Jasmine Crockett, Who Is Absolutely On Trump's Payroll, Announces That She Will Block Trump's Plan to Give Taxpayers $5,000 Out of the Money DOGE Saves, Because $5,000 Doesn't Mean Anything to US Citizens

Seriously, Steven Miller's running her as an agent provocateur, right?

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) belittled President Donald Trump's support of a proposal to offer a $5,000 dividend to some taxpayers from the money saved by the Department of Government Efficiency.

DOGE volunteer head Elon Musk floated the idea of paying the savings found by his new department, suggesting the return could be as large as $5,000. However, Crockett criticized the idea during an interview with ABC News Live.

"Listen, [Trump is] just telling a lie. He's not the one that had anything to do with the $1,200 refunds that people had during the midst of COVID, that was done by a Democratic House and Democratic Senate," Crockett said. "The only reason that those refunds came before was because we were living in different times. This was a time in which, hopefully, we won't ever go through again. We had a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic . . . So, no, we are not in the business of giving out money. And honestly, I don't know what $5,000 will do for you."

The Democrat cadre of the government is not in the business of handing out money?

You mean you don't give out money to citizens generally, right? Because you gave $2 billion to failed insurrectionist Stacey Abrams and can't stop demanding that the government seize money from Republicans and give it to Democrat constituency groups.

I don't think this is a good idea. We have too many fake dollars already depreciating the value of the dollar. We need to dry up this supply to stop inflation. Saving money and then not spending it takes inflation out of the system, whereas dropping another stimulus-like check on the public will either increase it or, at the very least, waste the opportunity to decrease it.

But that's not this reparations-grifter's argument, of course.

$5000 could pay for her comically-huge fake eyelashes for a couple of weeks. Not bad!

...

Crockett's dismissal of the dividend sparked backlash online, as the idea was previously well-received.

"This same Rep called for reparations for Black people," Libs of TikTok captioned the clip of Crockett on X. "Typical out-of-touch hypocritical Democrat."

"If Jasmine Crockett's IQ was one point lower, you would have to water her like a plant. Literally a moron," former Trump adviser Roger Stone wrote on X.

...

Fishback was the first to pitch the idea to Musk, suggesting in a post on X that DOGE provides taxpayers with refund checks.

The idea certainly drove Democrats to once again declare that they only care about their cronies and constituents, and are absolutely hostile to the citizenry generally.

I think the $5000 is contingent on much more money going to debt reduction.

The $5000 would come from 20% savings.

I don't mind it.

It's going to spike inflation. Newly printed money here or newly printed money there is the same. If we weren't borrowing it, then, yes, absolutely.

5 I think I should get some return on all of the money we have paid into this corrupt system and for which we have nothing of value to show.

At the very least, get our asses out of debt and raise the value of the money I earn.

But if giving folks $5K will mean they vote for JD in the next election, I'm for that as well.

I agree with every word of that. Although I could use "up to $5000". But, up to? Sounds like a scam.

The money already exists. It can either be:

1) spent by FedGov
2) refunded to taxpayers
3) paid to holders of US Treasuries

DOGE is suggesting the savings from #1 be applied to #2 and #3, in a 20/80 ratio.

15 Speaking of the number $5,000. Perhaps someone can explain to me how Crockett was able to charge $5,000 per hour as an attorney with only two years experience?

Oh, and according to DOGE, her stock portfolio has grown 60% in the last 12 months. Plus, she owns a $2 million townhouse in Dallas, Texas, a $1.5 million loft in Austin and a $1.5 million lakefront cabin in Galveston, Texas.

What a financial genius.

Actually, I agree.

Once might argue that the $5,000 tax rebate will stimulate the economy so much that more tax revenue will pour back in, making it a break-even proposition is the long-run. But just on shortsighted book-balancing -- first, let's get out of debt, then start being generous.

23 The one thing I will say for Trump's plan: it gives average voters in seeing the work of Musk and DOGE continue. The more savings there are, the more money might go back in their pockets. So from a crudely political angle, I get it.

But yes, it would be put to much better use by not being spent at all, so we can get inflation and the debt under control.

Ace, it all depends on where this money originated. If it's actual hard money -- such as money taken from taxpayers -- then giving that money back to taxpayers doesn't increase the money supply. And giving it back to tens of millions of taxpayers to spend as they want will be better for the economy than corralling it with shithead bureaucrats or Democrap donors.

But of this is borrowed money -- ie, not hard money -- then I agree it would artificially increase the money supply.

I'm not in favor of the $5k plan generally. But I'd much rather the taxpayers have this money -- it's our money after all -- than some cocksuckers in gov't.

