

Conversely, at-rest encryption is easier to attack because the data must be accessed so you have to keep the keys around in some form.

The San Bernadino shooters were a good example of this. That was at-rest encryption. It wasn’t using Apple’s state-of-the-art encryption tech.
