DOGE Announces $881 Million in Cuts at the Department of Education; Trump and Musk Field Questions from the Fathomlessly Corrupt US Press

elonmusktrumpjointpressconference.jpg
Trump and Musk both answer questions from the press.
What an idea, a government that says what they're going to do,
then does what they said what they were going to do,
and then calmly and candidly explains what they're doing and why.

I am very surprised by the terrific focus Trump is showing, and please by -- not surprised by -- how absolutely crystal-clear transparent Trump is being with the country.

Almost a billion in cuts to the DoE.

A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking about real money.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) announced $881 million in cuts to Education Department contracts, targeting diversity training and research programs.

Key Details:

About 170 contracts for the Institute of Education Sciences were terminated.

The cuts include 29 diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training grants worth $101 million.

The move comes as President Trump is expected to issue an executive order to wind down the Education Department.

This is just the easy stuff, the lowest-hanging fruit. I'm sure he can trim another $2-3 billion without much trouble at all.

DOGE is also targeting fake "science" -- allegedly scientific NGOs are handing out (taxpayer funded) grants to do "studies" on DEI and that crap.

President Donald Trump is taking aggressive action to slash taxpayer funding for politically motivated research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF), following years of wasteful spending on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire reports that Trump attempted similar cuts during his first term, but Congress blocked his efforts.

Key Details

The NSF awarded one in ten grants between 2021 and 2024 for projects focused on DEI, social justice, or race-related issues, according to a Senate report.

Trump's administration is slashing funding, leading to layoffs of up to half of NSF's staff and capping NIH administrative expenses at 15% of grants.

Federal judges are attempting to block Trump's budget cuts, but senators like J.D. Vance argue that such judicial overreach is unconstitutional.

This should put the fear of Musk into the bureaucrats:

#BREAKING: Elon Musk just announced in the Oval Office DOGE is investigating federal employees with high net worth despite low pay

Many, MANY corrupt feds are sweating right now!

Including Fauci's cronies

Trump introduced the country to the leader of DOGE's tiger teams, a young go-getter named Mr. X.

Note that the press and the Democrat Party and the Deep State -- but I repeat myself not once, not twice, but thrice -- has been running ops for weeks attempting to make Trump jealous of Musk, or to cause problems between them. They're a pair of Aces and the press is trying to get them to fold their hand.

It's not working. They appear to genuinely like and respect each other.

I absolutely love the White House's communications. They are wide-open and responsive, even to their bitter enemies of the Communist Junta Press Corps.

Update: Full Trump/Musk press grilling.

24 Musk is literally in the Oval Office right now dictating policy. He’s standing there while asshole just sits there nodding. He’s twisting things to say the judicial system is invalid because judges aren’t elected. WHY IS HE UP THERE? He’s NOBODY!

Irony has rolled over and died. And 47 couldn’t seem more like Eloon’s puppet.

Musk has his kid there to cause distraction. And as a PROP as he claims the natl deficit is so high. As if lil Damien there will ever suffer paying off that debt

I noticed Muskrat didn't bring one of his many daughters. Probably only brings those girls out for pedo Trump during his "executive time". Reminds me of the black &white films of the Nazis playing around with their children at Hitler's castle in the mountains.

Musk essentially said the bureaucracy has to be eliminated because they are unelected, and don't represent the people. If this weren't so scary and demented, it would be funny. Musk is waxing philosophical and talking down to the people, as if he is a Civics teacher. Nicolle Wallace cut away.

They've eliminated most of the responsible press. AP was denied entry after writing "Gulf of Mexico".

Then an election gets blatantly stolen, and I mean so blatant that Dem assholes insist on bullying people into saying it was fair...and the reaction from the people was a "whatever."

We've hit the Resigned Acceptance stage. Nothing meaningful will happen or be allowed to stand. Way too little and far too late now.

39 The phantom Social Security payments may be key. The Left threw the border wide open and apparently put much of their intended replacement population and future voters on the citizen-funded dole. I suspect beyond the feminized hysteria this is the true cause of concern over looking at the payment system. Musk said the fraudulent SS payments were at least $100 billion. That's a lot of patronage if true.

TJM, I think, was saying earlier that the circuit courts wouldn't squash the TROs, they'd wait for the final injunction and rule on that. That's what normally happens so this isn't really surprising and they can say they're acting with judicial temperament while, conveniently, delaying Trump from doing what the citizenry hired him to do.

Then an election gets blatantly stolen, and I mean so blatant that Dem assholes insist on bullying people into saying it was fair...and the reaction from the people was a "whatever."

187 Elon explained very well their plan to cut the deficit in half to $1 trillion. He went on to say that along with deregulation and allowing the nation's builders to build that this could generate 3, 4 maybe 5% growth and that this would, in effect, cause inflation to stop increasing and hold steady.

Quoting from memory:
"Imagine if you went to the grocery store and then one year later you went back and the prices were the same?"