Congress cannot skim direct DOGE payments, so they will have to be tied to MIC spending or Ukraine or Israeli aid packages or the like that can be embezzled or rebated. Only when the donors are happy and senators and congressmen can graft will this pass.

It is post-inflationary, it has already been borrowed and covered by the fed. It would be better if it were rolled into paying down the national debt, but the other 80% that is clawed back is doing that already. So, we are only getting a portion of that. The only difference is that the taxpayers are getting it first for the best Cantillon position instead of the USG and their NGOs

Here, all money in our system is created on the books via borrowing and debt. In this case the Treasury created bonds that the Fed covered with cash by creating money to cover the debt. So Trump can use the entire amount clawed back to pay down the debt, which is fine, or he can pay down 80% of it against the debt which is 80% fine. And people can buy eggs again, or a used car. Not the principled libertarian position, but I am a self-declared crappy libertarian

126 I thought about this several days ago, and it's a brilliant idea.

Dem pols, I believe, take a secret oath to always believe that taxpayer money belongs to the government. If President Trump can state categorically that the $5K per taxpayer comes from funds already appropriated by Congress and have been sequestered in the US Treasury (or wherever the Magic Money is accounted), then sending it back to the taxpayers is a wonderful and a politically astute thing to do.

140 Inflation was, is, and always be a monetary phenomenon.

Increased spending isn't a monetary event. It's a demand side shift.

Monetary policy impacts inflation. Inflation tends to be inverse to interest rates (deflation is a thing, but is generally too slow to happen so since Econ goes the path of least resistance, interest rates get hit), and with noises I'm hearing, interest rates may be increasing in the next year.

All of this is to say that $5k payments to people won't impact inflation UNLESS the money supply is being increased to make it happen.

Posted by: TheITGuy2

Democrat urban blacks in Congress are about half the party's stalwarts and due to Scotus claiming the VRA mandated racial gerrymandering--most of them in the House are in very safe seats even if urban elections were honest. Over time, those in the safe seats eventually become chairmen, party leaders, etc. because of seniority.

For the most part, the Dems have become a party of liberal white women and urban minorities with a few white males still around in states where those types of tickets might lose statewide races.

Very true. It is also true that a lot of people use 'free money' for savings or to pay off debts==not for extra spending. That has been the result of quite a few analyses of 'stimulus' payments. They don't stimulate much of anything.

I think the idea of 20% to the public and 80% to reduce the deficit is a way to make a large contingent of the population into co conspirators vested in cutting government spending instead of being indifferent or hostile to it. People with a direct monetary stake are committed (like the current gimmedats) and the public indifferent. That’s not really true, though. The Federal Reserve is not directly monetizing Federal debt anymore. They’re actually selling down their Treasury holdings, which is sucking money out of the market. This is known as quantitative tightening.

However, the Fed has been discussing pausing or ending QT, which would probably be bad. But Trump getting rid of the deficit would encourage more QT, so the effect of the DOGE cuts may be disinflationary.

This is far from all of the money cut, in theory. It's 20% of it.

People wanted government to cut spending. Well, that's what DOGE is trying to do. If it's just 80% of their target instead of 100%, that's still pretty good.
Posted by: TheJamesMadison, watching B-movies with Roger Corman at February 21, 2025 02:21 PM (GBKbO)

Exactly so. This is a brilliant idea and the ratio of rebate to deficit reduction is excellent. When Johnson talks of his "principles," what he means is that direct payments cannot be skimmed. As mentioned above, it probably will have to be tied to something Principled Conservatives normally embezzle for themselves and/or donors like the military or foreign aid.

282 >> But the debt itself will continue to grow, due to interest rates on the existing debt.... and increase itself is filled with money created out of thin air, increasing inflation.

If it were up to me, I’d force a haircut on Treasury holders. However, if the deficit really is turned into a surplus, the debt won’t increase. (That’s why we never had a real surplus in the 90s: the debt increased every year. The “surplus” was budget gimmickry.)

However, the Federal Reserve isn’t creating new money to buy debt; it’s actually selling down its holdings. So even if the national debt were to increase, I’m not convinced it would be inflationary, because the money borrowed would simply come from somewhere else in the economy.

(The money supply plumbing is a bit more complicated than that, though. M2 has been increasing since bottoming-out in 2023. The Fed really erred in cutting rates last year, but I guess they wanted to get Biden/Kamala elected.)

All Park Rangers either carry or have access to all keys needed for parks.
Yosemite has more than one Park Ranger. Then there's the manager, office staff, maintenance (who definitely have all of the keys)...

