Ronai Grandmother.jpg

My Grandmother
Jozsef Rippl-Ronai

I reject a fair number of artworks because the reproductions on the internet are too small or too crappy, and Ace doesn't pay me enough to fly to every museum to take my own photos. This one is on the edge of too small, but I like it, so...

70 Rippl-Rónai’s portrait of My Grandmother from 1894 is perhaps more reminiscent of Whistler’s painting of his mother, than the typical Nabi paintings of this time. Once again there is no flattening of depth, nor patterning. All the textiles shown are devoid of patterns.

77 The art...

That lady has had a stroke at some time. And although green is one of my favorite colors (I really like that shade of green) it's rather overwhelming the lady. She is very pale. Definitely not a healthy person.

Seriously though, was she actually alive to sit for this or did he prop up the corpse? Coz,,,,, she look daid!

The painting is pretty stark despite the use of the green colors. A grassy green for the background, a dark blue-green for the mantelpiece and chair seat, a dark olive (one might almost say "olive drab") for Grandma's jacket and skirt . . . and then a sharp black for her blouse and headgear, and a stark pale whitish shade for her face. It jumps out at you.

Fox News is wall to wall with dead-eyed politicians telling you that Iran is a dangerous “sponsor of terror.” Softening up the base for a war. But what exactly does that phrase mean, and how does it apply to the United States? Here’s one measure: over the past twenty years, how many Americans have been killed by Iran on American soil? Try to find that number, and then compare it to the number of Americans killed by drug ODs. Or suicide. Or illegal aliens. Or carjackings, diabetes and the Covid vax. Still think Iran is the greatest threat? How about we focus on our own country for a minute.

Great White Grandma - a horror story

My old Granny's eyes are a fright
Like doll's eyes as black as the night

When she chomps on your arm

AOC starts a “Power to the people “ rant, and the SWAT team charges her with 50,000 volts of Tazer Justice. AOC flops around on the floor like that time she pulled a train with a Biker Gang, while the sound track of a 1940's Daffy Duck Cartoon plays in the background. Now that is a work of art.

But Hecht rebelled against his Jewish bosses at the movie studios when they refused to make films about the Nazi menace. Leveraging his talents and celebrity connections to orchestrate a spectacular one-man publicity campaign, he mobilized pressure on the Roosevelt administration for an Allied plan to rescue Europe’s Jews. Then after the war, Hecht became notorious, embracing the labels “gangster” and “terrorist” in partnering with the mobster Mickey Cohen to smuggle weapons to Palestine in the fight for a Jewish state.

Several purposes. A general purpose, rapidly reusable vehicle for going to Mars, Lunar operations, etc, etc. There are many variants planned for the different purposes.

And yes, even passenger vehicle type stuff is on the menu for the future. There's something they call "point to point" transport. Get from point A to point B on the Erf via sub-orbital trajectory.

Go from NYC to Sydney in around an hour. That's pretty far into the future, but that's one of the long range plans.

240 198 @166. Tesla is down almost 40 percent this year.
------
Stock prices often have little to do with actual company profits and losses. Simply put, Tesla was probably overvalued as a momentum stock rather than underlying fundamentals. Nevertheless, basically Tesla has first mover advantage in e-cars that other car companies will have difficulty in erasing. The end of e-car subsidies from the Green Nude Eel will also cause traditional automakers to reevaluate future e-vehicle competitors because simply put, they don't have the stock values necessary to pay for that investment themselves.

Toyota did the more prudent option even during the Green Nude Eel hysteria about globul climate change. They stuck with their hybrids and now are the market leader in applying hybrid tech to a variety of different vehicles. Ford threw away its tentative moves in favor of jumping in on E vehicles. Nissan and Honda are fading so much that they are probably going to link up. GM is still relying on its trucks and large SUVs to make money. And I think both BMW and Mercedes shot themselves in the foot regarding E-vehicle detours.

Transitions of tech are always with rough patches.

281 >>So not the most credible source...

I suppose it depends on what you are trying to prove.

If you want to prove Carney is the next WEF, globalist pawn to be installed in a western government then Steele is an impeccable source.

Trump might have defeated them here but the movement is still very much alive in Europe and other parts of the world as we saw last night in Romania.

Veblen is interesting but he smells.

Elon is not afraid to fail. I heard him talking about this a while back. There are two extremes of doing something like this, rockets to orbit. You can be reckless, going by the seat of your pants, not really testing anything. Shit blows up all the time.

The other extreme is super caution. Testing, testing, and re-testing everything, simulations, everything you can think of before you try to do it. Here, you never get going, because there's always one more test to do.

There's a happy medium in between. Elon shoots for that. And that means yep, we're gonna blow shit up, but blowing shit up is the fastest, most efficient way to figure stuff out quickly enough to get 'er done.

Again, a happy medium there.

284 I was lucky enough to have a Great Grandma who lived to be 103. Born in 1892 died in 1995.
Was born on and lived on a farm built in 1840 until she broke her hip making donuts one day. Passed soon after, about a month before her first great great grandson was born.
Her perspective was unique. Poor as dirt until after WW2. Then did really well.
Her passing was really my first experience with what happens when an estate has 4 people fighting over everything.
Seems nobody wound up with anything and the 160 acre farm is now high end houses on a man made lake.

The bottom half of the vehicle is a massive (in the literal sense of the word) battery. If you've studied directed explosions like shaped charges, it is no surprise that the explosion was directed to relatively open air above the "bed," if you can call it that.

I don't know for certain if Carney is a pedo, but since he is WEF through and through, it is my working assumption. And there is a photo of him and his wife chatting with Ghislaine Maxwell...

Rather useful that. I would not be surprised if the left continues to get reversals that they end up resorting to urban terrorist aka bombing campaigns.

They have a lot in common with Islamic terrorists.

295 Just want to pop in and say I didn't vote for Massie for President. How many politicians from Kentucky do I have to endure.

Massie isn't wrong necessarily except he's ignoring the President's reasoning and helping stop the momentum we have built up. All of the sudden he wants to be principled instead of trusting the strategy of Trump . We would never had DOGE which he refers to if it wasn't for Trump.

Very interesting about your grandmother. Sorry that people were arguing over the estate. This seems a too common and yet frequent occurrence.

297 Amusing how many people underestimated Elon Musk, me included for a long, long time. They overlook that he EARNED that fortune by his efforts. Given his determination it is extremely fortunate that he doesn't regard President Trump with the same hatred that so many on the left do.

298 Title of this piece should be, "Daylight Savings Time."

My expression today. The Sunday it changes is not important. Nor, since I retired, are Monday's. I still hate it out of tradition as I don't like change much unless traveling...then I adjust.

I seriously hope President Trump picks something and they leave it alone.