Lower energy prices too and this could work. Bigly.

199 Some haughty reporter asked Musk about his statement that $50 million went to Hamas for condoms. When it was fact checked, that was untrue. $50 million went to some African country for condoms to help stop the spread of AIDS. She wanted to know if he would correct that so that they could believe his other statements Musk admitted that he he will say things incorrectly at times and to the bigger point why is the US spending $50 million on condoms for any place?

The subtext is that the Left is big mad that Musk "defamed Hamas". Because of course they are. Musk has the much better point: why are we giving $50 million in condoms to foreigners when Sandra Fluke has such a great need?

Fox is going from strength to strength in ratings while CNN and MSDNC are shriveling up especially in the 25-54 year old viewer demographic. Both CNN and MSDNC have audiences literally keeling over right and left from old age. CNN's median (half above, half below) viewer was something like 68 and MSDNC's was a year older at 69.

Not surprisingly, the 65-70 demographic is the one that is evenly split during the 2024 election and Trump's recent performance.

I've been reading their briefs submitted in response. They are replying based on solid caselaw, poking holes in justiciability (many of these groups suing do not have standing which is something that is a bugaboo to Justice Roberts, and appropriate citations of statutes. The plaintiffs briefs are basically full of emotional language about impending doom of all sorts with little, if any, law backing their briefs. The judges are choosing to go YOLO and turn their backs on solid law and the Constitution. Examine the Eastern Roman Empire aka Byzantium for a review of how history is never one way. Byzantium got knocked on its ass from time to time and rose again, made stupid decisions, had civil wars, etc. but staggered on for nearly a millennia after the Western Roman Empire gave up the ghost.

Crucial to that long life was reforming the system when it needed it and that was usually after falling on their ass.

I never said all old people don't know tech.
I said "they" are those older people who don't want to know anything about tech.

There is a distinct difference, as I'm quite aware there are millions of seniors who use modern technology and appreciate it.

I'm talking about people who had the blinking 12:00 on their VCRs forever because they really don't care to learn anything other than where to hit the power button.

Those people do not use the internet and don't want to and are therefore trapped in the corporate media bubble.

322 “Nothing ever happens” is not literal. It’s a statement about the surprising staying power of a status quo that is obviously sick, corrupt, overextended, and in decline.

It is bad rhetoric because it does not address the dialectical truth. Even the status quo changes as Obama put the corruption train into high gear. But, we have been there before during the Civil War and Reconstruction to the extent that Mark Twain wrote a book about the Gilded Age.

Spend less time trying to 'win' an argument and more time engaged in dialectical discussions if you want to improve the world.

325 Aldridge Ames was living far beyond his means because he was telling the KGB who our spies were.

Many died and it took the CIA years to figure out he was the traitor.

Top Ramen right there.

Way to put 2 and 2 together, CIA.

Hey, when I have Ames handle this spy in Russia he falls out the window to his death, but that never happens with DaveAmerica. Well, its almost lunch!!

326 Interesting how the increase in Diversity spending has corresponded directly with a sharp downturn in race relations and basic competency.

327 I'm way behind so forgive me if it's been said already, but either Rush or Dave Ramsey said, at the throes of one of our nadirs of economics...
"I just refuse to participate in this recession."

Yep. Even as one person, you can make a positive difference (or negative) in the world including the economy. We always seem to see institutions around as real things when they are simply the sum total of people acting in them as they do. Change the incentives, you will change most of the people's behavior.

329 I heard on NPR today, these researchers who were running a 30 YEAR project studying educational outcomes, and crying because their funding got cut. Thye were burning through only $ 3 million per year. My response was - how many fucking textbooks could your 30-year study have funded? How many kids sent to college on full tuition? How many new gymnasiums built?

That money you spent came from somewhere, and while your study might be very interesting, what actual good is it doing to the students? And why did you expect funding would go on indefinitely?

There was a famed study of identical twins raised apart back in the day that also went on for years. Then they noticed that despite adding new pairs for years the results were exactly the same down to extreme pecision. Then they realized dude had retired but supposedly was adding new subjects to the study....

In the end they found he was fabricating the numbers.

332 How many years did this go on, and not a single person bothered to check? Seriously, the recipient, at best, died when they were 100. that means for the last 40 YEARS someone stole their SS checks.

More likely they are entirely artificial. The odd age range makes it easier to manage them

334 OF COURSE the hotels are charging more to house illegal immigrants!!!! I'd be charging a lot more than double... think of the damages you're going to get, blatant and latent (stuff stuck in walls, and so forth, damaged plumbing).

Don't know how long the contract will last, hotel will need all sorts of repairs before reopening, plus the damage to reputation. All that affects cash flow before/when reopening to public.

Is the taxpayer on the hook if it burns down? Floods? Then you better believe the hotel's insurance premiums just went into the stratosphere.

No kickbacks needed, this is just sane business. And frankly, a bargain.
