Got the HIMARS and MSHORAD vehicles delivered today for the ball tomorrow evening. Looking forward to the party and seeing the extended family again. I won't see most of them until the SMDC conference this fall when they stop by the ADAA booth (1st one in the hall in the VBC as they make their way into the conference area). Most of the atlatl generation of duck hunters hang out with me for a while to chat and catch up there if they don't make the ball in Feb. I take vacation to staff our booth so my MIC company can't make me be a booth cromagnon and talk techie stuff at the newbs.

I did when i worked for corporate hindquarters, out of crystal drive #3. But not anymore. I'm a solid individual contributor, and a tech fellow, so they keep me behind glass with 2 person handling procedures unless something gets broken by the newbs (i mean the less the 50yo engineers). Mostly i surf this place, walk about and terrorize the engineering leadership by asking to see the data sources and how they calculate basic physical principals on the hardware, and then shit on the program managers for getting technical performance measurements incorrect.
So. Still a warrant officer in fuck off mode but the pay is better.
Oh, and they let me teach system engineering foundations to the mid career engineers which is a hoot

Totally agree, altho first son was a honeybadger, weighing in at 10lbs and freaking me out for a month, which felt like a year. A sweet boy once he was fed. Other son mellow and we did fine.
I love babies since I was a little girl. Very popular at family reunions from age 10yrs. Soon to welcome our 3rd grandchild but I don't know if it is a boy or girl (yet). Does not matter at all, and I am so thrilled to live close to them.

I had them pull the bolt housing group in the MSHORAD's 7.62mm and 30mm. The HIMARS looks pretty but is as simple as the 155 howitzer. No guards needed. Everything is behind locks. Start by writing down all the ancestors and their family members along with birth and death dates plus residences if possible. Use some of the free sources like findagrave dot com and your local library. Census records start about 1940. 1950 census records won't be released until 2027. Then consider software and subscriptions.

My birthday is in late May= end of school and near Memorial Day. I still think it is an awesome birthday and mid-year with Christmas. Pool parties and all sorts of celebrations.
The only thing that makes February good to me is my granddaughter's birthday next week. She turns 4yrs and is my mini me. I hope her father does not notice as he will be horrified...but she is. Boys will fear her because I will train her to scare them as I did.

I don't think i could handle myself in a POV super unlimited ralley awd power drift.

Thanks. She is and I am very lucky to be her daughter.
Most people don't believe she is that old. She doesn't look it. I am so glad my grandchildren will remember her.
She is sharp and has not let age get her down. Laughs at weird news on tv. Emails brothers and me every morning that she's still alive and sort of kicking. Signs off with baby bro every night that she's locked in and alarm set. She is more popular than I am with relatives. ha. We just saw her last week as she doesn't fly here anymore.
I try not to get bummed out and weird with goodbyes, as she has lived a good life and is well loved. Also stubbornly refusing to live in assisted living. My brothers and I figure we'll know when she's ready.
She would have murdered people during lock down of the plandemic if forced to stay in her room/apt. So she's good at home and my youngest brother lives on the farm near her. The entire area looks after her. If her burglar alarm goes wonky half the county shows up armed.

Oddly, lung cancer has a lot of causes, and surprisingly smoking is only one of them. Not smoking only reduces the incidence, and does not eliminate it.
secondly, it was awfully easy to get hooked on pain killers when the MD told you the drug companies claimed they were not addictive like the old pain killers and gave them out like Pez. Personally, I found it difficult to quit smoking, and when I was on Oxy it was pretty unfun weaning off of that, though not having them after the surgeries would have been worse.
Be happy you don't have addicts in your family, never required lots of opiates for surgery, and don't smoke. Never be superior over it, because that attitude makes it really hard to admit to yourself that you have a problem should you suddenly find yourself with one.

It's a murky, muddled movie, mainly due to Mr. Mann's blowing past the scheduling for principal photography, and then as post-production started the SFX guy dies taking all of the compositing secrets for most of the effects work with him. The nearly 2-hour initial cut was poorly received by everyone (thanks to missing effects and the aforementioned murkiness), especially the studio, who basically told him to cut it to 90 minutes or they would. So he did, getting the SFX finished in a hurried fashion, and washed his hands of it.
The best thing about it is the Score by Tangerine Dream. However, do not purchase either of the official so-called "soundtracks", as they have almost none of the actual music used in the film.

I would give you my genealogy mother's phone number, but then she'd find me here and reel in horror at what I say sometimes.
She was doing genealogy back when my boys were hatched, so early 80's. Has huge books that are to go to the state something or other when she dies. Met distant family in other states that adore her after they met. I know she lurks on Ancestry and corrects people if they goof up her trees.
She got hooked early. I mostly like looking at the names of people. Her stuff is to go to the state geneology library when she roars into heaven...and she has outlived her family and most of her friends.
She came from French Huguenots who landed in Virginia. My great something or other grandfather owned the land where the Capitol was built in Richmond.

270 pregnancies occurred during the trial. The data on 238 of those were missing. Dog ate the reports, I guess. Of the remaining 32 that had outcome data reported, we had the following results:
23 spontaneous abortions
2 spontaneous abortions with intra-uterine death
2 premature births with neonatal death
1 spontaneous abortion with neonatal death
1 normal outcome
That's a 88% fetal/neonatal death rate.

It is exciting. I am one of those who think Trump getting screwed in 2020 is the best thing that could have happened. I know a couple of people who got hired in the last few weeks. They might skate by as they are not funded by the general year-to-year personnel budget but are paid as a percentage from other appropriations.

The Army Corps cut all probationary hires this past week. We don't get appropriations--we work for a living--but we are military. No skating. And a RIF is in the works.
I took the buyout, but so far I'm still working. Nobody knows a damned thing or what's coming next. Does wonders for morale and productivity.

Folks who usually pay little attention to politics might have accepted the election results, but they watched the media pivot from demonizing the vaccine while it was being developed under the Trump administration, to slavishly embracing it not long after Election Day.
Suddenly, a critical mass of skepticism began to metastasize. If they were hiding the truth of the origin of COVID, what else were they lying about? Enough Americans have had experience with the ravages of dementia to recognize those very symptoms in the newly-installed President. What else was the press hiding from us?
I'll even argue that 2020 might have been more consequential than 2024. Imagine where we'd be with the Trump/Pence administration closing out....

The above reminded me of the argument that the Air Force and the Space Force, now are unconstitutional because the Constitution only grants power to create and army and navy.
The wording is actually "Armies" plural, and Navy is singular.
When they created the Air Force as separate branch, this question was addressed, and it was argued that in modern times with technology that didn't exist or was contemplated by the Framers, the "armies and navy" should be construed as simply "armed forces".
But in reading some legal commentary about that (I soon MEGLO'd), for technical reasons, maybe you should construe and air force as a type of army, coming under "Armies" per the Constitution.
The question has never been really challenged.

There was one case sort of related to this question. An Air Force officer was being court martialed. He got some creative lawyering. They argued that this clause, "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces ..."
Didn't apply to the Air Force, since it was not a land or naval force. :-)

We've had some fine female aviators, and aviation is one route to command. Now I don't want women on submarines or in areas they themselves are not capable, but they have their place. One of the reasons you might want to consider the Air Force an "army" is the standing army thing. The Framers didn't like standing armies, but they didn't mind a standing navy.
An appropriation for an army can't last longer than two years, so an intervening House election can occur. And the funding thus must be positively renewed by said new House every time. No such prohibition for a Navy.
So, best to consider the Air Force an army, and thus no standing air forces.