Interest rate games no longer matter. The combined Gov debt (State, Local, and Fed) now exceeds the combined Business and Consumer debt.

Only consumer and Business debt is partly controlled by Interest Rates... Gov debt is totally controlled by politics and inertia.

Fed interest rate hikes do nothing but create MORE Gov debt (interest on said debt), which.... oh... raises inflation...

You lock them in the off season with a deadbolt from the outside to keep vagrants and critters out. Typically, deadbolts should be able to be unlocked from the inside as you point out.

That they locked someone in from the outside without ability to unlock from the inside screams malicious compliance as some have opined and staged stunt.

336 >> Why would it be bad? Long term rates aren't playing ball with Fed rates and a glut of debt might be the reason. It certainly puts upward pressure on the interest rates we're paying.

The Federal Reserve selling its debt actually removes dollars from the system. It’s one of the only mechanisms we have for sucking liquidity out.

A glut of debt puts downward pressure on interest rates. Interest rates have remained sticky because bond markets don’t think inflation is finished. They don’t want to get screwed like they did in 22-23 when rates shot up abruptly and forced huge losses on Treasuries.

Were I to guess, maybe two or three of Diddy's six attorneys represent him directly. The other ones were indirectly involved to assure that their real clients wouldn't be brought out into the sunlight. As things have progressed, those unknown clients are probably now calling them home (aka enticing them with massive $) to represent them directly and to remain in Diddy's defense would be a conflict of interest. So, don't be surprised if something pops on that case soon.

398 Democrats have a way bigger problem than which candidate they are going to run in 2028. Trump isn't just moving the Overton Window, he's picked up the entire building and moved it to the other side of the street.

What exactly are Democrats going to run on? A return to mutilating children, high taxes, another overseas war, a return to open borders and high crime?

The Democrat Party is in free fall right now and their lock on the bureaucracy is going to massively cut into their funding and narrative control. They better figure out what they want to be when they grow up and get busy double plus quick because right now they are popular as explosive diarrhea.

If I issue so much debt that I exhaust the 3% people, I have to go to the 4% people, and so on. More debt forces the rate up. That was the whole point of QE, to keep that debt off the market and keep it from spiking interest rates.

At least that's how it works in my head. What am I missing?

>>What exactly are Democrats going to run on?

Democrats have not been winning on any issues since the early aughts, they have put most of their electoral efforts into jerrymandering and rigging the voting systems of the states they have been able to take control over.

All they have to do is ballot harvest and ballot cure away a couple seat in Cali, Illinois and NY to gain the majority in the house.

And that would be a disaster but that's a scenario we have to plan for.

This idea that the Donks are in the wilderness and won't gain back control is fanciful.

They are going to get back control at some point and it's not going to be pretty as they will more than likely want to do some reciprocal fundamental transformation.

We might be heading to a time of a spoils system type of governance.

Could be!

This week in an airport he was behind a blond tranny with extensions. First he commented on the narrow hips. I commented (we were being quiet, we think) that I wish I had those hips and he said, nope, no like. Then we discovered he was behind a real life tranny and I took photos of the extensions and hips and texted a few people.

This, right here, is why chy na is wasting their time spying on us.

454 . . So, no, we are not in the business of giving out money. And honestly, I don't know what $5,000 will do for you."

Of course she has no idea what $5,000 would do for the average household. Everyone in D.C. is completely out of touch with the average American. Because everyone in D.C. is getting corruption money through taxpayer handouts or being bought off by Big Pharma or making millions through insider trading, etc.

She's a representative? So, a congresswoman? Then why doesn't she make a trip back to the district she represents, hold a town hall and ask for people to provide examples of how $5,000 will help them.

There should be a thread on X for this.

$5,000 is 3+ months of $1,500/mo rent/mortgage payments.
$5,000 is 10 months of $500/mo car payments
$5,000 is 10 months of $500/mo grocery bill

And on and on.

I bet it would do a lot for those suffering from Hurricane damage in North Carolina or fire damage in L.A.

These fucking politicians. Treating $5k as if it's chump change to the average person.

455 They should have removed sprocket on that chainsaw and fired it up. Musk making chainsaw sounds was a little impotent like Democrats.

458 save it for Q2

cutting off an annualized $1T of federal spending in a $30T economy is likely to cause a brief recession before manufacturing roars back under the tariffs

460 Yeah, she's detestable.

But no, she's not on Trump's payroll.

The Constitution itself says Congresscritters wil be "entitled to compensation for their services".

The POTUS can't interfere with those payments to the members of a co-equal branch of the government.

(but maybe he could take away her permit to park on the Capitol grounds?)
