Arguing with liberal women is like arguing with children.
This is...accurate. Children will often get one data point from somewhere and stick to it no matter how absurd it becomes when other information is added to the discussion. For example, you might get an argument from a child that he should have all the dark chocolate peanut butter cups he wants because dark chocolate is good for you. Now, dark chocolate, especially without sugar, does have some healthy aspects, its true. But...peanut butters cups are full of sugar and fat and should be eaten in moderation. But you'll get the same thing with lefties..."The people on TV say immigration/taxes/whatever are good for you so why do you get the right to disagree with them?!?" and they will not listen to any other source of information... I think Neptune has the most kino lightning-storms. Something about it being so dark out there.
Uranus has some whacked out seasonal patterns since its axial tilt is sideways. 84 year revolution, right? so over a 21 year period it goes from north pole face-on to the Sun to edge-on, then 21 years to go to south polar face-on, 21 years back to a "normal" rotation, and one more 21 year season to north pole summer again. I don't know what that does to its weather but I assume it's extreme. Posted by: gKWVE at February 18, 2025 07:47 PM (gKWVE) 97

Posted by: gKWVE at February 18, 2025 07:47 PM (gKWVE) --- Kind of hard to tell, though, as Uranus tends to look as smooth as a cue ball in all the pictures I've seen. Note that is using the current estimation of the orbital elements, and you'll see it gets close in 2028 than it does in 2032. What's going on is the uncertainties, the error bars on those elements. They compound with time. So, in the 2032 pass, they are much wider, and the chance of hitting earth is non-zero there, while in 2028, it is pretty much zero. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at February 18, 2025 08:16 PM (8zz6B) It wasn’t really, though. Dresden was the most built-up German industrial area left unbombed by the Allies. It was an important transport hub, was a staging ground for tens of thousands of Wehrmacht troops who were preparing to fight the advancing Soviets, and contained several important war industries. In addition, it was becoming a center for refugees from other bombed areas. It may not be very nice, but destroying housing and creating chaos among German leadership in trying to manage civilian refugees was a legitimate goal. Medium soup pot, cover bottom with corn oil, heat on high for a couple minutes, put in enough white corn kernels to just cover the bottom, swirl, put the lid on leaving an open crack to let steam escape, pop until it stops, less than a minute. Pour popcorn out, put a couple tablespoons of salted butter back in the pot now removed from heat, put about half the popcorn back in and shake, then mix with the other half. Salt to taste. Authorities in San Francisco are looking for three men who entered San Francisco City Hall on Friday, posing as employees of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The suspects entered various offices and demanded access to records “related to alleged wasteful government spending and fraud,” according to a statement by the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office. The three men were wearing Make America Great Again (MAGA) hats and DOGE shirts and authorities believe they were imposters. “We do not believe the individuals requesting access to City files were representatives from DOGE,” the sheriff’s office said. Boo hoo, we caused a firestorm killing 300,000 peaceful sensitive Germans who were just sitting around discussing Goethe and listening to Beethoven. Except, to the extent intelligence could determine, it was a legitimate military target and there wasn't anything special about the means or the tactics used. And the death toll was pumped up by unreconstructed Nazis and left-wing America haters.

But four years ago the same people argued the government could make citizens take a poison shot "for the greater good". How did they know it was the greater good? Well the government told them. My late mother loved FoxNews, Tucker and Hannity.
My late grand-mother loved Billy Graham. And you know, maybe he wasn't the worst of the bunch. But there comes a time, even though grand-ma made the best damn biscuits and might have slipped you a sip of whiskey and slapped you on the back of the head when you were being oblivious while neighbor girl is talking - that they just lose it and you have to remember all the times they did remember when times were different. We're way past that point. Way past. Posted by: I Read at February 18, 2025 09:32 PM (713H0) 270

But I did cancel Mom's news channels because I felt she was getting upset. So I did something similar. It didn't last long. Mom said news didn't affect her but we did get rid of the tv stations showing horrible crime stuff. She knew that would negatively affect her. At that age, they have well ingrained routines. But if you were going on vacation and her tv inputs switched to hdmi.... Never mind. Again. Too much stress to put on someone elderly you love.
