Spelling is also boosted a lot by reading a lot, the more varied the better. Once you see it a few times your brain picks up the patter.

Years and years ago I realized that I was purposely misspelling words I had earlier habits of misspelling just to cue the Autocorrect to confirm my belief that I was not wrong.
It became second nature and I eventually turned that feature off because it was becoming a reflex.

I can relate. In junior high, our typing teacher was an older, old-school man, Mr. Johnson. He would shut the door and pull out records and we learned to type with records designed for typing. With the music getting faster and faster. He told us this wasn't in the curriculum and we all loved him and became great typers!

Mom did that with me, to learn math. I was struggling mightily in 7th grade math, and she pulled them out. It wasn't so much that the math was hard, it was a language I had to crack. One I figured out the patterns and the language of math it just made sense, and I went from D to A in a matter of weeks.

Saw a whole line of Girlz, so ended up in 4th period typing class. One of the better decisions I made those years.

I'm an older millennial. My spelling is not amazing, and I'm a voracious reader. My spelling is better than most of the people I know my age.
Younger millennials (and younger) never had to learn how to spell beyond like 3rd grade. After that, everything they handed in at school was typed up in MS Word. Which has spell check.
And now cellphones autocorrect. So it's gotten even worse.

Yes they had divisions once a week for punishment. Unless the captain was a madman or the crew was especially horrible, they didn't get whipped often. but it REALLY sucks to get whipped.
It goes like this:

NGO gives $9k to 10 different fake charities (they gotta get their $1k, too).
Those 10 fake charities grant the money to 20 different Donor Advised Funds, which I believe masks them from public disclosure of funds.
Those DAF funds "donate" all of the money to various charities, who donate it to NGO's.
Throughout this time, hundreds of millions of dollars are moving back and forth through this system at any time, being granted and transferred around (w/ skim)
Now trace any specific money from the Lutheran Immigrant Project back to the government.
And it's actually much more complicated than this since there are thousands of organizations, millions of grants, and dozens of govt agencies doing the same thing as USAID.

Yeah I am not sure how its gotten to that point unless it is referring to how things are gonna "get real".
Boatswain is from a really old use of the word "swain" which became about being a lover or boyfriend, but was originally "servant" in older English. He was the guy in charge of running the boat, not commanding it. Became the enforcer after a while.
Coxswain is the one I'm not clear on, it ended up the main servant of the captain and guy in charge of the captain's boat.

I have on my shelf my sainted mother's copy of The New Century Book of Facts, copyright 1941. Over 1700 pages. Covers everything and more that you'd learn in school. A kid could take the information in that book from that time and be better educated than about 95% of students today.

Basically, they gave a lot of money to the schools and they hired consultants. The consultants realized that they could earn a lot more if all the kids were illiterate, so they came up with "whole word" and "whole language" to replace phonics. It started in CA but has been like trying to kill a snake as it goes around the country and never dies. This is what Bush's SoE tried to stop with NCLB.
On reflection, it is a microcosm of the USAID stuff. It is all a grift to cause harm in order to justify more money and power.

I saw multiple streamers trying to read text and just straight up saying the wrong words.
I didn't understand what was happening until I started seeing explanations that was how they 'learned' to read.
They were taught to 'read' by..... glancing at the first few letters and 'guessing' what the word was. It's actually insane. It's an advanced speedreading technique but requires you to ACTUALLY HAVE VOCABULARY to use it.
You hear them just saying straight up wrong words like instead of 'suppression' they'll read out loud 'suppressant', because they AREN'T READING THE WORD.
It's actually insane how much the left has damaged the education of the next generation.

Engines are an extremely mature technology. There is no reason for Toyota and Honda to have reliability problems. There is no reason for ANY manufacturer to not make an engine that can't easily get 300K+ miles AND a really clean exhaust. We've known how to do it since the 90s.
99% of engine problems since then are emissions related, and they have been introduced in pursuit of an almost pointless goal.
